I would imagine the classic cash shop would be more close to how it was at launch which for the first year or two of original GMS was pretty much only cosmetic. There was no Auto Hp/MP and only pet auto loots which some might qualify as"p2w" but I think its more pay for convenience and dont think it falls under the umbrella of what most consider part of the egregious "p2w". The baseline tele rock might also have been in the cash shop but I cant remember exactly. Ap Resets, Exp/drop coupons, Gach, VIP rocks, loot box keys and buying of literal sacks of mesos with nx all came later. I can still remember reading a post from a Wizet GM sometime in 2006 where they stated they had no intention of adding p2w to the cash shop and that it would remain cosmetic only. Interestingly enough I still have a link to an article discussing when they first added AP resets for anyone interested https://tinyurl.com/55m2du8c If this is how the state of the Classic cash shop was for the first year plus, I'd consider that a huge win for players
i think i will try it to see if is the classic world is good or or not but i don't give my hope up so much. mostly because most maps will look different.
I'm most apprehensive about having to pay real money for NX again, especially since those items will likely expire and won't be tradeable and my money is better spent on real life as I'm not 12 anymore. No more mowing lawns for $20 and a trip to Rite-Aid. Rule enforcement here is amazing. The tight-knit community here is amazing. This server has been running for longer than OSMS's original run. You can tell they really REALLY care about this server. I have my doubts that Nexon will show the same love and care for their official implementation. I am looking forward to trying the Official GMS Classic server to re-experience a highly populated Maple. That's about it. Otherwise I really prefer Royals over the original OSMS. I can always play on Kat's server if I really want a more authentic experience. But that being said some part of me is still excited that an official version will exist again. Definitely gonna play it, but if I stick around is another story. A MAPLE STORY. Thanks for reading!
I started maplestory in the beta days and let me tell you. No one actually wants 1x rates lmao. Even in the days where i had no responsibilities the progress felt slow. Now that the players that Classic would appeal to are adults and have limited time they arent going to be able to stick with it. As someone else said they'll get their nostalgia fix and realize they cant keep up with that anymore. The potential is still there of course if they can strike a good balance of bringing the classic feel while also making alot of QOL changes. If they actually stick close to a 1 to 1 experience though I doubt its going to be all that successful. And if they ever introduce Gacha and especially Item potentials again then its the beginning of the end all over again which seems exremely likely
