Second thought. I guess I'm lazy because the main reason I made so many hs mules was because I'm too lazy to move them when I switch leeching location
For my tastes, leeching completely sucks the fun and purpose out of the game. For several years, I played a Ragnarok server where leeching was actually illegal, and I still find it rather distasteful. On Royals, leeching is part of the culture. Folks can decide for themselves whether that's what they want from their Maple experience, and your mission to convince people not to leech will annoy them at best, or relegate you to the role of the village idiot at worst.
People are allowed to tell you off. If you're persistent there is a case that can be made for harassment. You don't like leeching, people get it, but that's on you. You can't force others to change, and if people want to leech, they can.
I like what you said about “walking the road” and the nostalgia. I think the reason I personally don’t like leeching is because the nostalgia of this server is one of the things that makes it great. All the memories I use to have a as a kid where I would have to play quietly past my bed time so my parents didn’t hear me and come turn it off, and so many more come back to life when I play MapleRoyals and leeching just sorta takes all that away. I don’t think that people can’t enjoy the game while leeching but I think that this game has so much more of the ‘nostalgia factor’ to offer then just paying people to level you up so you can use your 4th job gear and kill all those old bosses.
I know, I stated that I was not going to push people and annoy people to the point where it gets me in trouble. I simply want to try and talk to people who leech all the time and get them to try a different style of mapling, one I believe is of higher reward and personal satisfaction. Its their choice as to whether they listen or not but I think reporting me for harassment because I whispered them once is a little far.
You completely missed the point because I never said everyone must feel like me. I’ve tried leeching in other servers and didn’t like it. In the end do you, but I am just trying to relay that same message you just said onto other people “look from different views”, try a different way of leveling see if it’s at all more rewarding than just having someone do it for you.
Nothing is wrong with creating an HS Mule and using him for the sole purpose of HS, it’s also still you leveling your own characters, your own body is the one killing those monsters and earning your levels for yourself. Not someone else doing it for you.
What makes you so sure they haven't tried it? That tends to be precisely why people prefer leech, in my experience.
You will late or soon buy leech from someone or selling leech. Its a vicious circle, and thanks to that, i can fund myself. Btw S>leech
@Soggy Nerps, I'm still curious on your opinion on my case. Not that I'll change how I play based on your opinion, but I'm curious. I've "walked the road", grinded my first unfunded character on royals to 15x, and I never paid other people for leech. All the leeching I've done were self leech.
That brings up another great point, I cannot argue that, and I simply come back to what I said before which is that I believe the grind is the most rewarding and most satisfying way to play Maple. I remember it took me two years to get to 200 on GMS pre-bb and I hated almost every moment of it. If I could have afforded leech I probably would've bought it back then. I didn't though, and that feeling of achievement when I finally reached 200 was pure ecstasy. Yes, you are right, many people have tried grinding and hate it, so they buy leech, but have they or you, engaged in the grind for 200 levels? That's what I want people to try. I know it may be unrealistic and many won't try to do it, but for the few that do... well, I applaud those brave souls.
I thought I replied but I guess not, my apologies. The part about leeching I deem dissatisfying is the fact that someone else is doing the hard work for you. If you grind your way up to level 150 and you start a new guy and you want to level him up and you have the means to do it, why the heck not. You are still doing the work yourself, you are not paying someone else to do the work for you. I don't think it's necessarily as fun for me, because I enjoy the first levels and the first job advancement almost as much as the third and fourth. Yet, I don't think it's as bad as having someone else do the dirty work for you.
Get a party! Make some friends! That's what this whole game is about mate. I also never said grinding was entertaining or even fun all the time, but it is rewarding as all hell when you reach your end goal.
Aside from lmpq/lpq (which are also less popular than before due to exp nerf) and bosses nobody really parties anymore. WS used to be a popular map for parties but since new source nerfed it nobody really trains there anymore and everyone just go leech instead. So you can either grind alone and get bored or just leech instead
