I have been working on a new wiki site to replaces royals.wiki (and its predecessors) - something that is self-hostable and works offline, in case Nexon decides to DMCA the version I'm hosting.

It's currently in an alpha/beta version. It works, but I really need feedback from the community to validate if this is something people want and it's built in a way that's intuitive and provides value.

Here is a link to the official thread for the project: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/alpha-scrolled-your-mapleroyals-wiki.257994/

Please check it out and provide feedback on anything. Here are some specific details I'm particularly unsure about if you aren't sure what to critique:

    • Start Page
      • Does it do a good job of explaining what the project does? Is it clear why you need to provide your own files? Do you understand what you'll be able to see before you even start?
    • Setup Wizard
      • How easy was it to follow the instructions? Did you have any issues providing game files, or didn't know what files to provide? How fast did the setup feel?
    • Home Page
      • Are the categories of links on the home page useful? Do you feel you can customize the home page to match what you would want to see when you open the website?
    • Search Bar/Command Palette
      • Is it intuitive to use the search bar? Are the right results showing up when you search for things? Were you able to figure out the shortcuts easily? Did you find other commands in the command palette and do you see yourself using it to navigate?
    • Table Pages
      • Are the default columns for each of the table pages useful? Did you figure out how to filter by additional columns? What should the default sorting be for each table? Do you understand what a "saved search" is?
    • Collections
      • Were you able to figure out how to add things to an existing collection or create a new collection? What can you forsee yourself using collections to track? What additional metadata would you want to store for each entity in a collection? Are there additional features (like grouping, progress tracking, etc.) which would make collections more relevant to your goals?
    • Details Pages
      • For each page for a specific NPC/Map/Quest/Item/Equip/Weapon - Is it easy to quickly scan the page to get the information you were looking for? Is there any information missing? Is there any information that you wish to hide by default? Are the subsections ordered intuitively?
    • Minimap Viewer
      • On a page for a map, click on the minimap to open the minimap viewer - Is the overview, with all of the icons on the map, easy to understand? Is the UI for disabling layers (to reduce clutter) obvious? Are you able to quickly find an NPC/Mob/Portal on the map using the sidebar? Is there any information missing from this view which would help?

    Open Questions:
    • Generally, how does it feel to use the website? Do you find yourself lost when trying to navigate or find menus? Is it aesthetically pleasing?
    • What information from other reference sites, like the royals library website or any previous wiki (like royals.wiki), is obviously missing from this website?
    • How do you feel about a website that uses your own files and stores things within the browser? One concern may be that clearing your cookies/site data could delete all of your data

Please leave any feedback in this forum post, or if you want to talk about more things then feel free to hit me up on Discord (redbackthomson)
