Little time to reply all coment..but just a quick points. 1.Can someone confirm if nessi MM was equivalent to the other chars in krex dps comparision?...theres many ppl who have told me that an equivalent equiped MM would never lose in terms of dmg to a drk/hero 2.Theres many ppl saying that, yes mms are behind, but "not by that far"..and mms are underestimated...quick reminder..mms need SI to be "almost on pair" with bms....bms dont even need their own booster LOL P.D. Jobs that have a "brother job"(wich means that fullfil the same role) and are dependant on SI, should always be weaker/on pair withouth SI, and stronger with SI...but well..thats another story. 3. This is actually quite difficult to state for me. We have to use at least two points of View to look at this topic One should be the common sense and the other should be the metagame one. for common sense mm doesn't make any sense because it fulfills the same role at a higher cost and none extra benefits. Imean if u like xbows, hyper high dmg looks(snipe) or ure a masochist , then MM is fine But from the meta point of view any SE provider is really good..most boss runs are made around the SE. Despite it can be muled it seems that is quite unconfortable to mule a bm.. i have been in situations where even if a pt member haved a SE mule when a bm/mm appeared we said "come with us pls"..and the owner of SE mule actually sees relieved. For example: Buccaner is an amazing job to main rn.Now if i have yo choose between a mm or a bucc...idk..i think i would choose a mm. And im shure than a mm main would never be rejected of a boss run. 4. I love(and im not being sarcastic) whem new ideas comes form creative minds of our comunity..and also the "x"mule that always come from that. One day someone will come up with this tutorial: Step 1:Buy a lot of RP Step2: buy a pb chair or shinsoo Ok..now u have ur "looking good mule" Ill edit later...always that i write from my cell..it looks awfull..i know
MM are "better" grinders and BM are "better" bossers (perhaps arbitrary). End of the day I think it's mostly a flavor preference. You can boss on both and you can grind on both.
Because when u compare them in terms of what is more useful, MM is really no match... Even if u ignore the flat damage advantage BM is an afk class, u just tab out and enjoy attacking on 2 clients, you can literally leave hurricane open at bosses like BGA and enjoy perma-pin while u effortlessly attack on your other client. People who play MM are players who look for more engaging gameplay and not for the easy/multiclient route, thats about it.
I have a BM and I chose to play it over a Marksman even before I knew about the afkcane (semi-afk hurricane) feature I'll state why I chose to be a BM over a Marksman just for your reference: 1) I thought bows look so much cooler than crossbows 2) BMs deal more damage than MM at higher levels 3) Hurricane skill effect looks amazing 4) ... well there's no 4. To be honest, I didn't even bother what type of archer I became, as long as I have SE because at the end of the day, we're all nothing but SE mules. Get better gear? Sure, if you want to get whited faster I came to learn to love playing my BM over time because it doesn't require much attention but it's still very engaging at the same time. It strikes a nice balance for me as I tend to multitask while playing Maple.
Btw, i forgot to write why i ended up choosing MM. Stop distracting me @Geyforlife I'll start by saying that my point of view comes from a far different meta, because i play my MM as an ironman, but i believe some of the points still hold relevance to normal play. Still, i'm aware most of my reasons have nothing to do with what class is stronger, thats because i couldn't care less. I chose MM for the following reasons: 1) The concept of snipe was cool for me, being able to hit cap as early as the start of 4th job on anything is just rad 2) I had a specific look in mind which determined my class (yea i work ass-backward like that sometimes). I wanted to use the violin nx weapon, and discovered its used with xbow to make the character play the violin. I also got myself the RP violin later on and i love it 3) I find that MMs have far more going on in their kit. I like their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th job mobbing skills, and in bossing i need to be more alert (but not as much as normal MMs cause i cant max my snipe as an ironman lul) 4) Grinding in 4th job is just a blast! Frostprey carries you early game, and penentrating shot gives grinding a very unique twist of learning to charge your attack in the right timing and positioning yourself while doing so to be as efficient as possible. I also think that BMs look silly when they shuffle forward with their hurricane spam when they grind. 5) Scroll availability, xbow 30% is very easy to get a hold of, for me its for self scrolling, but for people who just want to buy an xbow it means its very cheap.
The other great advantage of Hurricane: Pinning monsters with damage like Big Foot, Pap, Female Yakuza Boss, Headless Horseman, Targa/Scarlion, Shao, and Samurai etc. Snipe and Strafe doesn't hit fast enough to pin some monsters.
Bowmater is much easier and more convenience to play with compare to marksman. Afterall, just pick whatever job you like and enjoy it.
MM was my first of two 200s on this server. I had a really fun time with it while it lasted. Pros: - Piercing Arrow does insane damage, each hit can break cap, which is just so cool to see in places like HT (clearing Darks). -Beginner friendly class, you dont need mega uber attack gear to do well enough. -You can actually see your cute character sprite during bosses lmao -You dont have to buy as many diamond arrows as BMs (pls do buy arrows, you dont have to be super funded as mentioned above, but do your part to make life easier for others) Cons: - Several months ago, someone decided that Snipe shouldnt hit through wep cancel anymore, still salty about that... IMO was the defining feature of MM and allowed us to somewhat stay relevant in DPM. -need constant focus in counting your strafes -require SI for maximum potential
b...b...but Erukz... SOUL ARROW... but yeah 1000% agree with the Piercing Arrow part, I used to really appreciate Marksmen helping me clear darks at HT when I was unable to clear them myself.
When you use soul arrow, your arrow att buff is removed. The range will still show the +4 att, but the actual damage will be +0 att from the arrows. I do wonder tho, why diamond arrows when you can buy the blue arrows from showa?
Fun Fact here, strafe skill of MM in MapleLegends shoots 5 arrows, IDK if it works at Royals as well. If so, that would be pretty cool and unique, but also improves the DPS of MM, make it comparable with BM while bossing.
Strafe is 4 shots in royals, same as it was in gms. But mm strafe in royals was buffed for 125% per arrow instead of 100%. Its a far weaker buff but at least we got something
Is it really far weaker?(actual question ,not judging) It wouldnt depend on the casting speed of the skill?
