I realize this topic may be somewhat of a meme to some people in the community, but hear me out. Pink Bean can bring with it two important but good changes to Royals. The first change would be to give the truly top end players a real goal to shoot towards as end game progression. Its also a boss that entire communities work together to defeat. From the guy who farms apples right up to the people who run lower tier bosses selling Zhelms or HTPs. Its a group effort to supply the server with enough resources in order to be able to defeat Pink Bean. The other change is a complete refresh of the weapons, armors and scroll markets ala a large chunk of the economy On the topic of Pink Bean. Im pretty comfortable saying that im probably one of the few people who ever got to experience Pink Bean before the release of potentials. Back before power creep infested every aspect of the game. As the server stands now,we no longer have any bosses that one could consider hard. I'm not gonna suggest all bosses here need to be Dark Souls encounters, but currently there is no longer content that offers the potential for failure. You might scoff at the notion of failure but failure is also important in keeping a games economy healthy. Failure means the expenditure of resources. As long as you dont experience any server lag or dc, every boss is a known quantity. Couple apples, pots and recharged stars and you're good to go. As long as you got enough HP you're pretty much going to coast through every boss without issue. Pink Bean changes this. It gives a resource dump and a massive time investment for people to wanna team up and go after. I've said for years that I didn't think we'd ever stand a chance against Pink Bean if it was ultimately left untouched. We didn't have enough strong items, dps built to survive the damage, nor the supply of attacking pots to give it an honest shot. I said that, because I was well aware of the absolutely impossibility that it was to down the boss. My Pink Bean groups despite being littered with players who had spent thousands of dollars on gear (Rip Damage cap of 99,999) Wheels of Fortune (Were basically nx res's that you could have infinite of and had no cool down of use) and HP washing we still didn't stand a chance. This was all down to the punishing time restriction the encounter had. You had 1 hour to kill 4 statues which all had certain mechanics behind them and could wipe a party if you didn't pay attention and then you had the little fat hamster himself to put down. All 2b+ Hp that he had. For years i thought it impossible but since ive been back playing over the last month or so, Ive realized that right now with all the power items floating around the server I think we could give Pink Bean a fair shot. I don't think I have to go into much more about this point. On the topic of Weapon, Armor and other economy based changes With the introduction of Pink Bean comes the addition of Reverse and Timeless weapons and armors. I also believe this brings with it the Maker Ability. Maker is a whole other topic i can go into but i wont as its a pretty large economy change as well. Reverse items were either crafted through maker or IIRC were potential drops off Horntail. Timeless however only dropped off Pink Bean. Even if we just had no maker and only had Reverse gear drop off select bosses, simply having a new tier of end game weapons and armors would give us new items to upgrade our characters with. It would also revive to a certain extent weapon and armor scrolls markets with everyone looking to make new stuff. Obviously some will not like this change as they've spent countless hours working on perfecting or scrolling very good items, and while I can certainly understand the feeling of having your items become less valuable (125 Nisrock on Broa that eventually got beat out by average scrolled Reverse bows) i think its important that we take this leap. A new set of things to add to characters gearing progression on top of reigniting the scroll market would only do us well in my humblest opinion. TL DR- I think we've reached critical mass of power on Royals and think we can give a fair fight to Pink Bean. Pink Bean being put in also brings new weapons and armors for every class. These are good ways to revitalize the economy on Royals cause people who stopped spending money since they've reached peak power to start spending on things again. Edit: As if i could forget, Pink Bean brings with it MW30. If we actually defeat PB, who wouldnt want to have mw30
Apologies if I came off as if I expected content to take precedent over a server need like an autoban. I mean eventually an autoban system will be into place and we'll get to a point where hackers are less of a thing. I'm interested in starting a conversation now and down the road it gets added or not. For example the idea of Neo Tokyo was given as feedback something like 3 or 4 years ago, it got discussed, the community showed a lot of interest, im sure it lead to internal discussion among staff who eventually gave Matt the final draft. Kevin then went on to work on the code and we got it added a few years later.
Can't believe it has been over five years since I made the guide for Pink Bean; thought it would release in a year or two then. (No. We may not have successfully took it down, but the idea of going on rehearsal runs and failed trials is exciting on its own - I too have experienced Pink Bean pre-potential and it was definitely memorable). That being said, I don't actually see it happening here to be honest. We'll see. Maybe I'll return to make another post in 2025 to note how it has been 10 years since the guide without the boss
So I'm new to the server (Made an account back in 2017 and recently came back), but I've heard from a lot of people that this is a major problem with this server that has had very little progress over the years. As someone who has read that this is a primary reason for them leaving or not joinging the server to begin with, I have to ask is there any reason for no auto-ban system? Do you guys need help? lol I'm fresh out of college with a degree in Computer Science and a degree in Applied Mathematics and I would love to help the community if it's a simple lack of staff or resources. Just not sure what prevents an auto-ban system from being in place I suppose.
You can read here regarding the auto-ban https://royals.ms/forum/threads/gm-blog-october-2020.174834/
90 minutes is plenty of time for another server with weaker gear. I wouldn't change anything at release except for the HP thresholds
https://royals.ms/forum/threads/community-q-a-1.180833/ Matt gave an explanation to that in his recent q&a, and he also said that now, with the autoban's current state, we are not that far from adding PB.
if it does ever come out, I think we should also talk about the items received and their stats, and how they should be balanced/implemented into this server. as per https://bbb.hidden-street.net/search_finder/timeless and https://bbb.hidden-street.net/search_finder/reverse The items level up and have CHANCES of increasing stats and at level 5 only a 10% chance of a skill level up. I think it should be a SET AMOUNT per lvl up and a 100% chance of skill level up at level 5. A visual example of what I mean: Also, some of the actual stats and which stats increase need to be changed to actually fit the equip slot for the difficulty level of pink bean to replace some best in slot items. Whatever best fits the slot/level area and actually make the items useful. example: WA/MA per level up on some equips, avoidability, increase/decrease certain stats that are useless (speed/jump on thief gear) or too OP (Avoid on thief gear) sorry I'm using thief gear as the main example here, it's just easy for most people to get what I'm saying #NLstory. Reasons for this change: 1. These items will be way too difficult to obtain, once obtained, it should be a set rate per level up to not deal with continuous farming for a better one. 2. If godly system IS implemented, imagine getting a godly one and it going +0 and then no +1 Skill lvl up @lvl5. yikes. I also would suggest that the godly system NOT be implemented in these items (except for the common equips; Pendant, Cape, Earrings), Instead, making the items just VERY hard to get/create via maker skill, for once obtained, it will be much stronger than a dragon item. As well as raise the level requirement of the item, I would say 170-180 is a good area, leveling up begins to slow a bit around this area and it would still be viable to use dragon weapons at lower levels. I know pink bean will probably be edited a bunch for the current average DPS of the server, and the drop rate adjusted, so there would need to be an overall balance of the drop rates vs. the difficulty of crafting the items, so one doesn't become much more popular than the other. For the consumption of pink bean dreamers, here's some pink bean drop porn, I adjusted the stats for some items to reflect my suggestions.
