May 2, 2021 Update We have decided to temporarily suspend the MarketPlace (Google Sheets) service due to the realization that we cannot prevent a user (with editing permission) from sharing the public input sheet with unauthorized individuals. We are also aware that all users with access can view other user's email address. Although no abuse has happened thus far, this isn't something we are totally comfortable with. We are currently working on a web version of the service. If successful, the MarketPlace service will resume with many advantages that Google Sheets fail to offer, particularly in the security and privacy aspect. If you have any interest in our web development process, you can reach out to me on Discord (kalison#8334). In the mean time, please feel free to continue using the Google Sheet for the Price Guide section. Spoiler: In Development: Royals Market Web Introduction We are working on a web version of the MarketPlace for Maple Royals, which will be called Royals Market. Previously, the MarketPlace exists within Google Sheets. Spoiler: Features Royals Market functions like an in-game owl. For those who are familiar with Warframe, Royals Market will be nearly identical except it will not have an API linked to our MapleRoyals in-game accounts. Features we will likely see: Search bar for users to look up items they want to buy, sorted by verified users with the lowest price at the top Registered users can create postings of items they want to buy or sell A button for you to mark an item as sold Bidding/auction-house function Other potential features: Reputation system Private messaging Auto-delete postings after a certain period of time Personal stats, such as a history of how much you've sold and bought Spoiler: Users and Accounts Users are encouraged to register with their main IGN as the account name, but with a different password they use for Royals Users can verify their account by submitting a screenshot of their character standing next to their character stats window. Postings of verified, online users are always displayed above postings of unverified users A monthly (in-game mesos) fee is in consideration to support the upkeep of the service Spoiler: Benefits Player Benefits Complementary to FM stores, maintaining nostalgia of the server No disruption to merching. Similar to Warframe, users can still buy low and sell high Improves overall trading efficiencies. No more Owling We will no longer need price guides Sellers are no longer limited by their store item limit Unlimited exposure for your items for sale, including NX items It's like a BasilMarket for Royals, hopefully it attracts more players to the server New or returning players can make informed decisions when buying or selling GM Benefits A tool like this streamlines the trading aspect of the game, making it hard for players to go from Royals to another server, giving Royals a competitive advantage We will discuss other GM benefits directly with the administration Spoiler: Abuse Abuse such as, but not limited to price-fixing, scamming, bait and switch, are not allowed and can result in a ban from the service Spoiler: Privacy If email is required upon registration, it will not be displayed or shared with anyone. The private messaging feature should satisfy all communication needs when it comes to buying and selling items
I voted no, but I wanted to clarify that I didn't mean it in a mean way but rather that manually walking through fm is quite nostalgic mmo for me, and having a merching viable economy is kind of cool. On warframe and and wow (wow in particular because of the add ons) buying and selling felt much less personal / mmo like to me. All subjective of course.
This is cool and took a lot of effort. But, I remember when the lounge was implemented a while back. A forum post was made to just simply, use the lounge instead of smegas. It was such a great idea to save people meso and you can lounge from anywhere. For example, channel 2 lounge would be bossing recruitment. channel 3 lounge would be leech selling/buying. NO MORE SMEGAS. You just all chat in the lounge "J>HT or B>pretris leech" But uh. We couldn't even do that as a server/group. something as simple as using the lounge to streamline communication and save everyone BILLIONS of mesos. I don't think people are going to use your brilliant system either.
Thank you guys for the feedback so far. Lounge would be a great communication channel. Sad to see it's not being utilized.
It's a very creative idea but it might not be very realistic as it could conflict with the administration's general practices and game terms and conditions. I voted no but I'm also a bit biased since an active FM was always part of the reason why I love Royals
GMS,KMS,MSEA... has simular system to what you suggest is called Auction House this idea is nice it can help new players get to know FM aswell as players that don't chek FM trends regularly but i still belive FM and all the futures FM offers is what made this game and we should keep that way would like to see NX items sell enabled in stores instead of forum because that is the only thing "hard" to sell without smega-forum spams
Voted for "I'm unsure" as I am unable to judge without knowing how it works I am also undecided between having an online trade feature or the traditional Free Market roaming method I do agree being able to see all of the prices online or even able to do trades via it would be more convenient, however Free Market has always been a part of MapleStory to me I believe if we do remove the need of Free Market by allowing listing or search on an online platform, the Free Market will be useless in Royals And also why MapleStory removed Free Market - https://maplestory.nexon.net/news/28016/free-market-closing-soon
This was one of my biggest concerns, but after using it for a while, I realized it could never replace the FM. The FM is only useless on GMS now because their auction house allows players to buy items directly, which my tool will never do. As of this moment, the FM is just complementary to my MarketPlace tool because my guildies can visit my shop to make some of purchases instead of having to whisper me. Both things actually work hand in hand and I like that because I also joined Royals for nostalgic reasons too, and I wouldn't want to take that away from myself or anyone else.
Thanks! Feel free to try it out: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/a-marketplace-for-mapleroyals.189656/
We got a few more users lately and it's been working great. Would love to see more of you using this tool. The more users we have, the closer we get to reaping the full benefits listed in the thread
I saw you on FM ch1 telling people to check out the MarketPlace in the forums, and here I am. Fell in love with the effort you put in this, and how organized everything is! There's even a video demo <3. Then, I stumbled upon your Q&A, question 4 and 5, about item sniping and price-fixers. I agree with item sniping, but I don't get why people can't price-fix, since they can add whatever price they want to their item. I see you said "it eliminates competition", but doesn't item sniping have the same principle since anyone can price items below the market value or lower than any price in the MarketPlace after doing some research on the filters? Also, how would you track people who are price-fixing (ofc there might be a way, I'm no excel god)? And what if they just fixed the price one or two times? Would they be banned?
Thanks for the great questions - I can see you really thought about it! I can't stop users from price fixing by submitting an item at a lower price and refusing to sell it. This is an issue on Warframe Market too, but what makes me feel better about it is that people tend to quickly figure out if someone is price fixing. For example: You whisper someone because they have a cheap item for sale, but that person doesn't respond even though he's clearly not afk You see a cheap item on the MarketPlace, but it has been there for a couple days now, and it still hasn't been sold, and the seller is never online In that case, you can take a few screenshots and submit it to me. On the same note, I remember playing Warframe last year and the price fixers could never do it for long because the sellers of the same item always recognize them and refuses to sell to them (since price fixers are usually trying to lower the listing price so they can buy the item for much cheaper and flip them). I guess most of my confidence in this tool comes from the fact that Warframe Market is basically using the same system and everyone seems to be happy with it.
if this system was around when i played on my non ironmen, i would've definitely given it a go. One of the things i hated the most on the market was how i needed to keep myself up to date with the worth of items if i wanted to set up shop, or go on a shopping spree. the time i wasted walking around FM, and buying owls, could've gone to playing the parts of the game i liked. I ended up hoarding a lot of valuable items and never selling cause that's a pain... i wish this project the best of luck
Aw thank you. I also firmly believe this tool will give people back a lot of their time that they can use to do whatever else they want, but at the same time, people who enjoy merching can still continue to do so through a consolidated system.
I have updated this thread with the development notes of the Royals Market website. Dasha: Please review and keep me posted.
