I do apologize if I may seem out of line, I won't be replying further after, but this:

Now I personally do not know how many of these perfect weapons were handed out in this incident but I'd imagine they must have come from somewhere, is it implied that these were legit and perhaps bought off from players and just handed out like candy?

Also another observation; it always seems that the server is forced to be on the defensive side where only once an attack takes place is when the staff can react and act accordingly, surely by now there must be some sort of defensive system to prevent such an attack from happening again? Or is this another one of those trial by fire incidences where improvements can only be made after damage has been done? What then lies ahead for the next "attack"? Will the staff be more ready? I can only imagine the toil and man-hours spent manually looking through player transactions. Also, drop trading? Are those accounted for?

You're looking like a clown now. They were right and now we're at over 1000 people online nonstop lol.

 

They have access to a database that is able to keep track of all these details. I'm not sure if GM's have access to it (last I checked there was discussion of making a view-only, or suggested). As he explained, he found spikes of creation of these perfect weapons, it's safe to assume they are tracked with item ID's or something of that nature. From my understanding they can find drop trades but it's a little harder because things looted from the ground has a vastly larger volume than any other interaction of gaining an item. However, if he's able to track the generation of the item, he probably can track which character is holding it and ultimately how they got it.

Even if he can't and there's a shadower gang out there with perfect Kanzirs, hell let's just say that every shadower has a perfect kanzir now. It's absolutely worthless as an item because the moment they try to capitalize on it, whether selling or showing off, they immediately are under scrutiny of how they got it. Which I'm sure you read enough ban appeals to know how that works lol. The worse case is we just have some shadowers that do more damage, but are they going to be soloing big ticket bosses? Hell no lol

I'm not sure what this asinine take is; in any field in IT, business, or anything with a semblance of value is on the defensive. Attackers get creative, you adapt so that they don't happen again. Maplestory isn't exactly made by the best of the best, nor is it managed by people who treat it any less than a hobby(Big assumption but you can't exactly start monetizing it and hiring workers, just put a bigger target on the servers back).

Let dupers give everyone perf weapons and everyone can boss finish quicker and focus on others things in life too (like laundry and friendships, and work)

why take 30mins to clear a boss when everyone can clear it in 10mins and spend the 20mins earning money, going out for exercise, learning a new hobby?

 

Just make it so that there's a little text box where you can enter the attack value you'd like for your weapon!

Or even better, just make it so that your character levels just from you looking at it, and bosses die the moment you enter their map.

 

can clear quests and explore the mapleworld Having better gears wouldnt help you finish clearing all the quests in 3 days, would it?

Also, isnt time one of the most precious resource anyone has? the higher weapon atts just saves time for daily grinders.

also, not all gears are tradeable. dont you still have to grind for helm (zak, auf, and scar/tar), or belt (VL), or eye accessory (ninja toad, googles)?

 

help me understand, i notice that creating attachment to items and character is a big thing to you (correct me if i'm wrong). if yes, then why does creating attachment to items and character matters so much to you?

For me, i play to enjoy the story content and the thrill of picking up rng loot. If my way/enjoyment of playing maple differs from yours, you seem to conclude that its disrespectful before asking me why i even think a certain way. I think that is true disrespect in a conversation.

I hope that just because my way/enjoyment (and other players way/enjoyment) of playing maple differs from yours, you would ask more to find out first before speaking more.

I certainly hope that you do not think your way (even if its the best) must be followed by every other player; that in itself is another form of disrespecting other people's way/enjoyment of the same game
