Well my character progression was bucc > mm > shad > drk > sair > and 4 years later.. i finally made a mage, lvl 103 now. Just like sparky mentioned, I too have been on 2h zak and krex runs (total 4hrs) and climbed my way up since I only got to party with fellow newbies.

As I climbed up, I made friends with some of the newbies, and also made friends with some "pros" along the way. My hp isnt the highest as all my chars up till 189 still have over 150 int and still washing (i added int on my mm from lvl 155 onwards cuz thats when i learnt about hp washing cuz ya know.. HT). As for dmg, i literally raw farmed eqps to sell with all my chars for mesos, and I enjoyed the process - nostalgic gameplay reasons.

So after years of playing, I finally get to go for shorter boss runs and play this game with the close friends I have made. Kinda like the "reward" for going through the tough process of starting out as a complete new comer. So it is understandable that I would prefer to mix around these ppl more so than helping out strangers all the time (dont get me wrong, I still do go on zak/krex exp runs and not taking helm or ring despite being the SE, it was to help the whole party rehelm so I was fine with helping every now and then, but not all the time. Also I would prioritise helping the ppl that have gone through thick and thin with me). Anyway games like maple reward you more according to how much time you invest in it, thus farming is definitely necessary to reach late game content, not restricted to hs mule arch mage leeching.

Overall, the point Im making is that having majority of the "pros" not helping out "newbies" isnt the issue, but is that people are rushing to want to have the most efficient runs / profits / use of time, where relationships would be a cost. This to me means that those people resorting to RWT either have the impression that no one wants to help them so they resort to money instead of time OR just people that want to flaunt dmg to get that cheap thrill from those around them.
And if theyre trying to achieve the end game process straight away, I do not think joining a nostalgic server is right for them in the first place. Just like how ppl ask why I leech myself with a bucc instead of creating a mage, and my answer is cuz its fun.

step 1: get a dog at an animal shelter, preferably a cute one like a corgi

step 2: train it to bark when it smells RWT by doing this: each time it gets it right give it a biscuit and if it gets it wrong say "bad dog no biscuit". soon , u have pavoloian conditioned it perfectly

    step 3: cya RWTers

He didn't appeal, he made a thread in introductions and farewell where he confessed and it turned into a rwt support rally, and then it was deleted.

I would like to revive this again as the number of RWTers has surged again due to the recent COVID outbreak.

Us as a community need to come again once again to discuss some ways of how to catch RWTers (easy way are to see if a lazy guy who doesn't sell leech, etc suddenly starts doing 60k per start on NL because most RWTers are NLs). I'm shocked to see that most of the RWTers come from Singapore ...

And let's face it, if we ban the RWTers successfully, they will be scared to buy mesos every again and we will have less hackers since most of the hackers are selling mesos.

    Just by 2 cent.

I think the issue is not really RWT but hacking. Transfer of powerful gear is questionable, but it's the quick, effortless creation of godly items that damages the server and creates RWT.

To stop hacking is also hard though. Something to consider would be some sort of deal with the guy who makes the hacks (to e.g. backdoor the software to log the cheaters), god knows how that could work but it seems something that could potentially be effective.

The reason we see increased hacking is directly due to increased RWT demand. If no one buys from RWT sellers, why would they bother running hacks in the first place?

However, between RWT demand and hacking, I think the latter (in the form of vac/macro-botting) will be the easier problem to solve, as I doubt new players who aren't very invested in the server yet and want to cheat would be too afraid of getting banned (unless they are smart and thinking for the long-term).

This issue has been brought up in a recent feedback thread here.

Just read through some recent posts in the ban appeal section and you’ll see. Kudos to staff for their hard work in investigating and catching these people! ~imboss
