#2 is the anti-afk system, btw, not party exp formula.

If the Priest/Bishop is moving around, HS'ing, getting hit by mobs, and attacking, they're not afk amirite? Is this confusing to you guys? o_O

Also, no, I'm not butthurt, I don't even play anymore, just making suggestions.

If that suggestion works 100% of the time, then i'm all for it, but to be honest, I can already see so many scenarios that can go wrong with that.. Coding wise.

Also one of the perks of being a bishop is too sometimes leech good friends (maybe since you owe them one) your anti-afk system would ruin this.

Tbh, I'm just trying to kill self-leech/HS mule. I can't see where this system would go wrong in doing so...

Well, If i was self leeching myself, then i would just have to move up and down the rope every 5 minutes.. Not that hard.

Self leeching will become slower than actual grinding with normal spawn, besides maybe wolf spiders, himes, gobies and skeles.

And if people are bothering to go 130+ on two accounts then let them.. In that time you could become 160+ on an attacking class and solo most of the bosses for exp.

And whats so bad about a HS mule? Its a reward you get for grinding a priest to level 81+.

I'm pretty sure you're considered "out of combat" (aka allowed to drop shit/cc etc. without getting that catch your breath bullshit) after like 5 seconds of not getting attacked/not attacking. If you wanna deal with that every 5 seconds be my guest.

The reason is because its compulsory to make a Bishop or you fall behind very quickly, and it discourages people to party when you can just make a Priest/Bishop or a mule to afk while you play your Priest/Bishop and dual-client.

Well if i'm arguing for the sake of it, HS doesn't make you "out of combat" and you only have to HS every 2 minutes.. so you are saying a priest can only leech for 5 seconds, then not leeching for 110 seconds?

I made it to level 200 without a bishop.. I don't see how it makes you fall behind quickly, bosses are so much more exp. The problem is that they were in low supply on the last server. And like I said the party map at skeles is now the better map... Encouraging more party grinds.

Or better still, just leave the attackers without HS and go grind elsewhere, because it's not as boring and doesn't involve remembering to rebuff yourself every 10-15 seconds.

Come to think of it, I'm sure people could, and would be tempted to get around #2 by botting, which isn't something I'd want to encourage.

The Priest would have to attack. I don't think that's asking too much...

That's awesome that you played without a Bishop, I did as well, albeit only to 144 but I know what you're saying. It took me about a month to hit that level (as a Corsair, a prime bossing class.) Compare to Christine for instance, she leeched her NL with her Bishop and passed me in about 2 weeks, so you do fall quite behind. I'm sure there will be far more BF/HH/Anego etc. for a while until a lot of people start getting up there and are able to kill them efficiently, I''m just thinking long term. Also, a valid point about the Skele maps, never considered that. I just feel like the server is going to end up the same way it was and I don't want that.

You do know that HS is more effective in a party correct? You'd be gimping your own exp to "stick it to the attackers" lmao, which according to you is less boring? o_O Not sure where you were trying to go with that one.

I've never seen 1 botter in my time here, and the GMs are really good about that kind of thing if there were, so I don't see this ushering in a wave of botters.

I can't reply in full text at the moment since I'm on the road, but I would just like to comment that asking at level 81 priest to go around magic clawing wolf spiders is a lot to ask.

Don't go to Wolf Spiders then? Grind at GS2 with someone, its not hard to find a partner there by any means.

Your telling a class to change their grinding habits just because of an anti leech system? Well THAT is deinutely unfair. What about all those poor attackers at WS that need HS?

You're saying its more fair that the Priests sit there doing absolutely nothing and get sweet exp for pressing a button? Why is them having to use Magic Claw SO awful? They are going to get the same exp except they actually have to do something. "Oh noes, da wittle Priesties can't leech no more qq." They could also just wait one more level and put a point into Shining Ray. I don't understand why asking a Priest to participate to earn exp is so mind blowing.

You say that but your fighting against the fact bishops are leeching other attackers to a higher level than you. Also is it difficult to understand that bishops have different playing styles than attacking classes? Not every class is going to be the same.

That's hardly my point, I could care less if people are higher level than me, that's irrelevant, I was simply using that comparison to show my point that self-leeching is far better than simply playing your class.

Lets get real here, its MapleStory, you kill mobs to get exp until you're high enough level to kill a stronger mob to get more exp. If you're melee you get close to mobs, if you're ranged you stay far away. That's about the extent that "playstyle" goes in this game. That being said, with the anti-afk system, Priests don't earn ANY LESS exp, they still retain all their value, they just have to attack, that's it, not so hard. My main target is self-leeching, if the byproduct is Priests having to attack to earn exp I don't see the problem.

I hardly thing self leeching is faster than grinding. (Besides maybe old gobies/skele 108-120) It might be a lot easier, Christine worked hard for her character and probably most hours than you in those two weeks, then you have in 1 month. You also managed to describe every job besides mages the farming/griding class, and like I said before, why don't you try playing that class if you think it is so OP and fun? Because it's not compared to an attacking class, ask Christine if you want. And look back to my Vikings post. There a priest doesn't attack but is hardly afk.

If priest were made to magic claw at wolf spiders I would have to argue that it is unfair they get only 40% of the exp for the same Amount of work.

Its a lot faster, if it wasn't why the hell would everyone be doing it? At around the GS2 levels leeching becomes around the same speed/marginally faster than training, and once you hit Wolf Spiders and beyond its waaaay faster.

Christine and I played a similar amount of hours, around 4-6 per day (although sometimes she'd go on her crazy grinding binges) so I don't think she far exceeded my play time in 2 weeks for her NL. Its very true that she put more time into her Bishop, as she mained one for quite some time, but you wouldn't need to be near that level if you just wanted a Bishop to leech with.

I don't know what you're saying with me describing all jobs except Mages, so no comment. Also, in regards to your Vikings post, this isn't that version, and nobody trains like that anymore, so it doesn't really apply here.

Is it not a valid tradeoff for the Priest to only get 40% of the exp for "almost" (since they would only have to keep themselves un-afk, which doesn't mean they MUST attack, they could just heal the attacker, but I digress) the same amount of work to be the ultimate grinding/farming/party class in 4th job? I understand that you're simply arguing for the sake of argument, but you're starting to grasp at straws here, and I'm too tired to keep this going. I stand by my suggestion. See ya :3

Sorry, I know where I was going with it, but I'm very tired and probably not making a great deal of sense to anyone other than me. I think that what's bugging me is that party HS-ers shouldn't have to get around an anti-leech system, because what they're doing is one perfectly valid way of playing a Priest. Urgh, my feelings on this are so complicated and sometimes contradictory that it's hard to explain.

However, it's not like any of this is gonna affect me personally - I'll be soloing skeles at lvl 8x anyway, 'cos that's how I roll and the exp is sweeeeet! G'night!
