Thought i'd revive this thread in an effort to get some bw/axe diversity!! I hope these buffs are still on the table as I believe they would be recieved really well by the community. (and hey I've always wanted to be able to use a 2h bw without feeling like a wet noodle)
Give it time man, lets just wait for them to fix all the important stuff first, hopefully later on we can have the weapon diversity which seriously lacked in the old maple.
I definitely would love to see some changes to the 2 handed blunt weapon damage, I choose to use them because I enjoy the look of them. Now that the new source is out, is this more of a possibility Karven?
I would actually love to see something be changed to the axe and bw formula, especially for 2h. Though obviously, the other fixes to the server should be done first. I'd like to see something like 110% swing 90% stab for 1handed, and 120% swing 80% stab for 2handed. I feel like seeing as 2h is slow it should have the highest damage at the least and I think 1h all would need is a buff to stabs to make it more stable. I really hope that they consider changing something in the future after most of the server is up and running.
The whole point is the greater range and more potential for damage. Cheaper scrolls too. IMO, nothing should be changed. If you make changes, you basically screw over all the sword users who spent the time and money to get what they had. Not to mention, would you be changing the way spears/polearms work? Why not?
Swords already do almost everything better than swords, even if you take into account of the higher damage of swings for axes/bw, swords are faster, more stable and dont suffer from the stab%. And saying it would screw over sword users is nonsense, cause again, they still would have alot of perks to them. As for the changes to spears and polearms I'm not actually too familiar with how Dark Knights work but don't they have skills dedicated to swings and stabs? They both have their purpose, where as bw/axes don't really have that cause again, swords do all those things better already, much better. Even BWs best 1h weapon, Crushed Skull, still suffers from the current formula pretty bad.
I'm just not a fan of changing such a key aspect of the warrior classes. I get the frustration, but again, axe/bw are significantly cheaper and offer a greater potential for damage, that's the pay off, and it always has been.
Buddy, I think many people including myself are willing to toss a little extra money for bws if that meant they got a bit of a buff to them, and again, bws/axes actually have less damage potential with how they are now, especially the 2handers.
I don't have the data on hand, but last time someone crunched the numbers, 1h sword vs 1h BW, BW was better by a small margin. That may not be the case for 2h at all, as there is no 2h crushed skull. You misunderstand my point though, I'm not against buffing BW, hell, you could add 10 wepatt to every BW in the game, I'd be chill for that. I'm against changing the swing/stab/damage less for stab BW, etc part.
This is the relative damage per second for Paladins using blast, slash blast, or power strike. (40% stab, 60% swing). Ignore the axes, since they can't be used by paladins. All weapons are assumed to be scrolled perfectly, and one handed weapons are assumed to be paired with a perfectly scrolled maple shield. 'Att from other sources' means attack that is not from your weapon or shield. So things like gloves, cape, pendant, buffs etc. Without apples, most people probably won't get above 75 att from other sources. This means that if you have SI, a perfect Crushed skull + perfect shield is better than any sword. If you don't have SI however, sword are superior. It's clear why many people choose for stonetooth. It's a nice middle-ground between having SI and not having SI. Two handed blunt weapons are vastly inferior to any other weapon choice, mainly due to their slowness and non-impressive weapon attack. If you want to use a 2h bw though, the morningstar is your best choice due to it being faster than any higher-level 2h bw. Now are blunt weapons underpowered? The two-handed ones are, and most one-handed ones aren't impressive either, but the crushed skull is certainly viable, and in some situations even the best weapon for paladins.
