The shoutbox on the front page of the forums kinda sucks when you think about it: When you scroll up, it occasionally just warps you to the bottom of the chat, making backlog reading annoying as hell When a new message arrives, ut will warp you down as well, so gl reading past messages when someone's talking When you write a message, and press enter, it sometimes won't show up in the box, only after refreshing or waiting a minute you'll know that the message came through The writing box can't expand to more than one line, so if you write something long, you won't be able to read what you wrote at the start of the sentence without going back with the arrows. The log of chatbox is too short, its not that big a deal to store a bit more lines of text for the shoutbox (this forum holds far more lines and it seems like its doing just fine) All in all, i think this shoutbox requires some reworks. And because this is a forums coding issue, the webpage dev will be the one to deal with it, so no delay on actual game development for this change I know discord exists, but i see many still use the shoutbox, might as well make their life a little less miserable
I'm surprised no one else thought of bringing up these issues until you brought them up. But yes, I agree on all these points!
When the switch is made to Xenforo 2 the Shoutbox will be replaced. Which will hopefully happen SoonTM.
