Lets put an end to boss drops hiding in the corners!

    This suggestion came to me when i read the feedback thread related to pickup announcement in boss runs.
    In zakum and horntail, the large amount of drops causes items to pile up in both corners of the map.
    That's not that big a deal when items pile up, you can still sorta see what's in there, but in zak and ht, both sides have foreground elements that hide any item that might end up in the corners. I remember doing a zak run once, where i helped a friend reloot a zhelm, and we thought there was another zhelm in a corner because i couldn't pick it up, so he dropped his, only to realize a certificate was in the corner LOL
    Not knowing what dropped can also cause unnecessary drama.

    There are a few solutions that can be added to fix it:

    1. Somehow manipulate the map geometry to make the game think he can't drop the items in the corner, and instead it will pile near them, in a visable spot. I do not know how the code that determines valid drop floor works so i cant give any more input than this.
    2. Reduce trash items and meso bags completely from these two bosses. That way items won't even reach the walls. An added bonus to that would be that the item drops moment will be less chaotic, and people will be able to tell at a glance what dropped from the boss.
    3. This is the least preferred solution. Change the position of the walls in the map, drawing them at least close enough to see half of an item that is dropped in a corner. Its not preferred because of the visual nostalgia of being able to hide behind the foreground walls, and the fact that ht drops rocks there, and we don't want to nerf the threat of seducing into the rocks with low hp :p
    I'm sure many who do these boss runs would appreciate such a change, cause its never fun to try and realize if there's stuff in the corners, and if someone you do not know snatch something from there without you noticing

    Not to throw shade, but I resolve whether is a Zak helm or Zak cert in the corners is by removing the cert from my inventory. That way if is a helm, I won't be able to pick it up but if is a cert, I will be able to pick it.

    I think this suggestion might useful to the eye dropper who wants to pick their nx card.

    bump this. Great suggestion. Just as of today, gen20 drop from our zak run and we had no idea who looted it.

    Life would be boring without the occasional stolen gen 20 smega war.
    I'd vote for removing the meso drops out of those suggestions.

    I think removing meso bags from dropping is the best suggestion too.

    Seems like solution 2 was accepted recently in today's patch update

    Well, from the amount of time that elapsed since this suggestion, its more likely that its just a case of "great minds think alike" ;)

    The reason I'm necroing this thread tho, is that I'd like to suggest for zak to get the same treatment of removing meso from the drop table. It will greatly reduce the clutter of items that drop from him, and lower the chance of items flying to the corner of the map.

    the map is still to small to fit all things is much better with drops being posted in chat or user x looted x ( meso/pots.. can be ignored from this)

    when 1.5x was going on there was 2x5k nx from zakum 95% of the time and corners were full either with cs or gene was noway going to pub runs (even haveing buyer in corner was risky )

    I can understand your point for nostalgic reasons but nostalgia is different for everyone

    Nevertheless not everything in og maplestory was good/balanced and keeping some „bad“ things just cuz it was designed this way isn’t very clever.

    Also keep in mind that the drop rates here are higher then in og Maple Story causing more items to be dropped which causes more items in corners.

    i think the ideas of @LichWiz are worth considering
