I don't get this? You can get chaos scrolls from the vending machine, too. Unless I'm misunderstanding this entirely you seem to think chaos scrolls are unobtainable from the vending machine.

With all respect to you mistah I actually disagree- the coins actually are a good idea which do achieve the long-term goal of stabalizing market prices of ws/chaos. This is with regards to the avaliability of ws/chaos being too common previously vis a vis their actual rates in the old school server)

I'm pretty sure Matt explained it in announcements but to reiterate: the rate of getting coins actually replaces the rate of getting Pac/PUac/Pgc/PUgc/BWG/WS/Chaos scrolls. My average rate of getting coins is roughly 3-10 for every 100 tickets I use. (I've done quite a lot recently, I'm pretty sure your 3/ 1000 is an exaggeration)

Considering the recent update where Matt decreased the amount of coins necessitated to purchase a WS/Chaos (now 75, from 150), and decreased the cost of purchasing coins with pure mesos- coins act like the mapleonomic equivalent of a price ceiling- with the maximum price of a WS/Chaos that of the monetary cost of purchasing coins needed to buy them.

Adding the factor that prices are determined by
    a) Avaliability of scrolls in the market
    b) Quantity of scrolls demanded by Pros/Regular players seeking to perfect/semi perfect equipment

I'd say that inflation is pretty much prevented- since there is a price ceiling preventing WS/Chaos from being overpriced, with market forces determining the prices. It's currently around 250-300mil (if I'm not wrong), which isn't a hugely inflated figure as compared to its previous cost)

That being said, I agree that some of the more useless def items should be removed.

The only race I see at the moment is that of racing to kill BFs- and there are so many other bosses avaliable that do not require racing: Zakum (Just gather up a squad and go) and Pap (unlimited times provided you have crack)

I think its rather unfair of you to flame royals based on the recent crashes- The server had largely achieved 99.9% uptime, with the current slew of restarts/crashes being caused by that same fellow who pretty much exploited the flaw found in V.62 P-servers.

This flaw (I think) is the reason why nexon changed the method of logging in in V.8x.

I agree that there is a limited supply of bosses/mobs for non-bishops to kill/grind at efficiently, but I think the GMs have enough on their plates at the moment to fix. BPQ maybe, in the future.

You, you get a reply first and before the other GIRL because SHE wrote a lot too. I will edit this post with the reply to the other GIRL as well, asap.

    ---

What I mean is that with the vending machine, you can buy what you want. You don't have the same thrill (or disappointment xP) of getting the item you do not want. But the gain in getting the item you don't want is that you can use it to trade for the item you do, creating a market. Soon prices are gathered, and you realize, "Oh shit I got a fucking chaos scroll mother fucking dammit I hate you all," and now you need say two of those chaos scrolls to pay for one of the white scrolls you want. This is the difference of the free market versus the controlled market.

Currently, theoretically, in reality, supposedly, white scrolls and chaos scrolls have the exact same price, as of everything with a price in the vending machines. They become relative. If a PAC is priced at 50 coins we automatically assume the PAC is one half of the cost of a white scroll if in the vending machine it costs 100 coins.

    My replies are in red.

Figured I'd add my thoughts on the rest of Ekul's post, not just comment on a mistake of his/misunderstanding of mine.

Not only are you exaggerating to the point of almost losing your credibility, but you are also wrong. The purpose was not to slow down the economy, but to stabilize it long-term - which, so far, it seems to be doing perfectly. A long-term stabilization may, however, slow down the economy initially. Why is it stupid and terrible anyway?

Yes, naturally, as bosses drop coins people are now more interested in killing bosses other than Anego and BF. The server has had a 99%+ uptime if you exclude the server being hacked, but okay. And no, the bosses' respawn rate definitely doesn't surpass the server restart rate. (With the exclusion of Piani (plural form of Pianus?) at some times: as the time it takes for them to respawn sometimes reaches 36 hours.)

So you complain about the rate of useless items (defence scrolls, ragged capes, etc) yet you want MORE of them to be added? Doesn't make sense.

    (My emphasis)

I'd just like to say that I think the Red Ragged Cape is actually a pretty useful item, as it's one of only two level 25 capes available on the server, the other being the Old Raggedy Cape, which can only be obtained from a quest once per character. All the other capes available are level 50 or higher.

Don't know about anyone else, but I was very glad to have extra lvl 25 capes available so that I could keep trying until I had an acceptable Int cape. I originally created it for my Cleric, but it will also come in handy as low-level int gear for any future characters I make/remake. Don't know how anybody else feels about this, but I think it's a shame to miss out on 25 levels worth of extra int boost from a cape or have to stick with a crappily-scrolled/100%-ed one because you're so limited in the number of Old Raggedy Capes available.

Replies in red. Again, none of this is meant to be serious flaming, just debate!

Also, the cape is useful to some, but generally it is unpopular and was just a placeholder item to make a point.

Christine is right in the sense that buying coins allows white/chaos scroll prices to be controlled by matt (government) in the form of a price ceiling on the white/chaos scroll economy. However, as this might stabilise the economy it makes the current gachapon almost useless to me (I don't know if this is the same for others), but i've lost the motivation to gachapon.. event sometimes even vote.

This is because the current gachapon phews out nothing useful or worth making money off - besides maybe int scrolls (again debateable, but for me it's true). This turns NX pretty much useless unless you wanna make your character pretty now, because AP resets and Smegas are monster drops. -> losing incentive to vote.

Luke is also right about the fact that choosing if you want a chaos/white scroll from the vendor makes it less interesting, in the past two days i've been playing noblestory (don't shoot me) and their vendor is controlled by something called trophies, similar to our maplecoins but only dropped from ONLY events (there is 9 events per weekend) with these trophies you can get white/chaos scrolls BUT it is random, a 50/50 chance when you turn in your trophies, i think this is a good idea, and should be implemented with another way to obtain coins in the server, because bosses are almost never up and gachapon is a pain with 100 tickets only getting you an average of five coins. (MORE EVENTS!?!)

In my opinion the coin system should be kept, as most people hated the past gachapon system as things were too common and spewed out way to much PACs/BWG/WHITE/CHAOS.
So unless there is another gachapon revamp (i would love to help out with) then i suggest we keep the coin system.

Overall I think there should be more Matt involvement in the economy, in the sense of something being too common/rate, matt tweeks it straight away as a form of government intervention. Therefore it might be interesting to keep twerking the coin prices up and down to fit inflation/economy at the time or have a FREE FLOATING COIN RATE LIKE NOBLE STORY, WHERE THE MARKET SETS THE PRICE!?!?! DEMAND EQUALS SUPPLY, AS I HAVE SUGGESTED FOR SO MANY BLOOMING TIMES.

Demand =/= supply, but they do work together.

The coin system just makes it so all you look forward to when gaching is hopefully getting a coin versus getting something of a variety of items. It makes gaching oh-so dreadfully dull. Like Ty said, but in weird words, without the excitement of gachapon, NX becomes almost useless, and when the only incentive to vote becomes useless, you all of a sudden see a decline in voting, which turns into a decline in new players.

i mean we want demand to equal supply to set the perfect equilibrium point and therefore the OPTIMUM PRICE!
