As most of you know, one of the biggest fears in mapleroyals life is that of accidentally dropping your perfect weapon... Especially in places like FM channel 1. It sounds stupid, but it happens to the best of us by accident - for example due to your Mouse not working properly or just simply by misclicking.... Thankfully i never dropped such a valuable item myself, but i did once lost some fresh scrolled TMA earrings, which i possibly dropped in FM channel 1 by accident due to my Mouse not working properly. And only noticed a few mins afterwards when i wanted to finish my earrings that they disappeared! This could be prevented by implementing a warning pop-up sign which warns you before dropping your possible valuable item. So for example when you try to drop the item, a pop-up box comes up with a message "Do you really want to drop this item" and after clicking Ok, your item will be dropped accordingly. I also understand that a pop-up for every single thing you'd like to drop is not convenient, and therefore would like to suggest to implement this only for Equipments. Im not sure how easy it is to implement such thing (or if it's even possible), but im sure many players would appreciate this. Looking forward to anyone's feedback, or reasons why this should not be implemented. Thank you~
On top of that you get these poor guys banned by dropping your endgame gear in fm ch1 and they just pick it up and have to defend themselves by stating that they simply found it on the ground. /endjoke Do you drop some equip from times to times? To be honest sometimes you want to drop an equip very fast, and I see a lot of people dropping 10s to 20s of low value items sometimes. I can imagine that this would be really annoying for them. Also simply dropping items between friends like "look at this, do you think I should sell it" would be pretty annoying. If something like this will be implemented, I think it would not hurt to include a check up, if the item is really valuable, e.g. asking if the item has several scrolled slots like (+4 and above), and only then triggering the pop up. Otherwise, not being able to simply drop unscrolled equips would be more annoying than helpful I assume.
I indeed thought about this issue aswell, but in my opinion this could be quickly fixed by holding down the NPC chat button, and dropping your items accordingly. ( The NPC chat should work as pressing Ok in the pop-up warning ) Atleast in this way, an additional action / simple button press is required to be able to drop your items.
I feel like implementing this pop-up would be bothersome for most. I think a better solution for protecting highly valued gear would be the NX Item Guard, which we've been told will be implemented down the road (nobody knows how long this road is though ). https://royals.ms/forum/threads/item-guard.175492/
You could implement a command to activate the notification, this way only the ones that choose to be careful and slow at dropping items get to do it.
Bothersome for most & life saving for some But honestly i dont think it would bother anyone too much if you can continue dropping with the same speed as you can now, but while holding down npc chat button for example. Additionally, item guard is not intended to avoid accidental drop, but to protect the item in your account from getting sold/traded&dropped, which means that you can not trade the item while Item Guard is active, if im correct? And i personally don't think everyone wants to have their item stuck on their account just so you cant accidentally drop it...
I think that something like this is unnecessary. It adds additional steps to dropping items which can become inconvenient if you're dropping a lot of them. Plus, I feel like most of the time you're NPC'ing your equips anyways since you're leaving money on the table if you drop them. In that case, we have the buyback function to reverse mistakes when we NPC valuable equips. I feel like a lot of this just goes on the individual person to properly manage their inventory and equips as to not drop things they want to keep. For me, if there are items I want to keep from leeching I either put them at the top of my inventory, or I bring a storage mule to hold them for me. There are very few situation I can think of where you drop equips over NPCing them for mesos. Overall, I think this feature would just add additional steps to dropping items, where the inconvenience outweighs the minor edge case where it might save somebody from dropping something important.
Guess we can add a smol icon on each equipment so we can toggle it to decide this window to be prompt or not. Also, with this "toggle things" on, we can't NPC it unless we turn it off. Not sure how difficult is it to implement, and what r the pros and cons, this can be an idea for GM to figure out a better solution
I think a far more elegant solution would be the nx lock item. If they'll add it, we could just lock important gear
A drop alert tick box, in your inventory item tab, would also be a proper solution. So each individual player can turn their "drop alerts" on/off.
This only solves the problem of getting hacked and losing your items. It's not that all of my items i have as equipment can't be upgraded, thus not willing to lock them for trading.
I slightly disagree on this, since you have the buyback option to save yourself when accidentally selling items to NPC, but theres no savior when it comes to misclicking and thus accidentally dropping something valuable. In most games i have played this isn't possible without a warning prompt. But an optional tick box to turn drop alerts on/off would be ideal, so for those who don't wan't the hassle of holding Npc chat while dropping, they can still drop as normal.
If it would be possible, i think this prompt should only apply to scrolled items. Having it on all equips is too disruptive. But idk if its even doable
Agreed, best solution would indeed be to implement this only to scrolled items. Allthough im also not sure if this is even possible.
I'm welcome to any solution that doesn't add additional clutter to the process of dropping items. Personally, I feel like its an inventory management issue and people can easily avoid dropping important items by allocating items to certain spots in their inventory (I.E the top 8 spots) and just not dropping those items. Plus as Minty said above, we're getting NX Item Guard at some point which will probably address this issue. I just feel like adding additional steps to simple processes for incompetence is unnecessary when it causes inconvenience for the majority of people.
