New areas to explore are a constant source of debate among staff; we understand that the nostalgia of an older version before all these areas was released has its appeal as well as acknowledging the fact that there's a reason new areas get added; the game does get slightly stale without new content from time to time. What I want to make clear is that new areas are not currently our focus; our main goal at the moment hasn't changed over the last couple of months, and that's server optimization and stability. Kaede Castle, Shanghai and other similar areas that were around pre-BB in other versions are ones we have in the back of our minds, but don't hold your breath. EDIT: For the curious, this is an accurate timeline of versions for GMS. http://www.southperry.net/timeline.php
I have said this before but what is Nostalgic is different for everybody. For a MSEA user different maps will be Nostalgic versus a GMS user. And let's not get started with KMS, JMS or TaiwanMS. Each server had different maps and saying X map is not nostalgic because it wasnt on the GMS server is missing the point. That being said new maps shouldn't be added all the time but should be sprinkled from time to time. In order to simulate the experience of a new map, just like in the old days.
Would like to bump this thread as I really miss Shanghai and Thailand tbh. I know this is not a MSEA based private server and the maps doesnt exist in GMS, but yeah, its a few of the great contents especially for us old days MSEA players, i find a few players asking about how to get there and i think it might be a great idea to attract player to the game, not to mention the awesome bgm. p.s. Shanghai was like a second HHG1 for us. This might not be a priority but i hope it gets some attention afterall Thanks
. I see some people saying this didn't come into the game until after Aran. Well my ss on page one was also taken before NA maple had 4th job.
As far as I remember, I am quite sure that shanghai and Thailand came before Aran in MSEA. I think there is no point for me to repeat how nostalgic these areas are for some of us, but Ninja castle would introduce more bosses such as he samurai and the toad and the jump quest in ninja castle, would also encourage players to explore new places. Besides, I don't remember shanghai and Thailand being a popular training spot in MSEA as players would be training in ghost ships but if the arguement is on many unutilized maps, perhaps tweaks can be done to address this. Further, in my opinion, being a 'nostalgic server', the focus shouldn't be on adding end game contents, but adding various possible nostalgic contents to the server. Besides, if the servers's population is growing wider, I don't see why the server shouldn't be doing the same.
