What if they add an alternative Quest that takes at least 1 hour to complete? I've steen plenty of people saying they finish the jq within 20 minutes. They wouldn't do that Quest instead of the jq.
The last time we discussed this in staff, our plans are to make the alternative to ZJQ long and inconvenient, thereby eliminating anyone from doing the quest except those who truly can't do the ZJQ itself. They would also still be required to do the other parts of the Zakum Prequests, this would be an alternative to the JQ portion only. Our graphic designer and Andreas are developing and implementing this alternative into the game at present, so we will see what comes when it is ready for testing. I don't think we will have to worry about this being abused by "lazy" people, but rather only used by those who have no other option.
This is a video game. Not a court trial to determine whether someone receives disability pay or something crazy. You develop the game to meet everyones needs. I can do the JQ perfectly fine myself, but having to "testify" or "show proof" to a group or individual judge for the sake of overcoming a hurdle that isn't necessarily easy or hard is absurd. Whatever the devs implement to make the game accessible to those who have visual impairments imo is a necessity, and after they are implemented having a trial (character issues post) for the people who want to use it would make me just quit the game in general.
The point of the alternatives is to let people enjoy the game even with their inconvenience, not something that lazy people will abuse. If the average people said that they can complete the Quest in 20mins i dont see the point of people complaining if the alternative is an hour - a couple of days long. At least people dont have to put up with the freaking Red and Green crap of the map. If you notice, people are having problem with mostly the platforms and not the rope because of it's colour. Alternatively is to change the colour of the stuff.
The ropes and chains are love i can hit almost all rope/chain jumps on the 1st try. only 2 jumps that can mess up the run are in the ropes/chains.
Please enlighten me about how i can prove that i am partially colorblind? Do i need a doctors note or even one from the optician? Long story short, you wont get a note like that. What the Devs are intending is a LONGASS other way around the jq. If you can make the jq in like an hour the alternative (open to all) wont be intresting since that will take a hell of a lot more time and effort. (and it should! )
First of all, many people that care about their health still use the stairs. Second of all, who would want to get to work all sweaty and stinky just because the ladder is there? Although I felt like I wanted to share my opinion, I feel like we are drifting away from the subject. I'm glad the work is being done at the present, and wish the graphic designer and Andreas good luck.
I didn't want to sound mean about it. I was just worried that it could end becoming something easy to do, which would kill the regular way to do it. This is something that usually happens all the time.
The big point here is that the jq takes regular pple roughly 1 hour to complete. Give or take the skill they have with jumping. The alternative should be atleast a 5-10+ hours line to complete in my oppinion. That way anyone can choose to do the alternative, it just takes ALOT longer than the jq, so its not intresting for people who are semi decent jumpers. Have some faith in the devs and designers
Right from the start i believes that people who are proposing for an alternatives are flagging for it to be something Long/Hard/Troublesome. Even the "GMS-Alternatives" requires you to be lv80-100 to finish the quest.
* UPDATE * Adonis has left El Nath and can now be found in Watch Out For Icy Path I. Adonis is in charge of starting the completely new quest alternative to the Zakum Jump Quest. Any players that meet the requirements can try it out, but remember that it’s very very time consuming, and it's not advised to attempt it, there are no hidden rewards, and its only purpose is as an alternative to the Jump Quest for players who cannot do it. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/new-source-update-44-05-10-2017.104742/#post-575019 @John Thank you and the whole team somuch for taking this serious! I cant wait to start this prequest on all my characters!
Hmmmm I had a really hard time with the zak jump quest myself so I haven't even bothered to do them with my other characters. Even if this is a harder alternative, the ones who really suck at jump quests like me, can give it a try. We'll see how it works out.
The thanks belongs to @Andreas and @Joong who fully developed this custom quest from beginning to end.
I decided to take on this quest out of curiosity. I have already completed the prequest cycle once. Will I still be able to enter Zakum's Altar while this quest is active (I plan to do it piecemeal over the course of several days) or do I need to forfeit it completely to fight Zakum?
If you have done the normal Pre-Quests for Zakum once, you should be able to enter Zakum's Altar regardless, and this questline should not interfere with anything.
Im also doing the alternative on my Hero (check the spoiler tab in the main post) Im only on part 1/7 and already around 2.5 hours working on it. Thanks for confirming this. Thank you and @Andreas again! Its time consuming and boring just as it was on GMS and should be!
*Update* A friendly player named Nouveau whisped me about a iron hog map at henesys. Just hit the motherload of iron hogs here. Question answerd! Leaving the original post just becouse i can. @Joong @Andreas Guys im working on the quest but i got stuck at "The Crystal Flask" this part required 600 iron hogs metal hoofs. There is no map that spawns more than 2 or 3 at once atm at a decent spawn rate? Or am i just overlooking something here? http://bbb.hidden-street.net/search_finder/iron hog There is a iron boar map with nice spawns inside the hidden wild boar map. 2/3 wooden doors have a next map there potentially make the 3rd door a iron hogs map? Full copy of the iron boars map but with iron hogs? Sofar i really like the varyity of the quest and the time it takes.
It took me around 15 hours but i finished the Alternative ZJQ! To view a walktrough open Spoiler: >>>this<<< To start i assume you need to be lvl 50 to start. Go to Adonis at Watch out for Icy Path 1 (1 map right of elnath) Pay adonis 1 million mesos (this opens up a quest at the quest tab calles The long road) Now we need to see Chumji at Korean folk town Spoiler: Elnath to KFT From Adonis in El Nath you walk back to the tower 2 maps left of your current position. This refers to the mob called Blin(lvl 60). These are located to the far right of the KFT region in a map called: Top of black mountain. You need to collect 200 Blin's flame they only drop from the morphed blin (Blin's second form). Rough estimate 1 drop per 50 kills Blin's flame is a quest item and therefor untradeable After delivering the blin's flames to Chumji we need to go pay Chun Ji of Victoria Island a visit. Chun Ji is located on Kerning City Construction Site. This is 1 map left of Kerning City. Tells you a story about the ancient times and about dragon fire. Only 2 monsters currently have this, Red Drake in perion and the Behemoth deep down in the sanctuary (Jr.Balrog) After this rattle of dragon monsters Chun Ji sends us to the Rememberer in Sleepywood. After killing some Red Drakes a etc. ring will drop called the "Dragonfire Ring" Bring this ring to Chun Ji for him to remember how to grow the "Breath of Lava" To create the Breath of Lava you need a "Hardend Crystal Flask" a "Inert Mysterious Substance" and a Flaming Feather. Porter of Omega sector knows how to make the Hardend Crystal Flask. Carson of the Zenumist Society knows how to make the Inert Mysterious Substance. The Flaming Feather is dropped by Selkie Jr. at Mysterious Path 3 Spoiler: Flaming Feather To obtain a Flaming Feather you need to travel to Singapore (CBD) This is possible by talking to Irene. Located on the right side of Kerning City. Arriving at CBD you need to walk 3 maps to the right untill you hit Fire Extinguisher monsters. In this map you take a top right to enter Quay Boat Town. Again we walk 3 maps to the right to reach Mysterious Path 3. Spoiler: Omega sector From Orbis you take the boat to Ludibrium. Go 2 maps left to the EOS tower (LPQ tower) Jump all the way down (suggest to buy EOS rock scrolls) Porter is located in the Command Center next to Dr. Kim To create the Hardend Crystal Flask he sends you out to get: Spoiler: 1Moon Rock Dropped by MT-09 Forged by Pi 1 map left of Ludibrium with 1Bronze Plate, 1Steel Plate, 1Mithril Plate, 1Adamantium Plate, 1Silver Plate, 1Orihalcon Plate, 1Gold Plate and 10,000 mesos. Spoiler: 1 Star Rock Dropped by Chief Gray Forged by Pi 1 map left of Ludibrium with 1Garnet, 1Amethyst, 1Aquamarine, 1Emerald, 1Opal, 1Sapphire, 1Topaz, 1Diamond, 1Black Crystal and 15,000 mesos. 500 Plateon's helmets Spoiler: 200 Dragonglass Shards These new items drop from Ice Drakes, the droprate is very low. From ellinia you take the black cab to Ant Tunnel Park. Keep going deeper into the dungeon untill you hit the map Dungeon: Another Entrance. Take the top portal and keep going deeper untill the map Dungeon: Drake Area / Cold Cradle / Drakes Nest. All these 3 maps spawn Ise Drakes. Spoiler: 600 Iron Hog's metal hoofs At Henesys just right of the cab is a tree. Climb that to enter a hidden map. These maps hold the most Iron Hogs in the whole server. Spoiler: Magatia From Orbis you take the Ariant genie boat. From Ariant town you take the 3rd portal on the right to find the camel cab. Carson is located on the far left inside a building. To create the Inert Substance he sends you out to get: Spoiler: 200 Fire Bomb flame From Zipangua (shrine) walk all the way right to find Showa town. In showa is a bathhouse (Gachapon location). Inside on the right side of the mirrors is a hidden portal taking you to a map with all firebombs. 100 Mateon tentactes 200 Red essence Spoiler: 30 bottles of drake's blood From ellinia you take the black cab to Ant Tunnel Park. Keep going deeper into the dungeon untill you hit the map Dungeon: Drake Hunting Ground 500,000 mesos After collecting this huge ammount of items for Porter and Carson you need to head back to Chun Ji at Kerning City. He will give you a Poweless Breath of Lava. And the words: Go see Sea Witch Carta in Aqua. Spoiler: Aqua From ellinia you take the boat to orbis, from there the crane to Mu Lung. From Mu Lung you take the crane to Herb Town. The map left of Herb Town is the Dolphin taxi to Aqua. Sea Witch Carta is located in a hidden cave down Aqua road. To get to her you go 1 map left of Aqua town. Use the left bottom "hidden" portal to get to Deep Sea Gorge 1. Halfway down the map on the left side is a black cave entrance. Enter this to find Sea Witch Carta. Sea Witch Carta tells you that she can help power the Poweless Breath of Lava. She only requires a few crystals. 1 Dark Crystal 1 Power Crystal 1 Wisdom Crystal 1 Dex Crystal 1 Luk Crystal 1 million mesos These crystals can be forged by Vogen in Perion. After delivering these items to Carta she gives you The Breath of Lava. Congrats for finishing the Zakum Jump Quest without jumping! Time spend on the total quest 15 hours. Char used lvl 145 Hero @Joong @Andreas Thank you for not making it to easy and still keeping it fun! (it wouldnt hurt to make the Dragonglass Shards just a tad more userfriendly. Took me 4 hours on a 145 hero.) In my oppinion this alternative is doable at lvl 50 if you buy al the items and have people helping you on the untradeable drops. (still who the F would be insane enough to farm 600 iron hog hoofs for someone else) From lvl 60-70 the quest is solo doable but will take you ages.
