I suggest changing the skill 'Energy Orb' (4th job Buccaneer skill). Since you can use it only when the energy is fully is charged, I think it should do higher damage than 'Dragon Strike'. I suggest at level 30 (max) - damage 1000% at least. Also, I think the attack animation is way too slow, and the range of attack is too short. I suggest animation should be faster, and more attack range (Same as 'Dragon Strike' at least). With all of these changes this skill should be more useful, gives you more reasons to use it instead of 'Dragon Strike' (when charged). I know it is not much of a big deal, but will be nice to make useless skills more useful.
Personally I feel like it shouldn't be buffed because Bucc already has so many viable skills/combos to use and it is such a diverse job. If you make it stronger than DS it basically does nothing except make Bucc just a little bit stronger (which is not necessary IMO) and doesn't change much in terms of how Bucc plays. Energy Orb is not a useless skill, and I do find myself using it to clear wyverns in HT (bounces down from the heads) and it's also useful to farm certain maps (for HT preqs and HP quest for example) because you can use it while jumping unlike all other 4th job skills. What I do support is making it not require Energy Charge to use, since it won't break any balance.
I would say people still pretty much count this skill as useless. Problem is - you need to be almost at a punching distance to make it work. Even if you jump towards the mob it won't work most of the times. The problem is mainly the range of attack imo.
i agree with all the for/against points brought up in the thread, but because e. orb is a conditional skill, needing full energy, and 30 points to make the most of it, somewhere in 4th, instead of ds, which is unconditional and an essential bucc skill that can be spammed, that some small tweaks to orb, such as just a bit more range, wouldnt be much to ask for. but because buccs are already so well equipped and powerful as said, it feels like overkill on paper
i think i suggested somewhere in the past to make that skill hold more utility instead of damage. Buccs 2nd and 3rd skills had a lot of things regarding stun (passive that lets you crit on stunned enemies and 3 stunning skills) , so i always found it weird that 4th job discarded this utility completely. To make that skill useful, yet not op, it would be nice if it had a lower damage, but stunned enemies, and stun duration scaled with the level of the skill. that way you have a special stunning ability only for bubble duration, and with a stun that only really makes a difference with a high enough skill lvl. it won't make bucc's bossing any better, but it'll open more combos and tools against normal enemies
Agree this could make it more useful. Right now I don't find much of a reason to use Orb instead of DS. The only reason you'll use it is when you jump, but then again I find that you need to be really close to make it hit so...
