Currently buccaneer's barrage damage distribution is uneven, with the sixth hit being multiplied by x4 and the 5th hit multplied by x2. I feel that the damage from those multipliers should be added evenly through out all 6 lines of barrage for consistency and to prevent buccaneers from hitting the soft cap. Once a bucc hits 199k on the 5th or 6th line then they reach a soft-cap on barrage since their damage is limited to only going up on the remaining 4 lines. Thoughts?
This chart was taken straight out of @Buccaneer bucc guide: To actually feel the damage drop, you need some crazy high range, and even then, only when you have SE you actually feel that barrage hits the cap more consistently. And this doesn't take into account that barrage is only half of the combo of barrage+demo, which means that the damage loss is even lower than in this chart. Lets take pallies for an example. Pallies have only 1 line of attack in spammy main skill, that means 100% of the damage lost on cap is deducted from their overall dps. In comparison, bucc's barrage only hits to high damage on the 6th line of a long animation, and that skill takes only about half of the single target killing combo of barrage+demo. We buccs simply aren't affected as much by the cap. Unless you are an endgame min-maxer that is, but i don't believe that making barrage into a second demo in his style is justified if only they get affected by a few pathetic % of dps.
That's exactly who this post is for tbh. Those that can hit cap more frequently with the last line lose out on a few k's every barrage casts lose out on some damage, even if it's insignificant. In a game where people are willing to trade a few dozen b's for 1 more wattk I feel like this is an overlooked concept for a dated skill gimmick. Although I do admit my monkey brain does enjoy seeing damage cap every last line of barrage
While I do understand that it does slightly hurt the "theoretical" damage a bucc can do (only on a very high lvl and highly geared bucc on apple+SE), I don't think changing the flavor of the skill [the big punch in the end] is a reasonable suggestion when the damage loss is so tiny. And didn't we buccs get an amazing buff already? Before that buff, you'd be happy to just be accepted to an HT run Buccs are in a really good position right now, I honestly couldn't ask for more. [heck, they even approved my suggestion of fixing snatch <3] And my god, my monkey brain goes wild for damage cap as well I'm working on a new ironman MM mostly because i wanna see that damage cap, even thought it will be way weaker than my bucc
