Gauntlet used to always be every 2 hours. What was the reasoning behind changing this to be every 4 hrs? Please change this back! Make gauntlet great again!
For the Easter Event of 2021, Egg PQ's (which was new afaik) initial timer was 2 hours and a feedback thread was created about how it felt like it was spammed too often, and the timer should be increased to 4 hours. I’m not personally opposed to a 2 hour timer in the future, but just wanted to mention that a similar topic has been brought up/addressed before, which assumably is why the timer is 4 hours. Edit: I think it was Easter Egg PQ, not Christmas. Sorry about that ~
Appreciate seeing a GM reply! I've looked for this feedback and could not find anything about it. Personally I would like to see just how much support this suggestion got, especially if it is the reason for the change. Or if there is another valid reason for the change, I would love to hear it. I don't believe a single line of text every 2 hours for an optional event should be considered spammy, and I think many would agree with me.
That's fair, I had a bit more time now to sit down and look into it, and I'm struggling to find it as well. Admittedly the events throughout the years have gotten blurred in my mind, but I do know for a fact, at some point a feedback was made somewhere about the timer. However it's possible it was about the 1hr gauntlet timer being too spammy (I forgot it used to be 1 hr before).
Its not a fair comparison. easter egg pq took longer to finish, and was a more dull gameplay (normal attacking spam). in comparison, gauntlet is just a 1-2 min investment of your time, and acts as a nice pallet cleanser between your usual grind with JQ gameplay (which is a more engaging type of gameplay)
I don't think there's any issue with making the gauntlet every 2 hours. In fact, that seems like the more logical route anyway. Even every hour wouldn't be crazy (similar to how some events have run in GMS.) At some point, in my opinion, the frequency at which an event like this occurs can make you feel less fear of missing out and more relaxed. That is, the more frequent the event occurs, the easier it is for someone to feel 'No worries, I'll just catch the next gauntlet'. At any rate, 2 hours sounds very reasonable. We'll keep a note of it for the next Halloween event. Thanks for the feedback!
