Nerf auto pots : bring relevance back to mule/support classes

    the isssue it's more in multiclients-mulestory instead pet's
    people won't take other when they got Night Lord that can macro TT x 3 + warrior attack mule and other buff mules to solo
    this party + exp system need change so people would take less benefit if bring mules
    or
    block multiclient~f1 ~f17

    I think you kinda underestimate the difficulty of bringing mules too, for HT in particular.
    I often bring my BS as a mule to HT and it isn't really that easy.
    First of all you must wash your bishop to at least 4k hp or so or you'd die very easily during dispels, and would need a lot of focus and efforts to stay alive. Also when you die on a bishop you get no second chances to revive, and if your other character is the sed mule you'd have to do sed without anyone to heal you.
    If you wash it becomes a lot easier but you still have quite a lot of work trying to climb and HS (bs got very low avoid and falls a lot, and HT dispels a lot later on), healing sed, trying to dispel the heads (if there is no warrior), and watching out for darks later on when head A is alive (unless you washed to a very high hp, but there aren't many bishops like that). I only bring the bishop cause I need to level it to 200, otherwise I wouldn't bother bringing it.

    Bringing SE is also quite troublesome. First of all by bringing it you are losing an attacker so you'd have to either run with less people (which will take longer) or still have 6 people+BM when you'd have to constantly switch parties (which is a lot of trouble to do and wastes a lot of time). You also need a washed character that got to 4th job and archers aren't that popular so not many people have a mule like that.
    You'd either have a high level BM as a mule which will either leech from the party exp or will have to constantly leave party and rejoin (which is a lot of trouble) or a low lvl SE mule. Making a low lvl SE mule takes a lot of effort as well since by adding all your points into HP you'd be forced to leech a character all the way to around 130 without any damage. It's also not very rewarding since you'd usually only get a little bit more split (from less people in the party) and not double split for bringing 2 characters.
    Personally I almost never bring my BM as a mule and only bring it in extreme cases where I can't find any SE at all.

    Bucc isn't really worth to bring either unless you need extra revives (like if you have buyers) since there is usually only 1 warrior and the damage you lose from switching parties is more than the actual damage SI gives.

    I mean if it was that easy to make a mule and bring it most of the runs would be like that, yet most of the runs I see are the standard 6 man runs.

    building mules takes time and effort, that i do agree, rebuffing at HT is difficult yes
    but if there was no auto pot, that mule is either dead, not logged in or has to be properly played as a character instead of a mule
    the problem with auto pot is that the survivability of characters is made extremely easy (compared to limited/no auto pot)
    so the value of playing a support class as a main/alt is lowered as it is better to play an attacker main and mule the supports

    if there was a choice, in the current state of the game
    1. spend 30b to build a MM main and 5b to for a NL, during boss runs, you are focused on the MM for buffing and play while the NL is additional DPS
    2. spend 30b to build NL main and 5b for a mule MM, during boss runs you are focused on the NL for DPS, while the MM is used for SE buff and additional DPS
    of course option 2 is wayyyyy better

    however if you could only have 1 character on due to humanly limits when there is nerfed/no auto pot
    1. 35b on a MM main to play as support/DPS
    2. 35b on a NL to play as pure DPS
    both are pretty much valued in their own rights and there is no definite answer where one is guaranteed better

    the whole point of this thread is to nerf auto pot so that mules and supports can shine more than what they currently are, as there will be a need to actually play actively on characters and build them

    I'd argue, that by design, the game would be too unfair to most classes if autopots were out of the game.
    Most high end bosses are capable of 2 shotting even washed characters. not to mention 1h on most squishy attackers that didn't wash.
    Some jobs require more focus than other jobs, and some players experience more lag than others, both can be a factor than will lead to a single mistake of missing a pot, that i will lead to a death.
    if you want to make no autopots work, you'll also need to add more breathing room to react to hits, therefore, lowering the damage of bosses, or slowing the time between hits, and maybe even nerfing 1/1. Or just get used to the fact that a single mistake in a 1 hour HT run would cost you a teammate and potentially the run.
    But if you do that, people that did wash (or warriors), will be able to handle potting multiple clients if they are fast enough, or if they have enough hp to tank some hits, which will repeat the problem of mules entering boss fights (well, basically nerfed a bit from all the attention they'll get by the attacker). There's no real elegant way to solve this, and considering this is mulestory and nostalgiastory at this point, 90% of the community will rally against this idea anyways ~f8

    yea it's not good to touch the pet pot small lagspike 1/1 + GFX try and you are dead
    for some class that's fine they can get used but not all class can tank

    for the high end bosses 1 shotting characters, im pretty sure the current hp quests, medals n stuff was meant to address that by making content available to all classes (optional hp washing features of this server)
    as for killing characters in 2 hits, that is pretty much the point of things like 1/1 and stuff, its supposed to be a game mechanic to increase difficulty so that the boss is not like krex where its like high hp with low/no risk
    the need to focus to play is pretty much the point of playing - otherwise its more or less like robotic play (hmmmmmmmmm).
    death caused by forgetting to pot is human error and is part of the game. taking damage should not be just another number but should be something that has an impact to gameplay.

    as it stands, if you had a huge stack of potions, say full inventory 9600 PE, 30k hp washed NL, pretty much can afk at anego with auto pots on, getting slapped for hours and dying is not too much of a problem. what was the point of making anego slap so strong then? might as well just nerf anego slaps to 5k slaps and there will be hardly any impact to gameplay while every class can now survive slaps without having to wash or be cautious.


    pretty much a problem if auto pot is removed entirely, maybe limit auto pots to toggleable, with a 100 potion storage so that it is an emergency system instead of a staple?

    I’m not sure what you are arguing with your Anego example. one reason that NL washed to 30k is because of strong hits like Anego slap. and if that person spent that ungodly amount of mesos to fund that wash, IMO they should have the luxury of tanking large hits such as that without needing to manually repot.

    Disabling autopot would remove fun from the game for me. I think everyone agrees that a Sair/NL main with SE mule brings the highest potential damage. I personally play as an SE main because I prioritized the archer playstyle being fun. Fun. That is what we hoped to find in joining this server.

    I do quite enough damage for my own satisfaction, and I can do it partially because I am not taking my finger off my attacks to manually repot every other second. If we lose autopot, you are asking to extend the duration people are in bosses and you are inviting an immeasurable rise in stress across the entire bossing community. When it is HT, the usual 1 hr 20 runs could easily run close to 2 hrs... I would rather not be continually stressed inside a game designed to relieve stress.

    in my anego example, im trying to show that afk survival is possible with autopot, which by right should be a death sentence.

    as for bossing in general, what i do feel is that support and mule'd classes could be brought in value, so that people would not have to join the meta NL/sair + SE mule, but instead play classes that they truly find more enjoyable as a main, whether its a support or attacker (much like the official servers back in the day).

    on the other hand, the stress increased without autopot will be a given, and was pretty much in the original game design (auto pot was a luxury cash shop item and not a commodity). the time required to clear bosses without auto pot will increase as a result from nerfed auto pots, and given the small player base, looking for larger parties might take long or sometimes unfeasible.
    this could technically be adjusted for by reducing the boss hp, so that the time taken to clear bosses would be scaled to regular levels or maybe a shorter to account for player stress.

    My idea is why not make a seperate version of each boss (hardcore mode) that doesnt allow auto pots/ pets altogether. maybe they could give greater rewards, maybe even adjust the damage it deals whether thats decreasing or increasing the damage, maybe even increase the helth of the boss.

    For limitation of mules/multiclient in bosses, what about implementing the same system of snowman map to every boss map? Would it not be feasible due to the minority who can benefit from owning multiple pc?

    Snowman boss locks out multiple concurrences by ip address, so...nice idea!

    This not only addresses the drawbacks of auto hp pot removal, but also preventing this server into continuing to be a mulestory!

    I'm having flashbacks to the time some bishop told my team that he wont come if he cant get all helms after we smegaed for half am hour. Greedy bitch ended up not coming since some of the atkers wanted to reloot. We ended up using a mule since no bishop wanted to come :(
