I was thinking about this while doing Magatia questline like, "If I can get Ellin Forest Guardian medal for doing the whole questline, why not give me a medal for doing the same exact thing here?", like why not? As for the stats, they dont really have to be godly or whatsoever, maybe scale them according to the contents? Region specific medals, obtaining by completing chains of region-related questline, such as : Magatia Orbis Mu Lung NLC/CWK Ludibrium Showa Perion Kerning Shao Ariant If possible, how about region specific Monster Collector medal, like the region Explorer medals? They will not rival the Monster Collector medal, preferably PQ Bosses? Maybe slip some meme challenges medal while at it? They dont give any worthy stats, mostly just reflects your habits or stuff you do in games Fall down and take damages 100 times NPC items 1000 times NPC items 5000 times NPC items 10000 times Drop items 1000 times Create a character and dont marry for 1 year Change face 50 times (like Dynamic Hair) Use Gacha ticket 10 times Use Gacha ticket 50 times Use Gacha ticket 100 times
I don't like the last couple of medals. They were obtained really easily and don't have any nostalgic merit to them, at least to me. You could jump off some high spot in Henesys and portal back and repeat 100 times for a free HP medal. Or I think even just selling or trashing stacks of arrows gave you the item related medals. I wouldn't mind seeing these medals if the requirements were changed to be more challenging.
I think a nice addition would be a medal for finishing all available Jump Quests in the game, since 'Quest Bundle' medals are feasible to be a thing with Persevering Challenger. There'd be the two Ellinia JQs, the three Sleepywood JQs, the three Kerning Subway JQs, and the Toy Factory JQ (perhaps even add some sort of flag that checks if you've done the Zakum JQ since that one exists in such an infamous cultural sphere on the server). Complete them all and get a medal that gives you +21 Jump or something fittingly silly like that. I'm certainly not suggesting this because I actually bothered completing all these, no sir. Also: I agree with Vector, those medal banners are rad.
In my opinion I'm okay with leaving those last few the way they are requirement wise, and just making them stat-less is fine. There are more than enough options for medals with stats, so in my eyes those last few medals are really just cosmetic and for our hene/fm/kerning-hoe buddies. I think having region specific monster collector and region specific content medals is quite repetitive. It is probably best to leave the collector medals as they are in game now and instead introduce the first set of medals. Of course, it would be cool to have a healthy mix of the two (so complete some set of quests and obtain some set of cards. This would be great for something like ToT.) It is still reasonable to consider additional collector medals which are like the PQ boss one you suggested. I really like those designs. I'm interested in what they would offer stat wise. Currently I believe the most useful medals we have are the Quest ones, Collector, and Ellin Forest (I suppose Ergoth's Bane for +500 HP). It seems to me that there is plenty of room for some "niche" medals (for example, one that gives high speed and jump, or +5 str and nothing else, etc.) Medals are a part of the game which I really enjoyed. I think they are a great way for people to gain a nice stat boost and show off. I hope to see more input on this from others.
More medals are always welcome, the only problem is stats. Most medals are just useless at most levels, and the few that aren't, are what everyone uses, except for fashion or irony. I think class specific medals might be more fun than all of these Bandit/shadower "Treasure hunter" successfully steal equipment (not common/etc/use) from monsters 1k times Stats Hands +100 +4 dex +4 int +20 avoid boosts steal rate +5% Sins/NL could have one for 1hko monsters their level or higher, or while trapped in shadow web +20 avoid +4 dex +4 int Shadow web lasts 16 seconds Mm one shot x amount of mobs while blind, or with mortal blow +25 avoid +80 mp +4 dex increased stats of mortal blow/darkness resistance/blind stats, etc Bm "Eagle Scout" Kill x amount of stunned mobs from 3rd job summon or burning mobs from phoenix +3 str +4int +7 jump Slow/weakness resistance Paladins destroy x amount of undead mobs, etc. +200 def +200 m.def Poison/seal resistance increased stats to threaten, can lower boss def/m.def -30 for 5 seconds) Hero use coma/panic on bosses during weapon cancel x amount of times +100 def +100 m.def +10 speed/jump increased damage and range to rush and shout, stun resistance (heroic things lol) drks KO mobs using sacrifice while dragon's blood is active x times +66 def +66 mdef +15 acc +20 avoid increases stats to sacrifice, sac has chance to ignore w. cancel, and iron will Bucc "energy surfer" Kill a ton with energy attacks +10 acc +2 str energy charge and drain stats increase, 10% stun resist Sair "Sky pirate" Kill x amount during wings Small buff to max wings/gaviota +10 avoid etc etc. things the classes do inherently (steal, assassinate), but don't overpower them. No w. Att or hp buffs
The medals available are weirdly balanced. You've got this entire slew of region Explorer medals which are only marginally different compared to the free job advancement medals. Like, differences of about 25-50 HP when compared to each other. Or you've got Ossyria Explorer, which is identical to Veteran Explorer, except one requires you to have unlocked like 7 other medals beforehand. If I was Wizet 18 years ago making this game, I'd deprive all medals of stats and just give the bonuses to you as permanent upgrades. That way, there's incentive to collect as many medals as you can for the bonuses to your stats (making challenges that give incredibly small upgrades like +1 DEX worth doing). The title under your name would just be aesthetic, so you could show off whatever you like at no disadvantage.
Custom medal where you combine a medal with stats you want and medal with looks you desire, and giving them any names you want Make it works like name change thingy, moderated by staffs so no one can go out with a medal that has offensive thing
Instead of a medal they should give you a nice NX equip that you can always use and show. I will ALWAYS use my strongest medal no matter what and will throw away those medals after using them once. NX Equips are forever. My two favorite cities are Ludibrium and Sleepywood, I would LOVE to have a Lego Helmet or a sleepywood themed outfit (Like those NPCs at sleepy). Imagine if they gave you that reward for completing the quest line, getting al cards in the area, and exploring the whole thing. I would TOTALLY try to get em.
if this were to be implemented, i would be able to claim like 20 of these right away time to free up equip space
I really like how Tutorial put it. But since medals are quite established at this point, why don't we focus on medals with specific use cases (statwise) and include something like 'perks'. An idea that I've had in my head for a bit is medal perks (perhaps like some things people have mentioned before.) For example, I dislike when my fast travel ticket expires. Yes, it's essentially 2m a day for no wait time while traveling, but how convenient would it be if fast travel was a perk? For example, if I have the Ossyria Explorer medal, then I've earned the fast travel from Ellinia -> Orbis. Each respective area has it's own medal... you get the idea. Or, if you really want to gate the perk behind some difficulty, the Quest Specialist/Virtuoso medals can act like permanent fast travel tickets; if you have those medals, there's a good chance you've traveled all over the game. I feel in this way one can earn something (osrs agility shortcuts, anyone?) If anyone else likes this idea (or has the same idea), I'd like to hear other perspectives.
Fast travel tickets are a luxury that is used to sink in meso, if the challenge to get this ability is not difficult enough, it will only have a negative impact on the game overall. And even if it is, as long as it is worth it for the long term, too many people will actually do it, and make the fast travel tix meaningless. I got a small idea to make it work tho: People don't always need to travel SO MUCH in one day, which makes buying a daily one feel like a waste. So, taking from your idea, have a difficult medal that represents the area [lets say, X amount of card sets from the area, and the main questline in that area / few key questlines done] will award you with the ability to buy a one time use of a fast travel ticket from the ticket seller in the ship map that would cost 400k for example. That way, if you know you will only need one or two ships in your daily commute, it will be cheaper for you than buying the daily ticket.
Fast travel tix are indeed a luxury/meso sink, that's why I mentioned that the cost is 2m per day (how much of a meso sink is this really though?) But since I don't have access to the numbers, I will not combat you on this point (especially considering the long term, you are most likely correct.) I really like your idea. This preserves the meso sink benefit, while also remaining a nice enough perk. You bring up a fantastic point in regards to how much traveling people actually do in one day (on average). Finally, my original intention was to tie this idea specifically to medals, however it's evident that there is further potential for this idea, and perhaps we should instead discuss in a separate thread to not veer off the topic.
Hi there! The Medals that are currently out have been a little bit lackluster compared to GMS, and as far as I can remember some Medals have been broken since the beginning of time. We do have concepts and drafts already written up from the beginning of this year to add in more Medals! Right now we have around 16 Medals fleshed out and we plan on implementing all of them at some point in the near future. However, due to some client limitations and a lot of our Admins and Dev’s free time being allocated elsewhere, implementing these Medals are pretty low on the priority list. We would rather release all of them in one go; rather than the ones that are currently capable of being released in this stage. I cannot promise you we will have them out by the end of this year, or maybe even next year, but I can promise you that we already have the concepts mapped out and we basically have everything else ready except for the time needed to accurately put them in the game. The Medal ideas you've proposed are interesting and we definitely will consider those alongside the ones we have in the works!
