How about just buffing Hyper Body? Non-monetized, simple, makes DRKs more relevant, doesn’t break the HP wash economy. Still have an incentive to wash because if you did wash it would mean you don’t need a DRK, but buffing it would mean non-washed parties only need a DRK to enjoy the entirety of end game content and that’s it. Maybe I’m over simplifying it but I don’t think so, and haven’t been able to find a reason why it wouldn’t work.
In my opinion, the "obligation" to hp wash is kind of fucked up. It makes the community wildly unbalanced, as people prefer creating bishops and making lots of money. Moreover, gameplay has become dramatically different from gms, because people leech their characters instead of actually playing, as they have all their SP on int. This is super weird and I don't understand why people find playing like this enjoyable. It feels more like a race. And I know, washing isn't actually obligatory, I actually have an unwashed BM and I had loads of fun playing and even bossing with it. But I also know I won't be able to do ht or other bosses, which is fine. The bigger problem in my opinion is the game turning into a money-making and min/maxing machine instead of grinding, pqing and socializing like old times. I honestly think the leeching/washing market should be abolished, forcing people to grind and pq in order to level up, like the game was meant to be played. I would like to suggest two rather radical optional solutions: 1. Make hp washing less relevant: this can be done in many ways already suggested, like nerfing damage, or giving (substantial) MaxHP for doing quests or achieving monster book sets. This has been partially done, but honestly the obtainable extra HP isn't enough, and washing is still required. I'd say make the HP questline much more beneficial, but also way harder. And maybe add similar questlines or more options. People should grind and make an effort to achieve the extra HP. After all, the base of maplestory was always grinding. It could also be a bit more fun if the HP would be obtainable in pqs (like dojo). My addition to these existing suggestions is make ap resets untradable. I know this will hurt the sensitive economy, but honestly why is that bad? There shouldn't be a whole economy based on something that was so irrelevant in the original game. The biggest pro of this idea is forcing people to play the game the way it was meant to be, instead of a min/maxing race. 2. Make hp washing way cheaper and easier: obviously I support this option less, because I think it's natural for warriors to have an advantage having more hp and it shouldn't be that easy to maximiza hp. But if we reduce ap reset prices, while reducing the mp cost to 4 per use to all jobs, it would break the washing economy and archers/thieves wouldn't have to put all their points into int in order to wash. HP wash has become a culture surrounding MapleRoyals, someone once said after playing Dark Souls 100 times, are you ever going to go about it the same way you did the 1st time? No. Of course you’re going to shortcut and find the fastest way possible to end game. I don’t think HP washing should be removed entirely as you suggest, it drives the economy and is an easy way for new players to make money. However I do think there needs to be a way to allow those who want to enjoy 1-135 just as much as 135-200, and that means not washing. That means adding some way to balance out the HP for unwashed attackers, personally I think Hyper Body should just get buffed, that’s just me though.
Its the culture of mapleroyals to be non gms like ? and not nostalgic ? this is nothing like GMS,i actually played for a really long time at the server and didnt even know about the hp wash . had to open a bishop ,leech ,get money, wash. and guess what. i dont really like my 21k hp without hb DRK .. lol billions of mesos just to realize its not so awesome. i want a nl i never had a nl , but i never will with the current situation. i aint got 8 hours a day to grind ,i only do gacha or sell ap resets and play for one hour a day maybe ,not even everyday .. will i ever boss anything ? i might just quit to minecraft or whatever.
