As I was wandering around thinking of hosting Drk vs Pally krex match, something struck my mind. I remembered the event match I held long ago between Drk vs BM where we detected an unusual exp splitting system. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/drk-vs-bm-krexel-event-match.115529/ From this experience, we speculated that the split exp among 2 people (out of the party) may not be following a strict exp : dealt dmg ratio. Our hypothesis was 'Whoever last hits the common targetted mob gets more exp when both characters are not in the same party' So I went to test this out with the help of a few volunteers. We picked Headless Horseman (960k exp) to be the target mob since it has a fairly large HP pool and can be found with ease. SetupI used my lvl 200 corsair to first reduce the HP of HH to exactly 50% (with a tiny variance since it's impossible to see the actual hp values). This was achieved with the help of a 30 cm ruler. I used it to measure the length of the HH's HP bar on my 28-inch monitor and with a happy coincidence, it was exactly 16 cm long. So I attacked the HH until it reached the 8 cm mark. Then a 2nd person finished off the remaining 50% HP of HH, ofc last hitting it. If the exp split is directly proportional with the dealt damage, each of us should have received approximately 460k exp. Result and discussion Spoiler: Scenario 1 Scenario 1 Lvl 200 Corsair dealt first 50% dmg Lvl 153 MM dealt remaining 50% dmg Exp gained by Corsair Exp gained by MM (Last Hitter) 383700/960000 = 0.3996 = 39.96% 576299/960000 = 0.6003 = 60.03% Basically 40:60 ratio where the last hitter takes an additional 10% exp (away from the Corsair). Spoiler: Scenario 2 Scenario 2 Although there is a common knowledge that exp split out of party has nothing to do with the character's level, I wanted to make sure so I repeated the experiment with a lvl 200 NL. Lvl 200 Corsair dealt first 50% dmg Lvl 200 NL dealt remaining 50% dmg Exp gained by Corsair Exp gained by NL (Last Hitter) 388899/960000 = 0.4051 = 40.51% 571100/960000 = 0.5949 = 59.49% Once again 40:60 ratio but one should notice the white exp in this scenario was for lower exp. My guess is that the damage Corsair dealt was slightly over 50% before the last-hit-factor added the extra 10% exp to the last hitter's exp, hence still showing the white exp color for Corsair. Spoiler: Scenario 3 Scenario 3 We wanted to test if the same applies when we are in the same party. An identical setting was used as scenario 2 but with both characters in the same party. Exp gained by Corsair Exp gained by NL (Last Hitter) The ratio was more or less 50:50 in this scenario so the favored exp split toward the last hitter seems to only apply when characters are not in the same party. Maybe this is normal o_o but I wanted to make a feedback for the sake of discussion and confirmation on the exp split system.
The result's consistancy makes it look like an intended system. Though this makes me wonder if this system works in a raid party. After all, raid parties are supposed to work together, in separated parties, to take on a bigger boss. It would be weird to give an exp advantage to one of the parties because one of their members was lucky enough to deal the last strike. If this system is actually a thing, i believe it should be removed for fairness' sake.
