With the new card collector buffs, is there any chance we can buff the card drop rate on these two mobs? I've killed roughly 60 D Roy's and have not looted a single card. Edit: Traductus created a comprehensive list of "rare" but non-boss monsters that I believe should have their monster card drop rates buffed a bit. I've killed roughly 100-130 D Roy's and haven't looted a single monster card. I camped a character in Homunscullo and in D Roy today. The respawn rate on both these monsters is identical to a low-tier area boss (2 hours and 24 minutes to 3 hours and 36 minutes). I see we've buffed drop rates on cards in the past shown here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/king-goblin-card.139798/
I collected a full stack of metal hearts from D roys back when i camped that area, without getting a single card, its a very painful cardset to collect. [at least i had more luck with homunscullo and managed to finish the set with around the same amount of kills] This issue is present with all cooldown based non-bosses mobs: Rombots, MT-09, lychanthropes, etc etc. When you are forced to cycle to cc and find just 1-3 mobs after each cycle, and sometimes, you can't continue the cycling because the respawn time is far longer than the time it took you to check and clear all 20 channels. These card sets are very frustrating, and feel more like a time gate than actual test of tanacity because even if you focus grind these mobs, you will need to wait for your next attempt (and maybe get that attempt taken away from you by other people who hunt it like you), all while these mobs have the same droprate to cards as normal mobs o-o... I believe that while they don't deserve a droprate buff as big as the goblin kings [these were locked behind quest items that took a day to replenish for just a handful of attempts], they might still deserve a droprate buff. Anywhere from 2x the droprate of normal mobs, to 5x, depending on the specific mob in question.
I so agree with increasing the drop rates of the rarer monster cards! As someone who has farmed practically every monster card in the game save for the high level bosses and the mobs from Neo Tokyo, these are the ones I would recommend having a increase in the card drop rate. A slight increase in the monster card drop rates for mobs that are just plain rare! Batoo Baby Typhon Jr. Lucidia Reindeer Dark Jr. Yeti Temple Block Monster A moderate increase for mobs that have a timed respawn of a few minutes! Werewolves Lycanthropes Tauromacis Taurospear Male Boss Crimson Tree Dark Yeti & Pepe And a big increase for mobs that are both rare AND have a long respawn! D.Roy Homunscullo Rombot Chief Grey MT09 Jr. Boogie Fierry That's my two cents.
I agree with the first two sections, however I disagree with grouping Jr. Boogie, Fierry and Chief Grey on the same spectrum as the other 4. I was able to finish Jr.Boogie in 2 hour of searching. I have yet to try Fierry, but I've finished Chief Grey on my other character without even trying.
Personally speaking having hunted a majority of these, I can see Werewolves, Lycanthropes, Male Boss, D-Roy, and Rombot a little bit deserving of a buff in my opinion. However you don't really need to complete these ones (replace them with area or PQ boss cards!) to get to Legendary. I don't want to buff all of the hard ones because there should be some challenge to it! (Speaking as someone who hunted for Jr Lucidia for 2 weeks in Orbis) Once you get around 350-370 sets you're forced to either hunt area bosses, PQ bosses, or go for the harder ones and personally I enjoyed the challenge even though I complained every step of the way!
Also make mob bosses that have 23~36 hr respawns have better card drop rate (looking at you Blue Mushmom) I think for a number of people, it's not really about wanting to complete them. Having just one card of the set for one of them can bring satisfaction and the difficulty of getting just one card makes people nope out.
Not necessarily. Some players like a challenge, and will go the extra mile just for that set because they obtained that 1 card. We can't make all of the drops easy to obtain, we need to have some difficult ones too.
Yup buff these two mobs and someone else will make another thread saying something like can we buff xxx mobs cause we've buffed drop rates on cards in the past bla bla bla and its gonna repeat until everyone here gets their "well-earned" medal. Just skip the two mobs if it's hard to get. It's not the end of the world if you skip them...
I thought you were never capable of saying something sensible that I agree with, but wow, I'm proven wrong The medal stats got BUFFED already, I really can't understand why OP/some people need it to be easier with buffing the drops of cards of monsters you don't even need for the medal, like Becca says: and if you wanna complete the ENTIRE monster book, then I don't think that should be easy in the first place, else it wouldn't even feel like an achievement/accomplishment. When the medal first came out (giving half of it's current hp compared to now, mind you), Thailand and Neo Tokyo were not even released yet, and the three king goblin's cards in Korean Folk Town were next to impossible. That's at least an extra 10 sets of cards which are not difficult to get. Yet (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't recall anyone requesting for it to be easier to obtain. Now that it's buffed, and already easier to get compared to when it was released, you want it to be...........easier? I'm sorry, I really don't understand. I mean, unless it's the intention of the Staff to want the medals to be easy to obtain then sure, buff the drops. Else, I disagree. Is one (1) card of the set really that hard to get though...? As someone who has the full card SET of every monster in Royals, I don't remember any monsters at all that were particularly problematic to get even one card of. A full set of five yes, but one? Hmm...
I applaud you for going for the personal achievement of attaining every single card set in the game. However, I am not a completionist who goes above and beyond like you do. When I play video games, I do a challenge to reach a certain point and then stop. In terms of MapleRoyals, once I was done with the Legendary Card set on my NL, I was done. I didn't really care that much about going after EVERY card set. When I did see just one card dropped, I picked it up just to have as a reminder that I at least got one of them. This is shared with other people who aren't looking to get collector medal or even people who are reaching a certain collector medal. Okay, some players doesn't equal all players. Some players can = less than 10 people. Also, no where in my post did I say we should make all drops easy to obtain.
We have a pretty big player base so I think your example of "some = 10 players" is far from true. If your goal is to hunt 1 card out of the 5, getting 1 card is easy compared to farming for the whole set for any monster in the book. You didn't say anything about making any drops easier to obtain, however that was the whole point of this thread so I addressed it in the same post, sorry.
I don't understand the argument for being against buffing these two mobs. D Roy has the same respawn timer as other area bosses, yet area bosses have a way higher card drop rate. No one said they need to be made easy. I do understand and agree with your argument about skipping them for the collector medal. I would however like to retract my statement on grouping Homunscullo with D Roy. Unless I was extremely lucky, I've been able to acquire 3 Homunscullo cards in roughly the same amount of kills as D Roy (about 200 now). D Roy I've still yet to obtain even one.
Ok so maybe English isn't your first language so i will help you to better interpret what i am trying to say. When someone makes a thread suggesting a buff for a certain monster and it gets approved or whatever, someone else in this community will then start another thread suggesting for another buff for a certain monster and to support the suggestion, the person will add links to previous buff threads like what you did. It will go on and on and on until every single player gets their "well-earned" medal! Since you agreed about skipping them for the medal, then honestly a buff isn't really necessary anymore.
@yaqzan Without any of your condescension on reading comprehension, I understood your initial post just fine. This is not a court of law - having a post approved about buffing card drop rates does not set a precedent for all future buff requests to be approved. I understand now thanks to @Tomfoolery 's post that things were different back then, namely the lesser availability of mobs without Thailand and Neo Tokyo, which certainly required the 3 King Goblins to be buffed. There will always be community and staff pushback against both good suggestions and bad suggestions, and I appreciate those of you who are adding meaningful feedback to the post. The root of my argument is to ask the question What determines the card drop rate of a monster? Is it the respawn time of the creature? Is it the number of readily available monsters? The answer is neither of those. The card drop rates are tuned by Royals as they see fit. They are not at all influenced by those two factors. This is proven by the respawn timer of D Roy vs. other 3 hour area bosses. What I am arguing for is that certain monsters in the game deserve to have their card rates buffed, even if they can be skipped for the medal. They will still be difficult to obtain.
