So it turns out that Papulatus, a limited 2/day boss with prequest, gives less exp than hunting bigfoot. Pap, as arguably a harder boss, somehow gives less exp than bigfoot. Yes it can be argued that bigfoot is more of a threat due to high damage, but still the amount of exp from Pap is pretty low. I'd recommend at least a 2x buff (currently gives 5.1m compared to 8.5m from BF, this would put it at 10.2m exp, just a bit higher) to the exp.
but pap is guaranteed, whereas bigfoot is 12 hour respawn x 20 channels = approx 40 available per day =/ trading exp for a harder but guaranteed boss is kinda fair imo but still i would love to see buffed exp, nx and energizers drops
Papulatus has a considerably higher average nx drop compared to Bigfoot and is pretty high in terms of exp/hp compared to other daily bosses. Spoiler: Daily Boss EXP/HP 1. Scarlion/Targa (Not simultaneously) - 0,100 Yet I don’t think comparing Area Bosses to Daily Bosses is the way to go. While there might be many opportunities for Area Bosses one also has to put in the effort to actually find enough for it to be worth it and that should be rewarded. The 320 Bigfoot’s you mention are „shared“ with the entire daily population while every character has the opportunity to kill Papulatus twice.
As a regular bigfoot hunter, I must say it is considerably easier to find 2 bigfoots (or even 5 bigfoots) than to go out of your way to Pap 2x. While comparing to Area Bosses may not be the way to go, it is still nonetheless true that Papulatus exp is bizarrely unrewarding for the time investment. The HP ratio is deceiving as well, as Pap takes a not insignificantly longer time than on paper to receive damage that most other bosses on that list. I personally just think it is bizarre that the main use for an earlier level boss (relative to the 135 starting point) is for much higher level characters to do daily nx farming.
I only wish that the number of hits that can be given to the BF could be fixed, although I think it was like that since GMS, maybe it was a mistake or it was done deliberately like this, when I hit it with the bm it always dodges 40% of my hits arrows, even with my hero miss of 8 blows I only hit 5/6!
As someone who regularly do pap and BF hunting, and use TP rocks with reckless regard, BF is still hands down a massively better grind even in the short term. Exp to HP ratio are not a good way to base an argument when comparing bosses in vastly different HP counts; maplestory is balanced around a continuously decreasing hp to exp ratio over time because damage of a character scales up faster, and you start to run into ineffective use of your damage (overkill 1 shot, killing mobs too fast so you walk more in the map). a similar design is in big bosses, where the game expects you to co-op the boss, so they count on party exp to fill the gap, and the fact that you kill it faster makes the travel and prep to the boss a bigger portion of your time. in royals, pap turned into a solo boss, and for a solo boss he's simply undertuned compared to BF. (or maybe bf is simply overtuned lol)
Buffing pap exp won’t turn him into a party boss. We cannot buff everything. It’s already by far easier to reach 200 especially with LHC. If we do keep comparing pap and bf, yes bf exp is overturned. Do you want us to nerf bf? I doubt it. I‘d say it’s normal progression that at some point certain content isn’t as good anymore and you move on to new stuff.
