Um, jesus... LOL. As for Tako's ban I personally think she should submit a forum ban appeal. As for the state of how GIOYC operates, I'm also personally inclined to agree with the community that the whole point is to... get it off your chest. But at the same time let's be real, that thread really can be a seedbed for passive-aggressive toxicity leading to flame wars which is why we make an effort to moderate it to a certain extent. Which is also why other posts that were deleted very recently--including the one above--were done so because they specifically broke the rules of that thread (i.e. quoting another player). For what it's worth, as a Forum Moderator I can empathize with everyone. I feel just as frustrated when cases like this arise and show how inconsistent forum rule enforcement can be. If y'all knew me from years back then y'all know I was very outspoken about this exact kind of thing lol. After we take a look through the Game Terms & Conditions I do think the Forum Rules & Regulations definitely needs a second read-over as well, and I personally have a lot of ideas about things that should be changed.

Also, why do I always have to deal with this shit when it's late and I'm trying to sleep?

Apparently we can report this for
    • Posting rude, offensive, hurtful or otherwise negative comments in a thread
because I find it rude, offensive, hurtful and negative that you're referring to this entire feedback thread as "this shit".

No, I'm kidding. But no, I think this thread presents a very real problem in that Matt has decided to police a post from a player in a ranting thread that he gets vibes of it being targeted towards him in a negative manner.

Yes, she has every right to post a forum ban appeal. I'm not convinced it will go very far though given what has transpired in this thread.

maybe i’m being crude but the only logical explanation i can see for Matt himself (and not the Forum Mods as we’d usually expect) acting on this specific post, is probably that he took it personally because there is indeed (in the OP’s words) someone sitting on his face and hence making him blind. then again, only he knows (and no one else wants to really)

that being said, this is a pretty good example of the elephant in the room and a larger problem: perpetual Staff inconsistency and double-standards in general, especially when a certain individual is presumably involved

it’d definitely be nice to have some concrete clarification why this post in particular was singled out (no less by the server owner himself), whereas quite literally hundreds of other posts have never been. shouldn’t all of these posts be allocated the same amount of WP, no doubt in retrospect, then?

    Hi all,

I've been uncharacteristically quiet. I'm just piping in to mention we have decided to clean up the thread, deleted some posts, and unbanned @Tako Yuet as their ban is no longer consistent with similar rulings (we all know how much you guys love consistency).

Thank you for the feedback- and from one forum junkie to another, I want to assure you this will be an ongoing discussion in Staff, and I hope this doesn't happen again in the future.

    Love, Evan

edit: Read the rules guys, we will be deleting posts in GIOYC if you guys don't follow the thread rules. It's like 3 sentences, so go on. You know you want to.

I became a forum mod because I know the forums inside out, I read just about everything, and I remember things well.

I disagree with removing my first post.

Why can I not rant about a gm creating the first ever drama in our guild, and breaking everyone's trust without giving my honest opinion about it?

My post was removed due to potentially "targeting" people.

Now here I present to you the logical use of get it off your chest, that you chose to ignore due to the little staff icon next to their name.
I don't care if the dude hacked, rwted, hell even if he ddosed the server. You can't just go around making a get if off your chest post every time you deal with an appeal and act like it wasn't aimed at the person appealing.
Does a person lose your respect once he appeals? Why do you target him for likes, especially after he quit/banned? Wasn't banning him enough to satisfy you?

Why are gms allowed to "target" people, but we are not allowed to express our feelings when it comes to staff?
How am I supposed to voice my opinion on staff if you guys remove everything that disagrees with your actions?
You made a mistake, in my eyes. I would like to get it off my chest and move on. Why do I need to fight to voice my opinion?

You guys have to figure out whether you monitor everything in that thread, or don't monitor at all. Selective reading while ignoring staff members is absoultely bullshit and unacceptable.

GIOYC is a thread within a forum, the rules of the thread are merely etiquette.
Therefore, issuing warning points on breaking these rules alone makes no sense. Someone who breaks the etiquette should have his post deleted (and maybe issue warning points for someone spaming and reposting the thing that got deleted because at that point its harassment).

But, if a gm or forum mod sees a violation of the forum rules, then by all means its ok to issue warning points, GIOYC is not a rule-free haven.

Thats my take on it, some warning points in this case were givin fairly, but some i might say were a little too trigger happy with the actual warning points. If the only violation was the etiquette then i think deleting the post and PMing the person to avoid breaking the etiquette next time would be the better way to go at it.

    Bump.

Looking for some updates from @Matt on what would be the standard procedure from now on when it comes to dealing with posts in GIOYC.

Still hoping to get some answers on what you think can be improved in terms of thread rules, and how will the rules (thread and forum as a whole) be enforced.
