I'm not sure why a fixed speed is applied to ropes and ladders (was it always like this?) but it would improve the mobility of everyone by so much if your own speed was applied to climbing.

    What'd you guys think.

Could people voting for no explain their reasonings?
I'm not sure why someone would be against improved mobility.

For real though, I agree with your feedback. It always puzzled me that your speed was not taken into account when climbing stuff. I figured that it was a limitation of the client and could never be changed, so I never bothered to ask. I would love to see this change.

I recall hearing somewhere, long ago, that this is what the mysterious "Hands" substat affects.

This was just a rumor. There were all sorts of theories about what "Hands" did, but it actually did nothing for a long time. Once the maker skill was introduced, that was the first time Hands did anything at all.

Nostalgia and it seems like a pain having to get used to different climbing speeds ;)

Every other server I've tried had different rope climb speeds with and without haste / hog. I'm not sure if it's a bug here or if the other servers are all bugged as I can't recall how it was in gms 10 years ago.
Rope climbing seems trivial but it's a real qol improvement that everyone grinding experiences especially on tall maps like the ones in deep ludi, which this server seems to want to buff. Before anyone calls me out on some maps where you can cc and start from the top, I'm aware.

I can see how it can be pain, but that's no different than getting used to the different walking speeds. It'll only be an improvement.

And I seriously don't get the "nostalgia" argument. Has anyone really felt nostalgic about a slow climbing speed? Many things are different in this server, the last thing someone would be nostalgic about is the climbing speed lol.

I wouldn't change it at all. I prefer having things as close to how the game was in the 2008-2009 era as possible.

Imagine Usain Bolt climbing a rope at nearly ~30mph.

As nice as it would be, I also think personally, I like having slow climbing speeds. It makes more sense, and it's how it was, and it adds to the tactical "Do I go up the ramp or climb the rope", etc.

It's also a tactical decision whether to mount hog for classes without haste. The poll speaks for itself tbh

I’m all for it, as ladders really feel slugish when you use them after being on haste/high base speed.
But being able to climb at 40% faster speeds might look a little too derpy, and climbing with mounts will look outright silly.
I say, either have it be affected by your jump stats, or have it be half of your speed, capping at 120% (the cap applying to mounts).
A 120% climb speed will help the ladders feel like less of a chore, while maintaining a climbing speed that doesn’t look halarious

Alternatively, I think it might not be such a bad idea to put little ledges beside all of the ropes in the game to allow the haste-jump-to-the-side-then-jump-up.

I agree that climbing speed could be faster, but not equal to your walking speed (especially because of mounts).
