It doesn't really work like that, the features coming with the update e.g. character deletions, pic, etc... are very much depending on the major rework of the entire server Kevin is working on, it's significantly more involved and not possible to copy paste over the fun parts.
The event is also not completely done as there are things that require support for some special handling the event uses, the event is also dependent on the patch (new files), which is also not completely done yet.

Cutting down updates into smaller pieces does make sense, mostly at least, in this case you have three parts, the login server which is a single piece, the event, and the patch.
The event is dependent on the patch, and the patch is dependent on the event, so those two things are what could have been released sooner, if we had changed our goals and pushed back the login server update.

Less time for an update would also result in worse quality in this situation, where many general bug fixes, and things done for the patch would never have made it in time, the event would also have received less polish.
There's a tradeoff here where it takes more time to release the update, but it results in a higher quality update, it's also a lot more productive for us not splitting it up, which saves time.

I totally understand taking the time to polish everything and ensure that there are no glitches, bugs, etc., absolutely. I'm just speaking in general terms (past/future) rather than regarding this specific update. I only referenced those things (PIC, deletion, Easter Event) because they are the upcoming updates, but I did not mean for my question/suggestion to apply to specifically this update. Typically patches/updates are releasing more than 1 piece of content/change, many of which are not depending on a major rework the way this update is.

From my perspective it would have made sense to, say, get the Easter event all set, ready and released rather than having *most* of the Easter event done, and *most* of the PIC/deletion etc. done. For customer satisfaction sake, devoting 100% of his time toward getting Easter done would have had kept us players busy for weeks while Kevin could then devote 100% of his time to working on the PIC/deletion part. As it stands we've got to wait the same duration for both because his eggs are spread among multiple unfinished baskets, which makes sense for things like the PIC/deletion aspect to be paired together, but what does the Easter event have to do with the log-in/deletion stuff? They can be released individually, right? They just aren't because he is working on both at once (so they are both unfinished) opposed to getting one done and then moving on to the other. From my POV doing them one-by-one would be far more ideal than making us wait for both at a later date. This is entirely my perspective though and I fully respect y'alls decision even if it does not align with what I feel is better for the server. I also have nothing but tremendous appreciation for Kevin's hard work - no disrespect intended toward him.

Edit: I somehow missed this part "The event is dependent on the patch, and the patch is dependent on the event, so those two things are what could have been released sooner, if we had changed our goals and pushed back the login server update." but that is I guess where we have a disconnect in opinions. In my opinion it would have been better to push the log in/server update back a bit for the sake of getting the event/patch released first. Instead, we get all of it at the same time, but it requires a longer wait for us players, and since the event is based off of a holiday unrelated to the game, getting it much later than said holiday is kind of disappointing when it technically could have been released closer to the actual holiday date had his focus been on that rather than on multiple things.

You seem to be missing some crucial information here, events, patches, are things mostly not handled by Kevin, so comparing it to spreading it out and doing a little bit here and there is no true, nor accurate, most of your post is wrong. These things are done in tandem.
The event requires some things Kevin has to specifically do for it to be ready, and that will result in breaking up the work on the login server, which is why it comes last.

Like I have already explained, the event could have been released sooner, at the expense of the login server being delayed, along with an overall loss of quality for rushing it. From my point of view who do these things, that is not an acceptable tradeoff in this situation.

Who/how many people is doing it doesn’t exactly change my point of view. It could be Kevin, you, a cantaloupe and/or an elevator doing the work. At the end of the day my perspective is that it would make far more sense to get one thing done and released than to do multiple things at once with a later release date. Having the Easter event released would have been better for us players (IMO) than having us wait for the log in stuff too. 2 separate releases with shorter wait times > 1 big release with a long wait. There is no reason why the Easter event would have had to be released with a loss of quality if prioritized first - the same testing and such should take place regardless of whether it’s released first or not. Yes, the log in part would have been pushed back, but as it stands we’ve had to deal with them both being pushed back due to delays so either way we’re waiting, only the way I suggested would have had us an Easter event while waiting for the log in stuff. As it stands we have to wait for both with nothing to consume our time. Clearly we don’t see eye to eye and that’s a-ok.

Thank you for your opinion it has been heard.

I would like to mention that the staff of maple royals are people, with familys and jobs.. and all that other life stuff.

Be very carful of the words you say. They can reach the staff and demotivate them or make them not feel like spending that hour of free time working on maple royals and instead do somthing else.

I would like to say to Kraven and all the talented staff, your doing a excellent job of running this daycare called Maple Royals!

Absolutely, which is why in two of my posts ITT I have taken the time to express extreme appreciation for Kevin's hard work and effort-I also recall making a comment in the shoutbox just a few days ago thanking Tim for the work he puts in on ban appeals. I try my best to give credit where it is due while still expressing any concerns/differing viewpoints. There is no malicious intent and I hope there are no hard feelings that come from my expression - it's just my perspective on the approach taken and nothing more.

Also, from what I read in the shout box prior (I could be wrong, and I sincerely apologize if so), Kevin is paid for his time/work (which I think is beyond great) so it is not necessarily his free time being thrown away without any form of compensation. Just putting that out there. Obviously for other staff members your statement regarding free time does apply though.

Likewise, except I don't think that children are allowed to play on this server - the passive aggressive comment about daycare isn't helpful or needed, that's the type of stuff that escalates a civil discussion/disagreement into flaming/personal attacks.

Nobody forgot that the staff are people. You think they can't take criticisms without pouting and putting off work? Come on.
Everyone should speak their mind here because we all have ideas for the server that have the potential to improve it. Anyone who's too rude gets banned for "flaming", so there's no need to defend the staff's feelings.

I'd happily come back if there was some tweaks to HP and/ or washing. I was building my NL and had some int equips, but not a crazy amount and pretty much gave up on playing when I couldn't get a Zakum helm at level 50 because every group said I wouldn't have enough health. @_@

Bear in mind not everyone can just grab one at 50 some have to get it later its a fair trade off tbh but yea it's a valid point to miss out on content because of HP restrictions in general anyway

Sería bueno confirmar una fecha para lanzar el nuevo parche. También quiero comentar que el reinicio AP vende un NPC en FM. On other servers The AP reset sells a NPC in FM to 1 million every 1 AP reset,I think it would be the best option for all and eliminate the high prices of the AP Reset

Hi all, so here's some detailed updates as to what have been done so far, and what's left before the big update. Hopefully this post will answer all queries on "still waiting" "when is update progress for 11th may?", etc.

Throughout the past one month, Kevin has been working hard on revamping the Login, World and Channel Server. Benefits wise, I'll keep that aside since it'll be technical. Kevin will include an explanation in the update note.

Currently, Kevin's about 3/4 into the Channel and World server revamp. Once that's done, he will clean-up the source code (removing unused stuffs), and will continue on with the login server revamp which consists of stuffs such as channel population, deletion, etc.

While Kevin's working on the revamp, Andreas and the others are actively working on the Easter event (I know, really out of the season already), skill changes, quests, major ETC drop rate adjustments, improvement to skele spawns, and other major improvements to the game.

All in all, we've been keeping track of what have been done. That is, we have already created an update note and have been constantly updating it whenever something is implemented. Currently, the patch note stands at least 6 pages long. Yes, without a doubt, this will be one of the biggest patch (other than the 1st update, of course).

We know that it has been a month or so since the last update, but we hope that players will support us by giving us more time. And hopefully after update 54 is out, the rest will be a smooth journey since CWKPQ is pretty much done, just requires a little bit more work and testing, and update 55 will be on its way pretty soon after update 54. And I don't think this has been mentioned, but we will also be bringing back GMS-like events (we should be introducing Fitness Test and Coconut Harvest first, and the rest will follow in other updates), as well as some custom GM events so we can host more JQs at different maps, and we are also hoping to bring back RR if time permits.
