Most likely a stupid question but, how active and newb friendly is the server?

I personally am having loads of fun on this nostalgia and not Pay-to-Win server!

I wasn't expecting to make friends here because I wasn't sure how active this server is but surprisingly there are lots of people that just want to chat and have fun (ie. I'll do a quest and they'll just hang around and we'll just talk). Also, I know I can make more money selling APRs but I have a lot more fun collecting and selling quest items for really cheap (it reminds me of old school MapleStory) because the prices here are quite inflated. So I'm just enjoying the game the way I like to!

barrier of entry here is MUCH easier and quicker compared to GMS. because rwt is instaban here and making mesos is extremely easy, endgame equips being quite cheap (you can deck out a decent ranged character for 100b, which takes about 500 hours of leech selling which isnt much if you play for a year). in GMS to reach decent range you need to spend 10k+ USD on non-reboot servers and either bot or 10 thousand hours on reboot farming mesos.

 

Server dead? people are really tossing that word around then

MapleRoyals is the top rated private server and one of the most populated servers out there. I can only think of one other that has a similar average player count. All the other popular servers usually have about half the players online.

 

I think it largely all depends on your luck of who you meet. I have met my fair share of friendly people, yet have also met my fair share of just plain horrible people. For example, I had someone insulting my mother yest, definitely not as a joke. Just this morning, I had someone trying to spawn kill people at ulu 1. A bucaneer was luring and standing at the spawn spot so that the mob kept attacking the spawn spot.

Yet, the reason I have spent so many hours in game is also because of the many wonderful people that I have met. Hence, it's really the luck of the draw. But, like what my guildmate told me, just ignore those horrible experience and focus on the positive.

 

Sorry i think the barrier of entry is much much lower than you seem to think. This servers top endgame boss is ht, the timer for ht is 10h+ meaning that pretty much any team with 6 level 155 unfunded players with enough hp to survive would be able to down it within the time restriction. You don't have to sell even 1hour of leech to make it to endgame on this server, personally I sold approximately a total of 10-20hours of leech before my sair hit 200 and till this day I've barley sold any leech, for me it has been more of a natural progression. However I have also farmed a lot of mesos for the past years, but that is just so that I will be able to compete for the best attack gears that are sold which is not a necessity.

The barrier of entry is very small like I mentioned it feels like natural progression you start out killing snails, then doing pqs, selling ap resets, gaching, grinding and eventually you're killing end game bosses with the friends you've met along the way. The only hard part is how long it takes to level and how boring it can get at times. The gears will come a long as you're just playing the game you will make mesos for upgrades.

I'm not saying that everyone or anyone will be taking you to endgame bosses if you have an unfunded char I'm just saying it is possible to kill endgame bosses with no funds.
