I just tried it today, and I can confirm that Royals with the new patch does work when running on a native Windows XP machine.

Yeah, the game was really glitchy/unstable when I tried to play on Windows 7 through vmware, although I can't confirm how much of it was my computer or the server having issues.

This is outdated information, having the latest files solves the whole white screen issue in VMware.
Please locate the installation folder for your VMware and then find the .vmx file.
After that right click the file and click "edit with" just open it with notepad.

Of course the VMware should be turned off completely before you do any edits.

When you have done that go to the bottom and add these 2 values
    • svga.AutoDetect = "FALSE"
    • svga.vramSize = "67108864"

Make sure these don't already exist if they do you can simply edit that value, for me I did not have them so I added them to the bottom

I am using Notepad++ so will likely look a bit different for you, this worked for me in the 2 different windows XP professional VMware players I tried with.
I am using VMware Player 12 if that makes any difference though I doubt it.

Never tried it on bossing myself all I know is that it works to launch the game :D

I brought a friend to HT not too long ago to test if Andreas' solution worked. He set up VMware according to Tim's guide here (https://royals.ms/forum/threads/how...graphical-glitches-closing-your-client.16643/) and then edited VMware using Andreas' coding described in the post above. He was unable to boss following the patch, but after our run, I believe that everyone should be able to boss without any problems by following those two guides.

    Happy Mapling! <3

You do have it right there. Of course, the name of the file will be different depending on what you have named your virtual machine...

The name can be different but that file is the one that starts your vmware and file size should be the same, so if you find which one starts your vmware edit that one, remember to keep backups of all important data if you are unsure.

Can you explain more about the disconnect when you select your char? Does your character walk in place and you get an unable to connect to server message? Or does it quit the game with an error message or no error message? Are you able to log in to the character but get disconnected soon after?...

That is lot more helpful. This error code just means you don't have the latest files. Update your files by installing the latest setup or individual files from the downloads page: https://royals.ms/?page=download

Did you make sure that those values don't exist elsewhere?
Are you running the game in windows 98 compatibility?

You don't get white screen problems in windows 7.

The name might be different for you and not end with .vmx but the size is very likely 3 kb and have the same icon to the left of it, if you are unsure double click it if that one starts your VMware that's the correct file, remember to turn it off before doing any changes.
