Server Wipe?

Real men doesn't care if theres a wipe, we can do it all over again, You just can't run the same version of maple for years, nexon always updated so it was natural but keeping it like this forever is like watching people leave, Okay alot of people have spent alot of time on here, but spending more time doing literally nothing is whats really waste of time, right!?

 

if there is some kind of way to check how many players that are afk, I would love to see that number, it's more than 20% of the population.

You can't fix the fact that the playerbase for Royals is aging and nobody is going to be searching for the very crappy MMO that is maplestory for any reason other than nostalgia..
It'll only get worse and worse as the demographic gets older and older and you have to accept it, a wipe will not fix royals population problem

And more than 60% of people oppose the server wipe and only 20% supported according of your thread.

Then what's the point of playing mmrpg game if your progress gets wiped out. Mind as well play MOBA game, league of legends or Dota. Your nexon analogy doesn't make any sense. Nexon updated with new content. They didn't wipe the server.

 

A wipe definitely wouldn't kill a server of this size. however, it's impossible to figure out how it would affect the population. Even with a poll, some might say they're quitting and end up staying because of friends. Others could vow to stay, then realize the commitment to grind all over is too much. I personally think it's too early to wipe and would prefer having another world added. I do understand @nilsrob1 point. All good things come to an end eventually.

Yeah a hypothetical wipe. Lets not forget most players don't use the forums and the majority of them that do are veteran players. Also I gave an opinion no reason to get your panties in a bunch.

isnt that the point of a private server? running the same version for years because thats the version we enjoy

 

if a wipe happened and somebody took my IGN i'd feel robbed of 2 years of brand building and i'd be very frustrated. infact, so frustrated, my PERFECT, UNDEFEATED ban record might even change.

Absolutely not, hell no actually. I don't see Global doing wipes every Thursday.

 

I prefer adding more interesting contents than a wipe
- daily GM buff and daily small events/games (Russian Roulette if you guys remember that legend server) and can reward some rare NXs
- renewal every year's big events or event items for example Halloween or Christmas, because here we only gain last year's item it's not encourage at all and this is kind of boring, event items may be just for collection, don't need to be an really useful equip
- add more items to cash shop? and please consider bring back chair gachapon?
- some more new maps and nerf leeching maps (ulu, gs..) to encourage players to PQs, do you remember old Maple, when only thing and interesting thing you did is going PQs
- revamp and add new PQs as well, give some cool awards to GPQ for example
- return gift packs for players who haven't logged for a period of time

brief, more new contents, nerf mules!

 

the thing is we all are here for nostalgic reason, so I wanna play maple not a whole another game, with custom content. It's already a big turn off seeing all the good items out there, and there is more people above level 150 than level 50..even some people have more than 1 MIL NX, cause they dont need anything as in cash shop items or mesos.

You generally only need to wipe a server in extreme situations, most often servers wipe when they get to a point where there are only like 20-30 people online and wiping is pretty much the only way to revive the server. Royals is very far from getting to numbers like that

I've been inactive for quite a while.. And everytime I think on coming back I ask myself "Why would I come back if i accomplished everything I wanted"
I miss this server.. a lot, however its been up for a long time.. progression and the sensation of accomplisment isnt the same as it could be in the past. most active players have reached lv 200 a couple of times also perf gear. the "endgame" content is more like a routine for active players and a way to make money for their new characters..
But that is what happens when u play on legacy servers, it applies for every game, maple, wow, you name it. thats why nexon hasnt wipped, because there is always new content coming up.
I support the idea of a wipe.. HOWEVER I KNOW MANY PPL HAS INVESTED A LOT OF TIME ON WHAT THEY HAVE ACCOMPLISHED and a wipe would be unfair for them.
A NEW WORLD could split the population, but, tbh most of the players here play with their friends, guildies, etc so even if the population split.. most players would log to do their dailies. actually im pretty sure many people log only to do these and then play other games or w/e coz theres no motivation to do anything else.

I miss this game, and I wish theres a way to make progression a thing again
