When bossing, the buffs kinda get overwhelming. It would be much easier to see if there were 2 lines of buffs for self buff and party buff, what are your thoughts on that?
I like it, or give self buffs and party buffs different icon edges/colors to differentiate them, and keep self buffs slid always on the right and party buffs on the left of the icon line, and would keep it in one line still example: meso guard, pickpocket (your self buffs) are on the right of your buff line and share a red border haste, bless, and HS are in a blue border to the left of the red bordered self buffs
The other day i talked to some pretty smart people that do fun things to maple servers outside of Royals. I found out that "client restrictions" is a load of fat horseshit. I imagine the conversation goes... GM: "Hey, can we do that? Sounds like a great idea." Dev/Admin: *realizes that will take effort to do* "Uhhhhh nope. Client restriction, cant do that." GM: "awe, sad. oh well." *continues to work for hours doing gm shit*
Have you ever tried editing the original MS client? It's quite saddening for you to use something you heard from 'pretty smart people' to attack the Royals Devs despite they often spent lots of time to add various new content such as new maps And crashes can occur when certain things don't match with the current client, such as the mass disconnections occur when players used to have the Giant Ducky Chair back in 2020 It isn't a simple thing of just simply "okay done, we put it in, no checks or testing needed"
Man, if client restriction is a total horseshit, then why the hell do all the classic server still chooses not to lift that "probably arbitrary and specifically chosen number" of 2 billion plus mesos cap and chose to go with the Billion coins instead? Or, why don't servers increase the size of the item inventory slots in the UI? Oh wait, that's right! It's the client restrictions. Like Dave have pointed, it's not as easy as "put it in, call it a day", you have to keep in mind that is it possible to implement in our source/client version? Will it introduce new bugs that possibly can break the game, and tons of other issues that you need to keep in mind, other than if the developer are willing to put time and effort in it. Tinkering with sources and client is not an easy task. To contribute to this feedback a little, it is a good idea and I would love to see it implemented if it was possible. But, if it was possible, why don't other private server done it already or why don't Nexon themselves implement this on their current Maplestory?
this would be nice i think is possible to have 2 lines or even more but separating self vs party buff might be tricky,to much work or client limited (when the buffs reach maximum length from right to left the next one show under the existing in royals is imposible to reach that many buffs so who knows if this can work but servers that had rebirth system had it possible)
You're right, client restrictions aren't total horseshit, but many of them can be overcome, and most of them are honestly very easy. Let's take your example, 2 billion meso cap: So the reason the cap is specifically 2147483647 is because it's the maximum value for a 32 bit integer, so it's not random or 'specifically' chosen, it's just the limit for this type. So we need to change the type of it in client, a way to do that is store a new variable with the new type in the memory, and then point to that variable whenever meso is involved. Obviously this is explained way more easier than it's done, but it can be done: The reason other servers don't just add features like this is because most don't know how to. It takes a lot of knowledge about how the client is built up to confidently add features like this. And you're right, it's not a feature you can just slap on and call it a day; it requires a lot of thorough testing and might require fixes other places, for example in that video above, the meso is so long it goes outside the area for mesos in the shop. And on-topic: It's a very cool and interesting feature, and it is possible, but it was very tricky to pull off. Here's how it would look: I'd love to see this implemented on Royals.
Sorry, I said total horseshit. Client restrictions exist and it depends on a lot of things. But this is a great reply and example of how things MAY BE possible, but just not able to figure it out. I am guilty of not having the skill to pull off such a badass WZ edit as Yeepog referenced, and I also never tried. At least we know it might be possible, just takes action to see if it is. Thanks @yeepog
I would definitely love to see this implemented, it'll be a great QoL especially for classes with a ton of self buffs, like Dark Knight : This is the POV of a Drk in any given boss run, the line of buffs covers over half my screen : (I'm running the big client here, not sure if it takes up more space in the small one) It gets more annoying when some of your buffs get covered by the timer on the boss run, sometimes making it hard to see the duration left on a certain buff, because of the shade from timer..
