    Step 1
Open the Control Panel and select "Adjust Screen Resolution" from the Appearance and Personalization category.

    Step 2
Click "Advanced Settings" in the bottom left corner of the Screen Resolution window.

    Step 3
Click the "Monitor" tab and set your monitor's refresh rate in the "Screen Refresh Rate" drop-down menu.

Then you apply the changes and save them. Theres probably a faster way, but im not home right now to see what I do myself to change it. Hope this helps :)

Hmm.. Well, I read about there being some issues with the settings showing 60hz, yet it could be something like 59,9 and "flicker games" but idk. The only thing I could think of other than that is the game resolution - or how you set the game(s) to run on your screen(I dont remember right here and now how to do that, since im not home, but I know I fixed how my maple ran in full screen by doing this).

If you try google "game flickering in fullscreen windows 8" or similar, uou should find things you can try out.

Sorry I couldnt help you fix the main problem, but at least you can play window mode :)

Maybe someone else got some good ideas?

If the refresh rate doesn't match with maple, the game simply wont play in windowed mode at all.
If you're curious about it still, the thread I made about that issue is here http://royals.ms/forum/threads/windowed-mode-refuses-to-happen.41258/

As far as flickering it could be any number of things like display drivers, to your monitor simply not supporting 640x480 fullscreen. Some newer monitors can't even handle going as low as 800x600. Since you tried this on multiple monitors with the same computer i'm willing to believe its more a driver issue than hardware.

When you say "goes to black", does it look like the screen is still "on" as far as brightness is concerned or does the monitor itself fade black? You might also notice the power light on your monitor blink or change colors as it does this to indicate it constantly trying to switch resolutions.

The monitor light doesn't do anything, it stays to its normal blue color. When the monitor would look like its turned off it'd be a yellow color.
