Hello everyone and the royal team, I would like to suggest an automatic lightbulb for accepting and completing the HP quest. This saves a lot of time as players is already travelling around maple world to kill mobs for the quest. By having an automatic lightbulb for accepting and completing the HP quests, it improves the quality of life for players in the long term. I would love to hear about the HP quest experience from other royalers and their thoughts on this matter. I hope the royal team can take this as a consideration. Thank you, Al3x
I agree that enabling players to accept and hand in this quest via Lightbulb will be a great QoL improvement, as we're already traveling to 3 regions in order to collect the ETC from mobs
I recall some earlier feedback about moving Reuel to main towns, but I can't find it by searching. I can see how people who are eligible to do it "unlimited" per day (under the HP threshold) and those with multiple characters would be bothered. When I did HP quest after the threshold was introduced, walking back to Magatia was quite annoying (to the point of my using up all my warp powders from questing to save seconds of walking .) I don't see any particular issue with it being a lightbulb quest.
It's very annoying to travel back and forth, especially when you continuously get Leafre quests. I support this lightbulb quest idea.
Making the quest obtainable via the lightbulb would make a great QoL change for those who plan to reach a certain high HP goal with this quest. Maybe in order to make this feature a little bit more challenging to get, in order to get the lightbulb feature to work a certain amount of quest completions should be reached; For example after completing 50 "regular" quests the lightbulb feature will be unlocked. Another suggestion is to consider a trade-off between making the quest more accessible and its completion difficulty.
would be nice to have the quest taken from evrywhere but i think is kinda fair tradeoff to have it as it is if etc drop rate gets buffed a bit more again like if use FTT+TP rocks quest should take 15-20min from start to finish tho the recent change 20-50 is good buff (i just got to 13.9k from 12.7k after this change thanks to "unlimited" quest with avg of 32hp & 30min per quest and my quest on sair turned to daily when HP in AP window turned 11185) edit 30min avg with TP rocks straight to nearby maps and FTT for quest location like CBD/NLC
Thank you everyone for sharing their experiences and thoughts on this matter. I believe making the quest more accessible via lightbulb encourages players to do the HP quest which is what the server wants as it is striving for the title HP washing is optional. This benefits all range of players from new to veteran players.
I personally wouldn't like this idea because the trade off was supposed to be the time and effort for a chance to gain 10/20 HP at the time (now buffed to a chance to receive 20-50hp per completion) having that enabled would make this even easier than what it is now that the buff is in place. I've gotten two characters now maxed out on the unlimited version and I didn't mind the walking distance too much. If it was too far away I would use VIP rocks because most of the quests give you a good chunk of mesos (6-ish mil) per hand-in. I can see having the lightbulb to start the quest, but to hand in you would have to travel to Magatia. Also having it complete the quest as well would miss the point entirely, I think.
The story of the quest is that Reuel is making potions for us, not Wizet talking to us through a magical lightbulb. I would prefer that aspect of the quest to remain the same. EDIT: Now that I think about it, you can put other NPCs into the lightbulb dialogue, but what exactly is the mechanic Reuel using to telepathically communicate with you? I would like to see warp powders between Ariant and Magatia be more easily obtainable so I don't have to walk to the camel taxi from the Orbis ferry. Is there a repeatable quest that lets us get more, like the Orbis Tower Scrolls?
I agree with Becca, now you get good amounts of HP faster, even now I'm doing it with my begginger and that doesn't have much damage
I believe the Reuel HP quest does not get easier as travelling and killing mobs is still involved. Another way of thinking is the question “how can royals make it accessible to all players and encourage the approach of HP washing is optional”. In regards to the concern of reading the storyline, there can be an adjustment where the lightbulb becomes automatic after first turn in so people that enjoy the storyline can do that. *Side notes, If the adjustment is not possible, the players still have a choice of walking to Magatia to start/complete the quest or whoever wish to read the storyline despite there is an automatic lightbulb.
Nothing likes getting the NLC city questline that makes me burn calories even with Fast Pass - going from Ariant is like traveling across the world lol
Imo, i think this quest should only be available for accepting via the lightbolb, but not for turning in. As part of the time gate keeping design of the quest, and for the consistency of the idea that we give him the materials to make the potion, we should still need to visit magatia. But what i find annoying is going there just to accept the quest, only to be sent to the other side of the map, and back. This is more relevant to players that has gone past the threshold, or those that want to cycle through the annoying quests on the list by retaking the quest the next day.
In Update 78, Reuel's quest can now be accepted via lightbulb. However, you must travel to Reuel to hand in the quest.
I know this change has been awhile but for transparency, is there an explanation of why the quest can be accepted via lightbulb but not for completion? Thanks!
I don't know if that's what the general consensus was among everyone in Staff, but my decision to vote for only the acceptation be hand-in instead of completion was because it would've been pretty op. We've already: -bumped it from level 150 down to 120 -bumped it from from 10-20HP per quest to 20-50HP per quest -we've given accepting the quest a lightbulb The HP Quest was supposed to be time:hp instead of mesos/voting:hp and if it was given a hand-in via lightbulb then it would essentially be log-in accept quest to get hp, accept hand-in completion, log out. Adding it to the lightbulb also brought more awareness to the quest we had to offer because quite a few players still didn't know about it despite being out for over a year.
Sure, I'd be glad to provide some transparency from my end as well. Other than what Becca has said (both personal and objective), It doesn't make sense to hand in items over a lightbulb. I can accept telepathic communication via lightbulb, however I'll refer to ASOBOU's and LichWiz's responses. The implemented change, which is half of what was asked for (acceptance through lightbulb, traveling to Reuel to hand in the items) accomplishes the problem you set out to solve with this suggestion, did it not? The quest is more accessible, and more players will become aware of the quest. Allowing us to hand in the quest via light bulb is indulging convenience a bit much, or rather, a min maxing mentality; it does not set out to solve any particular issue other than minimizing time for maximum gain. I'll repeat what has been said before: there is a time:hp ratio in mind for this quest. Requiring players to walk in to hand in their quest items is an easy, and reasonable (given the previous points) way to pad that requirement, while also keeping some game integrity. Some quests are very quick, others are slightly longer. However, there is a baseline that should be maintained, and there is currently no interest in further lowering that baseline. Fast travel tickets are very cheap, especially when you realize that they will pay for themselves with the equips you can NPC after like... 4 quests. So travel shouldn't really be an issue. In other news... I don't think it's necessarily op to have the hand in also be via light bulb; it just doesn't make sense to me from a story perspective. The current implementation is a very nice compromise between all groups that voiced their opinions on this, players and staff alike, which is something so rare to see. As a player, I'm happy to see how this HP quest turned out as a whole, especially to how it used to be. I used to hate it (seriously, I despised it), especially when it was 10-20HP per quest, but now it's pleasant enough that I feel motivated to do it once a day.
