I would propose the Owl of Minerva cost to be reduced to 1m, or even lesser. We use it for a few reasons: Get the absolute lowest price of (expensive) things in the market Price check Find some cheap but rarely sold item For the above: This is fine, we pay 3m premium for the lowest price hunt. Probably a good investment. This is bad. -For example, I am searching for a FEMALE lv80 thief bottom. This eq is already rare enough, it comes in: green, red, black at least. So am I supposed to spend 3*3m just to search? - Another example is the list of scrolls we get from gacha run. Nobody memorises, or keeps to date prices of all scrolls. Say if I have 15 scrolls, do I spend 45m on owl just to price check? I know there are several price links available, but they are few months, if not few years old, I don't think they are relevant anymore This one... Is the dumbest one. Something rare but cheap, for example skill quest items like story books. it costs 1~5m only, but nobody is going to surf 20 rooms in fm for it. The cost of Owl-ing could be more than the item itself. This is ridiculous Another rather practical reason to do this is: a. People are fighting for FM spots, to great extents: -Not setting up 2nd/PIC password to have super quick login to game -Some went on macro botting for the sake of sniping spots b. If Owl is cheaper, there will be lesser incentive to fight for FM spots, and therefore problem (a) above should be resolved to some extent. c. I am not sure about the devs during server checks, but do they get a lot of time pressure from players to get the server up ASAP, so that they can snipe Fm spots? If there is lesser incentive for it, the devs will have lesser pressure to do it. Happier employee ayyy?
Previous discussions involving owl. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/thoughts-on-removing-owl-of-minerva-in-fm.195434 https://royals.ms/forum/threads/the-free-market.152549/ This has been discussed many times before. We have no plans to adjust the current price of owls, especially not decrease it, as it functions as a meso sink. As mentioned in one of the threads, simply 1 day of voting provides you with enough money for, in this current day, 6 owls, and that is by doing 20 seconds worth of work. If anything, remarkably I think the price of owls is well balanced; I and many others have used them to merch specific items constantly, with consistent profit. For your points on less expensive items (books, specialized equips), you could use megaphones and set up threads to search for particular items you're interested in. Many books are also easy to hunt, and the more expensive/rare ones (10m+) are probably worth an owl anyway. For price checks, many people pride themselves on their market knowledge and keeping up with the trends; this is also part of the game itself imo. Depending on the quantity of scrolls you have and their approximate value, it would still be worth to owl. Further, price guides may be 'outdated', but you can still get an idea or price range on what scrolls are deemed monetarily valuable by the community. Another part of the game (as determined by a majority of the community) is fighting for FM spots. People like the rush, and they like the prestige of having, say, a 1-1 spot. This is not really an issue as spots are pretty abundant. No, there is no pressure coming from players' desires for FM spots. If there is any pressure, it comes from the developers and staff team as a whole wanting to ensure that content is implemented properly. We appreciate your feedback, and I personally appreciate you laying out your argument. Thank you.
