I have been doing the HP quest "Search for the Elixir of Life" on my bowman

    Edit:

I thought the quest was annoying and took a long time, however it seems like I had bad luck the first time around and had to collect items from very difficult enemies for a bowman to kill. Since then, I've been getting quests that are way easier and faster to complete.

I also noted that every quest gives +10 max HP and that it seems too little. It can give +20 max HP as well, but at the time of writing this feedback thread, it didn't work and I could only get +10, but it can give +20 now as intended.

After comments from both other players and GM's alike, I do think this quest is more worth it than I thought initially. However, it would still be nice if:

    - Quest level requirement was lowered just a bit
    - Maybe able to get slightly more? A +30 max HP potion perhaps

It should take around 10 minutes to farm the Typhon Eggs from Baby Typhons, they actually have the highest droprate of all the quest items, and one of the lowest item count requirements. It could be that you were unlucky, but I would love to hear from others who have gotten that quest to see if it needs adjusting.

The quests have tried to be balanced in a way where they should take around 30-45 minutes to do, shouldn't really be more than 1 hour, but if some seem to regularly be taking longer than 1 hour then we would like to hear about that. And that of course assumes players are using a fast travel ticket. We also tried to keep the items for each quest from around the same area of the game to reduce the amount of travelling needed.

If you do the quest every day you will be getting around 100HP per week, this means 2 and half months to gain an additional 1k.

This quest is not a replacement of HP washing, and is supposed to be an additional avenue for gaining any extra HP that a player may be missing. If players want to gain thousands upon thousands of HP from this quest then they can do that, but it will take a lot of dedication and time, and that is intended so that we don't end up having 30k HP becoming the norm any time soon.

We like to hear feedback about the quest and what people think, so thank you for that. And if there are others who have done the quest so far, please let us know your thoughts too.

Must be bad luck then yeah. I was there more than 10 mins without even a single egg in my inventory. I think it also has to do with the fact that my bowman is the only character I have that is very effective at single target damage, but extremely ineffective at multi target damage, so im basically forced to kill one mob at a time.

My other character is already above 20k hp and don't need this quest at all. My bowman needs this, but it's such a slow process that im already super lazy to do this after just a couple days, and im usually a completionist in this game. ^_^'

On a side note, HP pet scrolls is a great addition as well and probably more worth my time to pursue :)

I had typhon eggs on the first day, and as a bm without stance, I kept getting pushed off the map, which annoyed me to the point that I parked my bs at cwk just to door myself back lol

Granted, once I learned the spawn points for the baby typhons it was alot easier, but still took over 45 mins just to get the eggs cos theres only like 5 spawn points split across the map and the spawn is really irregular

Compared to the other sets that Ive done (temple block monster and birks), this one seems so much more troublesome (locked behind jq or tp rock and with a risk of falling of the map)

The HP gained per time invested isn't worth it. Coupled with it being once per day and locked until level 150, I don't see this being relevant at all, unfortunately.

For instance, a level 155 Bowman would have ~6k HP after doing ~40 washes on their natural MP. Even if they obtained Legendary Collector (+1k), did HP Quest (+500), and got HP from gear like MoN/BFC and the new pet scrolls (+500ish), they would be 2k short to do HT. Using the HP quest in its current form, it would take them over 6.5 months to make up that deficit. Even adding something like Black Belt (+300), it would still take 5 months.

In that time, you could easily have a geared 4th job mage to self leech and HP wash that extra 2k and then some, not to mention provide an income source and help expedite getting things like Legendary Collector and HP Quest in the first place.

I think some combination of increasing the HP gained (20-30), lowering the level requirement (I think 120 is more fair so people can actually do it on their way to bossing levels), or allowing it to be completed multiple times daily would make it viable. Adding a cap for how many times it can be turned in would be a simple solution to prevent players from easily reaching ultra high HP.

I agree with the sentiment of this post but an easier comparison is that it's a better use of time to simply make an HB mule.

On paper, yes, even easier than just HP washing. The problem is if that mule DCs, crashes, or dies, so do you. You are also still susceptible to dispel.

I think the quest ought to be more rewarding for those who are further away from common HP goals; for example, the reward could be somewhere around 40HP for those with less than 10k HP, and smaller for those who have more.

Collecting Typhon Eggs is about as fun as fighting Papa Pixie in dojo with no bishop in your party. I would advise doing away with the item altogether and replacing it with an item from Gryphons. Forcing ranged characters to fight in Path of Peril (probably the worst possible map for a ranged character) makes no sense when it's ranged characters that need the extra HP the most.

    +500 from HP quest
    +1000 from Legendary Collector
    +300 from MoN
    +120 from Bfc
    +300 from black belt
    +25 from scar helm
+400? from pet equips (probably can get much more than this if they try very hard)

There are also event items like Valentines/Halloween rings, Rudolph’s nose, and anniversary earrings that add up to a solid amount of extra hp (+345 if I did the math right)

Adding up the above gives almost 3k HP.

And of course, even at level 155 there’s still the option of leveling up to gain more hp, plus it is still not too late to invest in int gear to get additional washes.

Realistically, someone who realized they washed late will probably have started investing in int gears to catch up much before 155, so the gap is really smaller than you are describing here

The above figures added give a total 2,645 HP (assuming one can scroll 400 HP of pet equips, haven't seen the scrolls yet or know their rarity so unsure how difficult this is). The event equips do give some minor HP, but they are not always available and require a full year of active playing to obtain all of them, and some of them aren't even BiS items. Even so, having all of those leaves your average ranged character at ~9k HP at 155. You would need to do the daily HP quest every single day for nearly 3.5 months to close the gap and be able to just HT, not even taking into account Shao, Toad, or Neo Tokyo content. Of course one can still just wash with INT, but I was taking the perspective that this is an alternative rather than something you do in tandem with traditional HP washing.

That being said, I believe my argument still stands that this will have little to no impact in its current form and is not worth the time invested, even with these revised figures. I think the staff is definitely moving in the right direction, and this is still a nice addition for those who do not want to make a mage and follow the meta route to gain additional HP, but in the end making a mage and washing normally is far more efficient than this for multiple reasons.

I completely agree that the reward for the time invested is bad, in other words, I believe, it will be better for one to invest their time making money for 30 minutes and then to use that money to wash which will end up giving more hp than the quest, but understanding that this should not be a replacement for hp washing is important, the impact of this quest being easy will decrease the value of aprs and also will devalue all the hard work players have put into hp washing before this was released, I did welcome the hp changes(including pet equips and medals) but something in me still is scared that even those 10 hp a day is enough to devalue some of the hard work of any hp washer, in my eyes it is a delicate line that should be treated carefully.
I really hope that this will not get buffed because I believe it should be targetted only towards players that can not wash anymore.

If there is any change I want to point out, I think it is making the quest a bit easier.

In the end of the day, you would complete the quest, and we have a cap of 10-20 HP a day already.

By either increasing drop rate, lower the number of quest items to collect, or change the monsters to ones with more spawn rate, the quest is more enjoyable and worth the time investment.

Do not make any change to the amount of HP, not only it screws the people who have already washed HP, makes HB useless and collapses the economy, but it also hurts who did the New HP quest before.

I think new hp quest is a new way to gain hp already. And 30-40mins is ok for ppl who start wash too late

even if quest was made to just give +10maxHP or rare & random +20maxHP just by going to hiden room in magiata it will still take year to get +3-4kHP and thats allready good time gate-limit for unwashed players that just aim for 13k HP goal (9-10k as unwashed + 3/4k from this quest)
also jobs that don't favour mobing find it extreme hard and time consume to do this 3 rare etc quests under 40min

i don't see reason to do it daily for 40min +- for a year when we can continue ignore some of the content as unwashed (or that can also be done with HB mule if we want to do it that much and put that 40min ~ of the day to PQ,boss with friends or farm some meso/items)
like i said before am down to do the quest for a year to get +3-4k maxHP if quest takes 5-10min at most each day

I absolutely love this new HP quest. I think it is brilliant. I am so happy how you guys found a way to implement this mechanic by actually involving maple world.

I think it is amzing to have yet another reason to travel these lesser travelled places also known as every non-bossing map in the game LOL. It is also pretty cool, that there is new etc just for that, thumbs up for all that effort.

I also think, you guys found a great way, to add something to the game that doesnt make HP washing obsolete (since there is feedback where long term players were extorting you with permanent rage-quitt in case of HP washing becoming obsolete).

I understand that a lot of players are upset with the little amount of +10HP per complete run. Maybe indeed going up to 20 could feel more rewarding for them. But on the other hand, would it, though? It feels a bit to me, that no matter what you guys will do besides handing out free HP, people will complain. Especially if it involves grinding. Maybe there is a middle ground though ... If you think about it 10 days is 100 HP now. 10 days would 200 HP otherwise ... Not a big deal to be honest ... I dont know, maybe increasing the amount would not hurt.

But also think about other rewards in the game. For instance love struck slime rewards players with an amazing ring, that also adds HP, I think +150. It takes 20 kills which is an equivalent of at least 5 days of constant playing, so the HP quest is not way off compared to a lot of other rewards.

I would not make it easier or faster though, rather increase the amount of HP. Because, otherwise this would feel just like a random, daily, annoying thing which is mostly traveling around. Now, you have to grind a bit as well not just use TP rocks, which is actually immersive gameplay. So its really well done. Maybe adjust some drops that are hard to farm or rarely dropped ...

I also think, it depends on how you understand this quest's role. If it is meant to be an option for someone that otherwise would not have an option at all, like I understood it, I think in this case, it is simply brilliant. Since it gives you hope again and a reason to play, which is a really good thing. Of course, if you just see it as an equal alternative to HP washing and your main source of getting insane amounts of HP, it is a bit lacking.

    My personal situation:
For my BM (which actually started mp washing at around lv184 :D), this quest changed the world. I earned 30 HP so far and it actually made the difference, so that I can now shao the first time without HB. I actually do hate this shao thematic anyway since I would prefer to have less mule play and more active play, but since this is the situation at the moment, and I cannot change it -> the HP quest actually really helped and made an extremely BIG difference for me. Such as not being able to shao anymore vs. being able to shao again.
I just wanted to add this feedback since it is a little different, however, it might be just useless anyway, since it differs quite a lot from the usual opinion of most other players.

TLDR: This HP quest is absolutely amazing, maybe inrease the amount of HP if you want to make the game easier. But please be careful by adding to much effortless rewards to the server ...

Im glad this quest helped you out and I see your points :)
For me personally, I'm at a point where my character either don't need more HP at all, or need a lot more HP to be able to participate at higher level bosses. I did not expect this quest to replace washing or anything of the sort, but the problem I have with it is that it gives so little and takes such a long time to get a decent amount of HP from it, that during this that time my Bowman could very well have black dojo belt, legendary collector medal, and be level 200 by the time this quest actually helps, and at that point I don't think I really need this quest anymore.

This quest, at best, is a minor assistance, say for example if I want to hunt cards, I might as well hunt for cards at mobs I have to kill for this HP quest. But to be able to boss I still need hp pet scrolls, good medal, belt, and hp gear to go to any end game bosses, and that is despite washing my bowman as well. Basically, there are no rooms for "decent" gear, I need to max out every possible thing, despite this quest now being in the game. Unless I want to do this for half a year, but as I said, if I have to wait that long I probably wont need this quest anymore anyhow.

I agree it shouldn't be too rewarding and replace aiming for good hp gear and stuff like that, but I also feel like 10 hp is too little. Increase it a little bit would be nice, and maybe this quest could be lowered a bit as well as Urban mentioned, to 120 or what ever :)

I've done the baby typhoon quest yesterday, took me almost an hour on my bucc.
For now, that quest didn't feel longer than the other ones i did, but its because im a bucc. I would 100% forfeit it if i was a range class, and just waited another day.

I have a few small suggestions for this questline:
    1) we are expected to do this questline for months to get to our goals, so i'm worried that only 6 quests will get old quickly, it would be nice to have just a few more quests so that we'd have more variety. It could be cool if you'd add one or two more quests each update, to keep things fresh (until you run out of logical combinations). You can also reuse certain mobs in some quests to create new combinations, and just tweak the amount needed to create a balanced quest.

    2) when i heard there's a small chance for 20 hp potions, the turn in became slightly more exciting. I think you guys can lean into that more, and add 30, 40, and 50 hp potions, with respectively more rare droprate from the quest, this creates far more exciting moments than the current reward. (and also slightly increase the chance for 20, so that both 10 and 20 will be the common ones).
Many here suggest buffs for the reward, but i think a flat buff would keep the quest uninteresting. Its similar to doing dojo, you are racking points, and you know for a fact that you'll get a better belt, but its still a pain in the arse.

    3) a suggestion for the NLC quest package, replace the eggs with the normal typhoons. That way, we'd still be forced to go to that tough map, but then at least range class will be able to snipe the mobs from the safe spot in the center. (and change droprate accordingly if its too easy).

Hai shira. I did the baby typhons too.
It was pretty shit but the drop rate was pretty decent. I brought in 1 of my mages to help clear the normal typhons since tat doesnt count towards the quest. It made it significantly faster since my nl only has 2.8k range n no se :'(

I agree the efficiency of the quest is very low compared to grinding for APRs, but I think that’s the point. I’m not sure if this is supposed to introduce an alternative play style starting from zero. My understanding is that it gives an alternative to players who are high level but have already hit their minimum mp threshold.

    Thanks.

Of course, your side of the coin has to be considered as well.

I think the suggestion to lower the lvls could be a middle ground as well - maybe a long with some slight increase of the reward .... (?)

Hopefully a nice middle ground will be found in future patches so that as many people as possible can be satisfied about this way of getting additional HP.

@LichWiz This might actually work. Or maybe increase the probability of getting (or straight rewarding it) a 50hp pot, when you hand in the quest for a period of maybe 10 days or 14 days?
