Please no boats. This will push me over the edge and, I will move on to making my islander the primary focus of my life
Additionally there will be time-limited Fast Travel Tickets available from both Albert and in the Cash Shop that will give the ability to skip waiting for and travelling via ships, planes and trains. Unlimited uses until the ticket expires.
It's not that exactly, it's more of a push or incentive to stop and do something fun or different, or in this case socialize and goof around with strangers that you otherwise wouldn't have bothered with if you were busied with whatever reason you were travelling for to begin with. Sure you can say to do that anywhere else, but nowhere else does it feel as natural; you don't have the excuse not to do it, and neither does anyone else sharing the boat. I personally feel like I've presented a fairly good reason, possibly among others you just don't care for. I understand why it seems dumb to make them mandatory. "Why make us have to deal with boat rides for the sake of nostalgia? If you don't like the instant travel, don't use it!". I covered a little of why willingly not using something is not the same as it not being an option. Consider a more extreme example; the implementation of an NPC that gives you a free Level Up every time you talk to it, no limits. This is not a bad thing, saves us time from long hours of grinding. If you don't like the idea of that being a thing, don't use it. However you'll have to deal with the fact that it fundamentally changes how things work on the server, and that the value of leveling up manually has become pointless and unrewarding when you could have just used the NPC. But you can't argue to take it away from the players, that's selfish. This sounds partially more ridiculous because we did not start with this being a thing. If we had, some people might have clung to it. My other point would be for nostalgia, for a server that is intended to appeal to that very thing. If that wasn't the server's whole intended theme, I would agree with "Nostalgia for nostalgia's sake isn't a good argument, take off your rose tinted glasses". But I can't say that contributing to the vision this server entailed is not something that should be considered. Boat rides were mandatory in GMS / EMS, they were a social push when travelling to other lands in the game. Even if we didn't like them, they contributed to the atmosphere of the game we missed and came back to play here. It doesn't seem 100% fair that because the nostalgia high wore out for us and we're still around, that we should get to dictate the direction the server goes. I don't feel that further appealing to the audience this server is geared toward is a bad thing. Edit: I am not here to say you have no points, there is a fair argument that boat rides in this server should not be mandatory. I just want to be clear that there is at least a single fair argument contrary to it.
Oh man so much wrong with your comment it's difficult to know where to start... Uhhh, it feels sooo much more unnatural on the boats, a place you're forced into against your will and a vast majority of people don't want to be. There are plenty of excuses to not socialize there as well; because it's a pointless waste of time, because you don't want to socialize at that time, because it sucks that you're being forced to waste your time, because you need to take a piss, and probably countless other reasons. I specifically said boat rides shouldn't be mandatory, not that there shouldn't be an option. Give the 30% of people who want boat rides an option to take it. This example is not even remotely similar and I hope you realize that. It's not an extreme example, it's a completely different example. You gain nothing by riding a boat. You gain so much by leveling up. I never missed boat rides, I hated them after the first handful of times I rode them in GMS. They were never nostalgic to me and many others. They were always a burden. Their contribution was an overall negative one. Also, the anvil has been suggested here and here and they said they wouldn't implement it.
I was referring to the option of skipping boat rides. I'm not sure what else to comment on, the rest is just your personal opinion or experiences, and missing the points of the few things you quoted. Listen, I am all for your preferences of what you do not like, I will respect that. But acting as if there are no valid arguments contrary to that preference is just silly.
There's no good argument to make them absolutely mandetory, not for implementing them but allowing them to be skippable in some way.
One of the best CS items ever created imo. Basically you keep the stats of any item but change the skin of it, as long as you have both items. Ex: A long time ago back in GMS, I changed my shield to look like a DKhanjar (Shield too) while maintaining its stats. This could make currently useless items worth something since they look good and probably increase RP donations without adding a bunch of new NX items, since the options with this NX item are pretty much limitless. Only problem with this is that, although it says on the item what it was originally (Ex: http://i.imgur.com/1rYDM.jpg [Shark Tooth Skipper Gloves with the skin of Stormcaster Gloves]), people who don't read will buy items by mistake and claim to be "scammed",causing a bunch of problems that GMs will have to deal with.
I never specifically argued to force everyone to ride them. Though I suppose I should have been more clear that simply creating less incentive to so easily skip them also satisfies the ideas I was presenting. Teleport rocks being a thing isn't contrary to the classic atmosphere we were used to, they existed. Though not as common and accessible, ridding of them entirely would go against my own argument. NX passes are OK, too. It's a step somewhere as long as they aren't as cost effective as simply paying 25k. Though if "Temporary" means they are only available for a limited amount of time, I'm fine with the price being anything, really; that's honestly just a great way to transition between the change.
glad to hear you guys gonna do (kinda) same thing i suggested few weeks ago about travel.. are you guys for real? WTF is this shit? how on earth is this http://i.imgur.com/1rYDM.jpg an old school maplestory? i vote HELL NO! keep "Anvil system" out of this game nothing about it is nostalgic.. what next people will ask for extra jobs like XENON?
You’re making no sense LOL. Since when is adding a Cash Shop item the same as adding a new class? If you want nothing new, might as well remove most of Cash Shop items and hairstyles/faces that are currently available (And that you probably use yourself.)
have you fucking seen that shit? what you talking about this no longer classic Maple items : http://i.imgur.com/1rYDM.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/2s6nf2e.png https://i.ytimg.com/vi/bt27BOmmkKI/hqdefault.jpg http://oi46.tinypic.com/2q1w4gp.jpg you really think i'm overreacting to this? by the look of it they gonna need to remake/update the GUI and HUD as well to fit the new descriptions of items.. what will be next, transfer hammer ? https://i.imgur.com/uMrwIQi.png oh hell NO, what's the point in most popular old school maple server when you keep ask for "something new" every day bit by bit make the old school mix with new sh*t that killed the old one we all loved.. and and little by little take away from the feel of old maple. my own opinion on this topic i'm against this. still make no sense? it doesn't matter, i'm done talk about it.. ♥
I think you took things out of proportion, and in fact, off topic. Anvil has nothing to do with those images you shown. Anvil is basically a CS item that allows you to apply the look of another item, to an item of your wish.
Like fm button? SoonTM or NeverTM? Plz. No more nx sink. We got too much of those already. We need a good permanent mesos sink.
True. UI will have to be modified which makes it a lot harder to implement. And I had no idea this transfer hammer existed. Although it does sound fun, I'd be against it since it affects the stats of an item. Anvil only affects the the aesthetics. Its basically like adding 1000000 (However many items exist in Maple) skins to Cash Shop, but instead of making it such a huge task, you'd simply be adding one item.
Not a FM button but a social lounge area that we are working on. See https://royals.ms/forum/threads/proposition-for-a-new-social-map-warp-button.106871/ There would be the option of buying it for Mesos or NX, and no doubt most would go for Mesos, so it would be a Meso sink?
