Hey guys, I dont play this game much anymore, but just a heads up, unless things have changed the last time i streamed royals i got a 24hr ban on twitch because Nexon reported me on the fact that its not Maplestory i assume. Just wanted to give this heads up to those who might stream since there is an incentive from the admin group in here. If things have changed on twitch, than disregard this, but id hate to see anyone else banned
IIRC on the description of the ban i believe seeing that Nexon had reported me for copyright material, but i cant remember 100%. In my gut, i do truly believe this is what it was but i cant prove it to you as i dont have any screenshot or anything edit : i looked through my email, here it is edit2 : if you look at the email provided now, perhaps this isnt the real Nexon, but at the time all i read was Nexon's name so that's why i always said it was nexon.
Contents that private server streamers are producing would be going against Twitch’s T&C. As much as its very enjoyable for us,the viewers. Twitch’s T&C does includes : Any unauthorized content you share on Twitch may be subject to a takedown by the rights holder(s) to remove the infringing content from Twitch, and is a violation of our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Multiple violations of our policies may lead to a permanent suspension of your account. Examples of content you cannot share on Twitch without permission from the copyright owners or other authorization include: Sharing other Twitch creators' content Playing pirated games or on unauthorized private servers Sharing content from other sites Showing movies, television shows, or sports matches Playing music you do not own or do not have the rights to share I doubt private server is still allowed or things have been updated. Correct me if I’m wrong, but what normally will happen. First strike - 24 hour ban Second strike - 7 day ban Third strike - permaban Just like royals , they don’t allow users to create another account and enjoy the available user content afterwards. Mentioned in the image @XTC attached above. ‘Any new accounts you create will also be suspended or terminated.’
Twitch's Terms and conditions still apply of course, and streaming our server is not without risk, as it does go against their rules. And it's not Twitch that enforces the copyright strikes, but Nexon themselves as shown in the copyright infringement notice from 2019 posted above by XTC, therefore it requires somebody from Nexon's copyright team to find the stream and write up a copyright infringement report for it themselves. This seems to happen in waves and it can be many months between them. If anyone does end up getting a copyright strike for streaming the server since the implementation of the featured streams on the homepage, then do please let us know about it. However, it could be many weeks or months before they decide to even check Twitch and issue a wave of copyright infringement notices. One small tip that might help avoid detection might be to not use square brackets e.g. "[MapleRoyals]" at the beginning of the stream title, as that does definitely stick out and might be something they look for in particular. To show up on our homepage you just need to have the word "MapleRoyals" anywhere in the stream title.
this is some thing that popped into my mind as soon as you announced the support in twitch streamers, first of all its a great idea that benefits both sides and in the long term can create even bigger and stronger community. way way back before i started royals i was watching maplestory on twitch just as a hobby to catch up on things i forgot by simply watching people play pbb maple, i can tell you now that 2 of the streamers i watched back then (about 2 years ago) are still streaming pbb maplestory sometimes, i am not sure and never asked how but i always wondered how. both of them stream under "retro" instead of maplestory so maybe that is the trick that helped them evade nexon's eyes for so long, i am just sharing my experience and speculating ofcourse and have no idea how their system really works, hope the server and the players will enjoy and benefit from that feature because twitch and streaming in general is a great way to bond the community, ill be looking to stream myself too soon.
Petition to make the keyword "Mroyals" or "MS royals" into another way you find streamers, that way they won't have the trigger word "maplestory" and "mapleroyals" on their content, increasing the risk of a ban
