People (like me) sometimes forget to change the auto pot settings when they switch between characters. I've noticed that the settings currently save based on how they were set on the last game client you had opened (and have then closed). I think it would be nice to have unique settings saved on each character. I don't know if this is possible to do (let me know if it isn't), and I know it isn't really much of a concern to some people, but I think it would be a very cool quality of life upgrade. For example, some characters may have lower HP than others, even with moderate washing (example thief/bowman < warrior), and they would require higher alert HP settings that you may forget to set before a boss run. This is also a concern with mules! I am aware that mule play is something that the community is trying to limit because it isn't really nostalgic, but auto HP/MP in general wasn't really nostalgic anyways. An even more relatable example would be MAGES! Mages heavily depend on having sufficient MP to stay alive and switching from an attacker class, on which I would usually set MP alert near minimum to save pots, to your mage could mean certain death! Just a few days ago, I logged onto my bishop at skeles and it was a free map! So I buffed up (magic guard/mw/hs) and casted genesis a couple times. But then I was dead because my first instinct was to claim the map and not raise my Alert MP from minimum . I don't know if it's just me, but I would love to hear other people's opinions on this!
Setting setup is a config file that is stored somewhere on your pc, i dont think that they can easily make that setting file sit on their server, or be controlled by what character you opened (I.E. A seperate file for each character you open on your client). The settings of the game need to be loaded as soon as the client opens (to know if it should go full screen, and at what volume to play the music and sound effects), which is before selecting a character. I'll make a guess and say that the settings system is too hard baked into the code for them to be able to easily fix, especially for what its worth. (which is a shame, cause i tend to forget to change these settings as well)
Yeaa I knew it wouldn't be an easy change to make, but I think it's an idea worth getting out there for the future. It may not be of any major importance right now, especially with all the other things the GMs are focusing on. And I don't know much about coding, but even if there isn't a simple work around for this, I can see many people benefiting off this feature in one way or another
The HP MP alert setting could be even saved across different servers also. So I think it is an inherent thing of the game. But yeah, if we can fix this, it would be a nice QoL improvement.
