Pay to win sucks, but what about pay to fix?

It seems ridiculous to me from a business perspective that Mapleroyals accept only donations as its only form of revenue. It has no pay to win system when it can implement one and makes tons of money. People have gotten banned for trading irl $ for mesos from third party sites already. A market clearly exists, why not control or profit from it?

How can a server or any business survive without money?

Royals is hardly nostalgic anyways. With the amount of leeching, dead PQ areas and empty training maps. But thats not necessarily bad. RMS is a unique server that is fun. It was mentioned before that the majority of players are 20+ with jobs and school. It seems like a stretch but pay 2 win may actually balance the economy.

Would I pay money for a good PGC, SCG, FS, godly spear? Yeah probally. I don't have time to sell leech for 1000 hours or boss like crazy.

Would implementing pay to win cause people to quit and break the economy? Yes probally. But it would also attract some people. I know countless friends who have quit because they were broke or unlucky with scrolling. Maybe pay 2 win can be a solution.

Honestly this issue is extremely complex, risky and needs further analysis. There is an entire field based on video game economics. Perhaps staff could look into it and analyse this issue further.

 

Mapleroyals isn't a business and isn't in it for the money. And 99.99% of people here quit the live version in part because of the pay to win aspect. We believe it completely and utterly ruined the game, and ruins every game that becomes pay to win.
