Notice Patch 01/01/17

If you go to the homepage of our forum it shows the server time on the top right below your profile, or if you go to our homepage it shows on the top left under "server time".

 

It's true we should be grateful for all the work they have done thus far. I think most of us genuinely enjoy being a part of the game. MR would not have become what is it today without the tireless effort of the team. However, credit should be given where credit is due. You have to judge each action on its own merit. A distinction can be made between the fact that they did a good job maintaining the server and the fact that they failed to deliver on their word. Sitting back and basically saying we should accept our fate is no way to improve the server.

Of course there will always be bootlickers (obsequious players) nodding to every decision the team makes and too eager to give a standing ovation each time they hear a fart. I think these are the worst kind of players you can have. They have no opinions of their own whatsoever and blindly defend the authority which in turn reinforces the mainstream perspective. If you're weak you would be swayed and turn submissive. Thus it is up to some of us who are labelled by the community as "The Rebels" to try and make things right. We make sure our criticisms are heard and we are sure it is a part of a bigger voice of the fraction of the community who is afraid to speak out.

You also seem to be very quick to dismiss the role donators play. I'm all for fairness and equality. I believe donators should never have any special advantage in game. However, you cannot deny the importance in the incentives donators provide for the administrator to continually improve the server. Of course if you were the least ambitious person, maybe you just wish you could play the next day. Just because all the transactions are conveniently labelled as donations, we lose the human prerogative to ask for better updates in the name of improving the server which would benefit everyone?

Lastly, I am more concerned about the detrimental effects that people who sit in their chairs feeling easily content about everything, good or bad, might bring to the server.

In a nutshell, we should praise and criticise as apt but still love one another.

Listen son, you praise yourself for your well paying job and you being 'generous' with money, you're a joke. I'm pretty sure some people are working really hard for their money, paying their own study / books / gym / what ever.
if you were generous you'd spend it on real matters like charities, buy your mom a present. You should not be praised for being a donator, as this server is for anyone. They're indeed doing their job, and they're not being paid for it. It's completely voluntarily however this looks good on their CV. And I'm pretty sure they're ENJOYING the server aswell, right?

How am I even rude? I'm pretty sure I stated we have to be thankful and grateful, but the players should be praised aswell. I've always thought this playing for free excuse to be funny, if Matt wanted he could ask money for it. He'd have 50 players, that's fine, right?
Donation system works for me, good thing it's not pay to play. but it's like saying be thankful cinemas dont charge you 200 dollar for a movie. Ohwait, if they did, they wouldn't ever sell a ticket.

All in all, I'm not flaming or shaming any GM, staff or player whatsoever. I'm just saying the comments here are really pussified. I'm grateful for this server, respect for the stability, but the players should be praised as much. This patch was promised long ago, real men don't go back on their promises.

Everybody should know by now anyways that MapleRoyals is a registered business in the United Kingdom. It is not a charity, like you might want to believe. If you search the following on Google, you will find the incorporation documents on an official government website:



You guys may like to believe that Royals is some charity where your money goes to provide the servers but the reality is that Royals makes a profit off donations. If it truly were a "charity", it would at least be transparent about where the money was going. It wouldn't register as an official business otherwise. Matt's official response to why he registered the business:

In other words, Royals needed to make more money than the $10,000 USD / month limit that Paypal imposes on European businesses. Ask yourself this - does Royals actually need more than $10,000 USD per month to run the server?

Even if this is true, why are you complaining? Nexon charged people for buying nx cash anyways. It's still the same game, same procedure if you want nx or in this case (Donator items).

Before any speculation begins, I banned @btr4n from the forums while they were posting under the forum account barbedthorns. It turns out, they actually had the forum account btr4n, which if you look at their post history, you can see why they are someone that has not been welcomed in the community for the past 2 years when they were permanently banned from the server. Carry on

Honestly though, Royals is quite addicting, so to be deprived of it for days would invariably cause frustration among its users.

 

Guys I think we should just look at both end of the spectrum and try to be understanding to everyone. It obviously is a frustration that the patch has gotten delayed for so long but at the same time, there is only a limited amount of staff, who are trying to work on things during their holiday breaks.

At the same time, it's reasonable to criticize that because Royals possibly make profit(s) from donations. However, please don't overlook the fact that Matt probably dedicate an abundance of time to this server, which means that he likely needs the income to support himself/family. Of course you can argue that since it is his job, he has to stay true to his words and deliver on his promises, but who's to say he's not making an effort. He doesn't have a whole team of people to solve problems at instant speed so every road bump his small team has to figure out on their own.

It's easy for us to conclude that he's making x amount of dollars on a monthly basis but we don't know his expenses and I'm sure he puts in time and effort, which every working individual knows is worth money. I'm sure he values his server and his players and he has created a wonderful community which he doesn't want to disappoint. Since you claim that they benefit from donations, it wouldn't be ideal for them to keep it down longer than needs be, so I think it's fair to conclude their doing the best they can with he resources that they have.

I think Matt and his team recognize that many players might be upset with the delay, but their goal is to make sure the game runs optimally once the patch is released. Since it's a private server at the end of the day, you'd have to expect delays and downtime when you decided to join in the first place.

I understand the frustration you're all going through, as I personally was up for close to 40 hours waiting for the patch to be released, but at the end of the day, waiting an extra few days isn't going to make or break anything. Let's just be patient and understanding while we look for another outlet for our temporary frustration. Just my 2 cents :3

Except the charges for RP are being masqueraded as donations and some people believe because of that we have no right to ask for anything more even if it's for the betterment of the server and should accept everything as is.

In spite of them failing to meet the targeted release date, I believe the team is doing their best to ensure a smooth transition to the new sauce for all of us. However, I think shedding some light on the complications that they faced at the eleventh hour will certainly help us understand the situation and be more considerate.

In my opinion, Royals has one of the most dedicated staff and an amiable community that is able to make the most out of the server. And it is also for this reason that some of us are especially critical about Royals. But for now, criticisms aside, all we need is a little more patience and faith in the team to put the new sauce to life.

 

Lol nobody has any issue with Arcane/Eden/Ellinia/etc making a fuckton of money, shutting the server down and reopening for a surge of more money. The best get paid for what they do. Some of you are far out of touch with reality.

Royals has never met a patch deadline. Stop refreshing the homepage and find something else to do.

I don't know what they did in the past, but I think their post was respectful and doesn't really warrant a ban, unless he was a hacker or something

Its peoples own fault if they donate so why complain about it? Aslong as they are improving the server with it and listening to our suggestions and wishes to make the most out of this server, we will all have a good time.
