Notice Patch 01/01/17

I apologize as I wasnt refering directly to your statement, more as a generalized rebuttal to the 2 years of negative responses parts of the community have levied at Matt and the Admins. I guess it was your response that turned mine into a rant.

 

Yeah, they were doing that on a separate server, open beta. This is a really large project with a team that is very small working on it. And they also have real jobs and lives in addition to the time they spend working on this. They don't get paid for all the headaches and frustration. The source was not ready to be released yet, but so many people were complaining and quitting that they decided to go ahead and release it. With that comes a lot of challenges. Important things must be tested to make sure no vulnerabilities can allow people to dupe mesos or items, or otherwise cheat. That would cause server rollbacks and make everyone upset. So now they are trying to appease everyone and release this project but people are still bitching about how long it is taking. I can't stress enough that no one gets paid to work on this for 40 hours a week. It's downright shameful the amount of entitlement some players are showing. This server never had to be updated ever. And to those of you with no understanding of programming, let me try to give you an example of how difficult this monumental task is. When you were in high school, remember taking notes? You could understand your own notes for awhile, enough to get you though to the next exam or midterm. But when you were sick and had to copy someone elses notes, were you ever like "uh yeah wtf?" Did you ever go back and read your notes from a year or more ago? You probably don't understand those notes as well as you once did. That's basically programming. You write code, and then leave notes beside the code explaining what that piece of logic does. Except some programmers don't leave notes at all. Or they don't leave very detailed notes. And when you are writing something at that time it is easy to go back a day or two later and say yeah I understand this. But when you are going back to something you wrote years ago if you didn't leave detailed enough notes it can confuse even yourself. That's what the developers are dealing with. Trying to read code that was written years ago by someone else, and copying it or changing it to fit the current programming. I can't even explain to you how long that takes. I am honestly surprised at how quickly they have gotten this source together. Many praises and thanks to those that have worked on this project. And to those of you who are being ungrateful little shits, you're probably not making them want to ever do another source for us. So don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

 

Nah I get you man. Negativity is what keeps the internet rolling. Some people don't know when to be generous or compliment, however.. some people don't know when to give or take feedback either.

Man oh man I'm hyped af for this patch. I remember the good old CWKPQ days, it used to be one big mess because there'd always be people who didn't listen, lmao the frustration..

I really wonder what royals did with the patch though, gief notes.

 

It will be easier to read your post if you put in a little effort to format it by breaking it into smaller paragraphs. We can all learn to be more efficient.

This is pretty stupid, one would think you would be able to estimate the time a bit more close.... would be pretty cool if you just said at once how long it will really take

 

I could learn how to code today and still have the game fully functioning by now

 

... at least we are getting more details on the issue this time, and some sort of patch notes.

 

Pls make sure it's 5 hours. If you guys need more time just state it accurately.
We can wait but when the time's up we really hope for something real...

 

welp, guess server is closing, already extended so much, plus on a source that was made over more than a year and a half?
