I understand what you were referring to, and I did out the math on that route after you suggested it. I actually had to revise my original statement that 2 30s without white scrolls was the "best" option because white scrolling the 2nd 30 is actually only slightly more costly and is MUCH more bow efficient. The third slot and beyond however drops the efficiency (both for cost and clean weapons used) at an exponential rate. If I had thought you were referring to straight white scroll 10%, the answer would have been that that is only cost-efficient if perfect clean knuckles cost more than 2b (they dont), but that it is always the most knuckle-efficient.
Also, what do you do if your end game weapon is very rare like perfect sky skis for a DK or to a lesser extent a perfect concerto for a corsair. Do you really use 30s to start it out if it takes weeks or even years (like the 1 perfect sky ski lol) before you can find another one?
The difference in time from collecting more godly King Cents and 30%s scrolls outweigh the cost difference when adding in White Scrolls. King Cents might not be expensive, but in terms of looking for one in the Free Market, Smegas to everyone and even farming them yourselves is not efficient at all if your goal is a godly King Cent. It's not hard to find perfect weapons. If Jr. Newties/Nest Golems were actually good XP, they would be pretty common. If Arch Mages can One Shot them, you should be getting 2 Concertos an hours. If you're really up for it, you can even double your chances of getting a godly weapon by making a Dragon Revolver. This concept applies to many end game weapons.
You're misunderstanding me. If you attempt to pass a 30 without a white scroll on the first slot, and then 30% with white scrolls two more slots, you actually use MORE (11 vs 12) KNUCKLES (because of the boom chance) AND SPEND MORE ON WHITES than if you were to 30%s two slots without whites, and 10% with white from there. If you attempted to 20 without white the 1st slot, and then 30 with white the second, third, and 4th slot you use DOUBLE the knuckles you would require if you went with 30s & no whites on two slots, and 10% white the rest of the way. That's what I meant when I said it was never the most knuckle efficient.
Still a bit confused, but I can see where you're going. We're more or less on the same page when it comes to this issue.
We're on the same page except that you keep saying you would white scroll w/30 to +3 or +4, when it is in almost all parameters/cases more efficient to just get +2 and then switch to 10s, because of the boom chance. Otherwise everything we're saying lines up. I realize I'm the minority when I say that math like this is often what I think about when I'm waiting for my girlfriend to get her makeup on, or when I'm daydreaming in class... so I'm just going to bow out of the conversation here and hope that I saved someone some money or some headaches in making their own godly weapon =)
The notion of White Scrolling at +2 is new for me because everyone usually goes in 3-4 before attempting to White Scrolls. Now that I've seen the math and logic behind when it comes to godly clean weapons only, I'd probably adopt this method for future scrolling.
To be completely honest, until you mentioned it I hadn't even considered the possibility, for exactly the same reason. I believe it's only the case when the cost of your clean weapons is around half the cost of a white scroll, but in that case, it's statistically the best option, though it does leave the least room to get "lucky" and come out with a much cheaper than expected perfect weapon.
This applies to a lot of weapons like Concertos, King Cents, Nisrocks, Red Cravens, Dragon Claymores, Elemental Wands, etc. Beyond that, Stormcaster Gloves and high end Dragon weapons are in a realm on their own.
SCGs are iffy, because of the number of slots and the fact they're pretty common, even relative to the (perfect + godly) weapons you listed above. For dragon weapons and things like sky skiis in which the godly supply is SO limited, you would probably be forced to white/10 the whole way. Even though it still wouldn't be the most cost-efficient, at that point being clean-item efficient would most certainly take precedence.
All I can say to those people is (wasn't sure whether this image, or a "stay thirsty my friends" was better. Went with my first thought.)
I doubt a single DK would do that if they were handed a perfect 104 clean sky ski, which has only appeared once in the history of the server to my knowledge.
There's currently only one person with 21 atk BWG yet there are a few with 20 atk SCG for the reasons mentioned above. The amount of perfectly scrolled weapons certainly needs more than one hand to be counted on though.
