Map block command?

I have played another server where there's a mapblock command that can be used by the map owner to block the KSer. If I remember correctly, the KSer will hit miss on the mobs.

It was a really great feature that I loved in that server.
Players wouldn't need to log a ticket to report KS and Admins don't need to review the tickets.

Is there a reason why this is not implemented?

^ Might be a meme, but I do agree. :xD:

I personally wouldn't want map block implemented because I think that takes away the fun from sharing maps (unless they're in a party/expedition).

I remember when the 2017 Christmas Event was first released and many, many people were farming event items in CH1 Henesys Hunting Ground 1. The map owner didn't prompt us to CC, so it was pretty much a free-for-all in looting the event items. Everyone was there -- any class, level, you name it. It really felt like a community to me -- and I missed stuff like that. ^_^'

Anyways, I just feel like the map block will isolate fun maps like these even further. Besides
players still have the ability to report KSers. A few screenshots of evidence with the server time should be enough to suffice, I think.

Claiming those event boss maps will become serious business

Kill stealing reports aren't all that common. Most people understand the mapowner rules and respect them. A change like this would only cause more hostility I think.

The whole Sonnybish Lyka incident wouldn't happen with this command. Just saying.

This command literally has no drawback. Wanna share map? Don't toggle this command. Get KSed? Toggle this command.

Oops, I see what you both are saying now. I misinterpreted and assumed you meant a system that automatically enables the map block feature once the map owner is established. Sorry. ^_^'

So, I can agree with you that I don't see any potential drawbacks as long as the player has an option to toggle the command his or herself.

Inb4 people will troll in boss expeditions and cause everyone to miss for the lols
A problem i see with this system is that map ownership remains when you leave a map, so even after you left a map, it will be unusable to anyone for a couple of minutes. Not ideal.

Tbh, this would further destroy what little there is of a training community, which to me was one of the best parts of maple.

I'm not a fan of this suggestion, but I don't see how this suggestion would "destroy" the training community. OP describes a toggleable command to deny killsteals. If you have map ownership, it doesn't mean you NEED to have this on. if someone wants to train with you, you can just leave it off and party with them. If you don't want to party with them, but they insist on taking your kill, pop the command on.
This suggestion is not nostalgic, but it isn't anti-group training either.

The map ownership is already anti-group training, this would be an added feature to enforce it. You should realize the way this'll happen when implemented is that a substantial amount of people who're aware of the command will just immediately use it on every map they go to train. While yes, it doesn't mean you NEED to have it on, map ownership also doesn't mean you NEED to kick people off of your map, but we both know that is largely how it works now, because these systems encourage solo play.

Donno about you, but when i want to party with other people, I invite them to party training with me when they pass by my channel. If someone doesn't want to party with others, it's not because there's a system called map owner that incentivises them to not party, its because they don't want to party, simple as that. This is a tool made to deter people from bullying other players and actively stealing their kills, i would never party up with someone who's first way of interacting with someone else is trying to steal their shit, mapowner or no mapowner. So I'm 100% sure that mapowner, or OP's suggestion won't hurt teamplay.
There are far bigger problems that caused team training to become so bad, you are barking at the wrong tree buddy.

And how often do you want to party with other people, or how often do they stick around long enough for you to invite them, or that they accept the invite? I could be wrong, but on the latter two questions, I would estimate it's usually not often. Map owner absolutely incentivizes playing solo, if you look back at the reason original maple had a party play culture is that there were too many players, and not enough maps. So if everyone wanted to train, you would either have to KS someone or get KS'd, partying was the middle ground. Of course that's not the only reason people would party, but that's where the party culture originates from, and why eventually people would just party even when all the channels weren't full. Royals has the opposite issue, a solo culture, because the map ownership rules gives you freedom of being KS'd and makes KSing illegal, even if there are too many players (Which there aren't, but for some maps there are.), people refuse to party because there's no threat of retaliation if you don't. So instead, if all 20 channels are taken by 1 player each, there's no reason to party with the 21th player unless you're feeling generous. While the intention of the no KSing rule is to prevent bullying and actively stealing other player's kills, you can't just downplay its unintended side effects.
"So I'm 100% sure that mapowner, or OP's suggestion would hurt teamplay." Typo or are you agreeing with me?
Even if there are bigger problems (There are a few, but they're not significantly larger than the solo culture, I.E. leeching, the optimal maps being designed in a way that encourages solo play.) that shouldn't immediately disqualify discussion on the issue, because it is an issue.

"there's no reason to party with the 21st player unless you are feeling generous"
Now HERE'S the core of the problem. Solo play simply gives you more exp than partying.
Again, even in GMS, if someone asked to party first, i'd party with them, but if he tried to be an ass and KS, then i didn't bother talking to them. Nothing related to the deterant of ksing.
Party play in gms occured because of the lack of chs, or maps that are too big for a single person, and generally you'd bump into more players no matter which map you walked into.
This game was simply designed with a large playerbase in mind. So now that its in a tiny server with an avarage of 1k online players on 20 chs, it was bound to get its playerbase to get used to solo play.
Also, now that we have a lot of experience with the game, and have the power of the internet, we know how to lvl up efficiently in solo maps, and completely forgot how to lvl up well in partying.
In short, i think lack of exp incentives and empty early-game caused lack of teamwork, not any map ownership.

    P. S we are derailing this thread so we should really put a stop to this convo

    P.S.S it was a typo :p

I not sure why you not partying with others
But I do seek party with others when I train my characters

I even approached a level 8x Ice Mage with my level 130 Bishop to offer free Holy Symbol
He clear bottom while I clear top of ulu 1

When I gonna afk, I just inform him and go to Lounge - simple as that
There was no argument about who should own the map

The ~mapowner is meant to protect me & him if someone else gonna ks us
