1st post here so please be gentle! I played Maplestory probably 15 years ago with my wife & kids and recently, whilst reminiscing about the old days (that's what us old folk do), it came up again and we've ended up here although without the kids this time! So far absolutely loving it although I have a question about cash shop and pets... It used to be that when you purchased a pet it would pick up everything to the left of you - if you wanted it to pick up to the right as well that was another cash shop item. Likewise, from what I remember, picking up mesos was also an additional cash shop item. I've tried to vote to get the free nx but don't really understand it and as I use a secure browser I'm not sure it would work anyway. So here are my questions: How do I get a pet if I cannot buy NX or get them through voting? Do I still need to get the additional abilities (pick up both sides, pick up mesos, auto-pot, etc.)? Do the above still need to be re-purchased every 30 days or whatever it was? Thanks in advance
"How do I get a pet if I cannot buy NX or get them through voting?" There's still ways to gain nx from killing bosses (there are low level area bosses as well) or events. Sometimes votes don't go through because of some issue on gtop, better to wait a bit and if the vote didn't go through, try again on the same account. You don't need to re-purchase them, nx in this server doesn't expire except shops, stones that keep you from gaining xp, and some event items.

Thanks guys, I'll check out the voting for NX but it will probably be easier to just purchase it as I'm not very technical - even my granddaughter tells me that and she is only 8 years old!
Looks like I need a few items as well as a pet, I had forgotten about wing boots and the item pouch etc.! What is the RP/NX rate or can I buy everything with RP?
RP items are untradeable, and you can't trade rp/nx items, consider reading the rules about Real World Trade, since there are strict rules about it. You can buy only pets with rp, other pet related stuff are nx only (you can buy pets with nx aswell).
Thanks, I'm not looking to trade anything - just to get kitted out with a fully functioning pet, that's why I asked if I could buy everything with RP as that may be the only option for me but I wasn't sure if there was an official way of exchanging RP for NX in the shop - 10RP=1000NX kind of thing. Apologies if it sounded like I wanted to do real world trading, that is most definitely not the case!
Good idea, I'll try that Edit: Tried it in opera but it had problems with tracking server or something so I tried it in Edge and it seemed to work OK - fingers crossed!
