Maple Europe probably had about 10k+ players (idrk), and they didn't add Demethos untill years after, and I never experienced any major problems there, so I don't think that's the case here yet.
If you MUST know the reason why I am for a new world, it is mainly due to the current state of the server and game progression. First, I want to say this is not an enormous server - this isn't GMS, Maple Europe, any actual MapleStory corporation - it is a Private Server, so comparing populations just shouldn't be done in my opinion. Secondly, my main gripe with the current server is the level of equipment people currently have, and will have in a years time. A year ago there were how many 16+ attack shoes? One, two, MAYBE three? How many are there now? How many perfect weapons were there a year ago? One, two? How many are there now? Countless. Now this makes sense, that is just what happens with servers, gear progresses over time. But with a private server that has minimal updates and a population of a few hundred very active high level players? Well now things look a wee bit different. Essentially, a year from now, this server will be so saturated with godly gear that it will be rather ridiculous (this is all my opinion). I personally do not find a game enjoyable when everyone is running around with godly, end game nearly unupgradeable gear. Something about the average level 160 running around with a 15 att shoe, 17 att cape, and a perfect weapon like it's no big deal is a turn off to me. These are supposed to be ultra rare and highly coveted. In v.62 if you saw someone with a 16 att shoe you go "Holy jesus christ". In MapleRoyals you go, "Not bad, you gunna gunna go for 21+?". In normal MMOs you generally don't get these problems. Why? Because they are constantly adding updates and progression to PREVENT stagnation points such as these. Too many people have 10 attack work gloves? Fine let's add dark scrolls with 30%s. Need more progerssion? Okay gachapon exclusive items. More? Okay chaos/white scrolls. More? Okay cubes. Notice how the same idea of updates and progression that prevents these stagnation points and prevents all players from running around with identical end game gear is often times what also kills these games in the long run (way too many updates, people running around with 20k luk and maxed everything, where GMS is now). So now we have a server that is meant to be nostalgic and meant to be fun. There are a limited amount of updates that can be had and a relatively small population with higher than exp/drop/meso rates. Usually private servers have wipes after x amount of time - but let's be honest, nobody on MapleRoyals (or very few) want an entire server wipe with the current Scania being reverted back to normal. I would assume many would quit and never come back, though many would stay and embrace the new race. Personally, I think a wipe is plausible, but there may be far too many that quit to be good for the Server and many would be upset. This brings me to my fix for this situation. A year ago I joined and the population was something like 300-400 at a time. We are currently around 700-1k at a time. My suggestion was to add a new world (possibly with some world specific changes, such as changing drop tables of certain mobs or changing how chaos scrolls work if this is possible to do on a world-to-world basis). Many claim "ohhh we need 5000 players for that to work though!". I say no, a year ago I joined and there was less than half of what there is now in terms of players and everything ran perfectly fine. There were more than enough players, especially when you can edit the number of channels. Not to mention that in the first few months of the server it may very well seem overly saturated with everyone using the same general leveling areas to progress through the game. Further more, the second most popular nostalgic server is running on something like 140-160 players at any given time. Basically, I feel that a new server gives a fresh start, it allows us to fix some of the issues that MapleRoyals started out with (insane farming places such as Gobys, godly drop tables in popular training places such as ULU and skeles, 8k nx per vote? etc. etc.), and now you have a great server again with an amazing community and it will again take 1-2+years for the gear dillema to even begin to appear again or get to where it is now, where perfect clean weapons are sometimes up for sale for months because nobody wants it anymore. Hopefully what I said makes sense and describes what my view point is. Now of course we don't NEED new world, heck many people could care less about gear or how progressed everyone else is. It is simply how I play the game and everyone running around with perfect weapons 20 attack shoes and other godly items is a turn off to ME. Just my opinion. If it happens it happens, if it doesn't, oh well. If I missed any points feel free to point them out. TLR Private server hasn't had a wipe in x amount of time. Within a year everyone will have 18 attack shoes and perfect weapons. I don't really like the idea of that, those items should be rare and difficult to obtain/very few of them on a server. Instead of a wipe just create a new world with a few minor changes (if the coding allows for that) in attempt to make it "last longer" than the original world. The population of MapleRoyals now is large enough to sustain another world, even if one os more popular than the other. My reasoning for this is a year ago we were half of the current population and doing perfectly fine, and even now the 2nd most popular nostalgic server is only running on 140-160 concurrent players.
I totally understand why some of you would be against this (lowering the population of the original server) But I don't really see that as a huge issue to be quite honest. These are just my thoughts and my ideas....something that may be considered...feedback/suggestions Also hopefully all of that made sense I just woke up =X
It's not a bad idea, but should be nowhere near priority, imo. Although I think 1x exp is still too extreme. 2x-4x exp would be better.
i think the current server is too easy and stale and the problems at the root are multiclienting, white scrolls, and current meso & drop rates. multiclienting is doing things in parallel. the only downside to it is that you can't be as efficient on each client, but when you only have to do anything meaningful in one client (bishop) and the other two still benefit with minimal interaction (farming rags/charms/stoppers and leeching off your bishop on a rope), it gets to the point where if you don't multiclient, you're falling WAY behind. and with the Trade button on this server, one can make multiple skill mules and park them at FM. making these mules takes a bit of time, but once you got the skill you need you'll have a lifetime of benefits thanks to multiclienting. it makes things way too easy and sort of ruins the synergy between classes, discouraging party play since you can do everything by yourself whenever you want to. white scrolls completely ruin the concept of scrolling and is a ridiculously broken mechanic. scrolls are supposed to fail sometimes. there are so many perfect weapons around and being shared between players that it makes any imperfect weapon undesirable in comparison. current meso & drop rates are being abused with mages spamming ultimates at gobys. you can make close to 100m/hr of RAW MESO straight out of the server from NPCing equips and picking up meso bags. i shouldn't have to explain why this is bad for the economy, the server is literally printing money at gobys. by the way, why isn't speed infusion fixed? most of the server's richest people abuse SI with their mages (SI should not work for mages) at gobys. i know multiple players who have made over 30b of raw meso there. it's easy and guaranteed money and is better than any other place in comparison, by far. if you don't multiclient and abuse SI at gobys, you're falling behind. of course if you put in more time than others you should be better than them, but this server has a simple formula that if you don't follow, you fall behind. my proposed features are 2/2/2 rates, remove WS, make chaos boom at 50% rate if it fails, reduce amount of nx through voting per day, and a few of the beta changes (fixed tp rocks come to mind). that's what i'd do to make things last longer.
I think you are overreacting , to an avg player , perfecting a weapon (which are weapons like revolver , shiner bow , purple sleeve , skies , skull , etc , when you go 7 10s with ws ) , getting 12+ ATT Shoes , 14+ att cape , 17att + glove , washing hard enough to boss without HB , take A LOT of time / dedication and it's not that easy like you make it look . plz no harsh
It's part of the game, but yea it's a bug that I'm not even sure is a high priority right now, so I don't know if it will be changed or not, but yes, I totally agree, SI with mages are a little too extreme, and I hope this will be considered.
it's part of the game like beholder was being abused to res you and horntail was being frozen. both of those were fixed, so speed infusion should be next. that's the last i'll say of this since it's off topic
I think the best way to go about this would be get it taken to a server wide vote. 1 - New Server 2 - New Server Modified Loot Table 3 - More Channels 4 - Keep it as is
more channels has nothing to do with this new server, please read the other posts. you could have a new server and still add channels here.
I know it has nothing to do with what he asked for. But i am sure there are lots of people who would rather more channels over a new server.
this thread isn't for requesting additional channels if they have nothing to do with what he asked for. if you think we need additional channels then make a new thread for them.
Except more channels solves absolutely none of the issues brought up in this thread and is completely off topic...
You should make a new thread about adding more channels, that's actually not a bad idea Except more channels solves the abundance of crowded training spots, allows more bosses to spawn, won't take up as much resources as adding a new world, won't split the community and ill it like it did you Ellinia, won't require more GMs, and is a generally easier, better solution
There are no issues with the current server. Lets just answer my favorite one then. People have godly gear and there is heaps of it. Gloves Cape Shoes Weapon. Now tell me how many people have godly chest pants eye acc face acc pendant helmet. There are no where near as many. SO gear is not a problem since there are heaps of slots that can still be improved upon. The only suggestions you have that is worth adding would be taking a book from GMS and adding a 50% chance for Chaos Scrolls to blow items up if they fail and that can just be patched into the current server. There is also the White Scrolls, They could just make WS a 70% chance to work with a 100% boom chance i like that idea. But the thing is none of this needs a new server. It can just be brought into the current server since as the player base increases the mount of current "Godly" items will be limited and therefore seem rare again. You also seem to forget another server would mean a higher upkeep cost unless they run them both of the same server what seems pointless.
can't comment on proposed rates, but the WS and chaos are brilliant suggestions. white scrolls are so, SO, unbelievably OP, and I actually think chaos scrolls are even more so. no risk perfect weapon. lulz.
