Currently, only gauntlet, the jumpquests, and the random drops give coins. Assuming you are not a mage class, the only realistic way to get coins is through jump quests. The jump quests have 6 hours cooldown, and gauntlet is only once per 2 hours. That means, that if you are a player that can only realistically do the jumpquest of the tower and the long one, you'll only get either 15/20/25 coins a day depending on how good you are + an amount that comes from gauntlet depending on your rank. Last year, gauntlet was hourly, and didn't have the long and boring boss rush attached to it, it made it easy to jump into, and a good source of coins. But this year, getting coins is slow, and if you are a non mage, grinding wont get you much because the droprate was balanced around mage ultis. My suggestion is to make bosses spawn the toads and cats similar to how it was in the anni event in relation to their difficulty, so that non-mages will be able to at least gain coins in non-jq manners as well.
My bishop has earned maybe 60 coins from leeching for hours and hours... I do gauntlet and Halloween challenge whenever I can on my NL. NL has over 200 coins.
I think this year's gauntlet is fine because of how the pumpkin box system work. It no longer limit you to 6hr per submission, so there's a chance you can get dark tokens from the pumpkin box you received from (assuming you do) participating in Five Horrors. So far I've gotten x10 tokens twice, x5 once, so it's not that bad.
ive been playing 2hrs a day, and now i have 3 chars with 300 coins each :O. I never did any grinding. I think its decent enough. I could have gotten so many more coins if i could play the whole day T^T
u get 1 coin from killing a grinding monster every 10 mins or so... not really helpful in my honest opinion. (Source, me selling ulu1/2 leech)
Wut that doesn't add up. The event is active for 6 days. Every day you do only 1-2 gauntlets, and lets say you do daily jq and tower. If you are a jq pro, you can do hard mod on all 3 charas. That adds up to 10+15 coins a day, 25x6=150. Because you can only do one gauntlet at a time, you can either focus on one chara and get good coinage from the higher difficulty, or spread it out and get some pretty sad amounts. There is no way you have 300 on 3 characters if you are playing 2 hours a day
He was talking about 3 characters and only 2 hours a day. I bet you do all the gauntlets on that NL, its a huge difference
I have also completed the gauntlet once or twice on two characters simultaneously (jump quest and horrors) using the same pc!

If that doesn't clarify, continue reading As for my 2 chars, I made sure to do the 2 gauntlets in 2hours, meaning I played 2hours 10mins ish. Yes i do the 10+15 jq daily. And for gauntlet, I spread it out to about an average of 9 per char (just now I got 6 and 13, Avg 9 because sometimes I lose and get less coins for the next gauntlet, and win and increase it again). Since I do it twice a day for 2 chars, thats 9 x 2 = 18. Im stagnating at this average at the moment. So thats (jq + jq) x 6 days + (avg token x twice a day) x 6 days = (10+15) x 6 + (9 x 2) x 6 = 258. (For both chars) Also including the low token rewards from gauntlets in the first 5 days, instead of 9 x 2 x 6, it should be estimated tokens per gauntlet for 1 char [2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,10,11] while the other [2,3,4,5,6,7,6,_,7,8,7,6] which equates to 86 & 61 respectively, the _ is for the times i bugged myself. (If you logout at the place with the cat NPC after finishing gauntlet, and you relogin during the next gauntlet timing, whether you complete the gauntlet or not, you wont receive tokens. I tried, I rushed to join gauntlet and won, but no tokens received. I dont bring a 2nd char to 5 horrors, I just logout after receiving tokens). [If you're wondering why the 12th number is not 13 like mentioned above, because I only reached the max tier for gauntlet on the 7/8th day not 6th] That brings the value to (10+15) x 6 + 86 = 236 (10+15) x 6 + 61 = 211 In addition, in that 2hrs -ish game time, I receive 4 pumpkin boxes (1 each from jq, 1 from gauntlet since I cant alt tab to hit with 2 chars fast enough, I do gauntlet twice), and proceed to afk farm monsters till the next gauntlet (didnt count how many tokens gained in this duration from the frog n cats but it was minimal :[). With 6 days, that also adds up to 18 (jq x 6 + 5-horrors x 2 x 6)+6 (jq x 6) pumpkin boxes which did include 5-10 tokens here and there, bringing it close to 300 per char.
