Spoiler: Event Details I wanted to start a general feedback on this event (and sort of on the trend of recent events) since I haven't seen an official feedback post yet. My personal opinion on some of them. Cake Boss Maple Tree Party Quest and The Golden Mushroom Don't have much to say about these because they haven't changed and I feel they still work really well. I enjoy cake boss every year and there's a good amount of incentive to do it (especially for the medal and coupon). It's always served as a nice way for the community to get together and interact a bit.. The PQ is IMO one of the most well put together custom content yet. Golden Mushroom generally sparks a lot of friendly competition and it's definitely something that people look forward to every year. I do wish there were some protection for those who find the mushroom first and claim mapowner while they bring a taunt/steal character. Glorious Maple Tree I'm very satisfied with the changes made to the Maple Tree and I'm grateful that the Staff took player feedback into consideration for this. It seems like players are also happier and are actually working together to get the tree exploding. Definitely feels like a wholesome part of the event now! Festive Agility Challenge The JQ is very well put together, but I wish there was a bit more of an incentive to do these JQs. I think a good idea would be to have an annual leaderboard with prizes for the fastest runs (linked by account so that one person can't claim all prizes). Anniversary Coin Update I'm really not a fan of these main events becoming more and more beneficial to farmers. It happened with Christmas dropping boxes for nx, then the large buff to red envelope drop rates in LNY, and now in this event with boxes that gave a chance at CS/WS. The CS/WS chance is honestly where I would draw the line. Seeing the hundreds of smegas of people winning scrolls would give me and others constant FOMO. It became apparent that any other way of earning mesos was inferior. These boxes just further widened the gap between farmers and bossers, which to me seems like they're doing more harm than good. Tons of people avoided party content altogether just to solo farm on their free time. We were getting 1500+ characters online at a time, but the server felt emptier than before considering how many were just out farming. It would feel much nicer if boss rewards were also scaled with these events, or if there was some other incentive to promote bossing to be more in line. It's not surprising that bossing was rarer as there wasn't any direct benefit to it. The price inflation of books hardly makes up for the gap at all. Also why were there coin mobs for all other bosses besides HT (not that it mattered so much)? The rate of cs/ws also seemed very absurd considering how farmable the boxes are. You can say your personal rate of CS/WS was low, but how often do you see people gacha 3+ CS/WS in a row? It seemed to happen multiple times a day from boxes, but I will concede if data proves otherwise. You can argue it brings players back to the game, but does it really retain them? Many just end up going on hiatus until next farming event. These events probably feel great to the casual players and constant farmers, but for me who prefers to spend my time doing content in groups, I feel more left out. It's just my opinion and I don't speak for everyone else. Anyways would love to see other feedback . Thank you!
Tradeable candles. At the end of the event, we collect 100+ coins remaining in each char, which cant trade for anything useful. Last year, the candles could be consolidated to purchase one sweet item. Not sure what was the idea but people with less time would really love the tradeable candles.
I agree with everything you said besides the point about the box drop rate and chances of winning cs/ws. In order to boss in the first place, you need to have a lot of funding and a washed player, which for many beginning players, is not feasible until a few months of playing the game. In the past, there were copious amounts of opportunities to have money (ULU farming, Red envelopes, Petri leech, etc) that players in the past had access to in order to fund themselves faster and easier.
Cake Boss Maple Tree Party Quest and The Golden Mushroom cake boss rewards needs to be updated hype was mostly dead after medal requirements fulfilled (my hope for next year ? : more/better rewards for players that do more then 10 cakes and increase accordingly reset the hit count to 0 if player don't hit for 5/10sec (150 hit counters and afk or do abuse/glitch with mule on other ch) MaplePartyQuest best design and good rewards was nice to see that there is attempt to put PQ with different jobs as "requirement" and open for everyone Glorious Maple Tree i only did tree just to finish the medal (sometime it was nice to catch the tree while wait for boss friends in towns to kill time in it ) i think suns should requirement to enter along side with ticket top 100 donators should get some kind of reward according to their position like some kind of nx item saying top 3 top 10 top 100 donor + nx or rp for top 3 Festive Agility Challenge the JQ map should change and reward update Anniversary Coin Update this... the gap you said is sad naked multimage mule farmers becoming huge thing over multiplayer pqrs/bossers or even funded mage famer/grinders is very sad for both new players that want to join the game and play with other and old players that want to play content with other why solo main mages or other ulti full map job skill has to deal with lower rate on event drops then other ? why make untradeble coins ? what balance? the multi mage mule farmers has dedicated looter the gold coins spawn & box drop was ninja nerfed from v1/shao/pap/elin towards the end of event this is still in my opinion bigest reason or top 2-3 reason for players to chose other server or MMO-rpg game (am not saying that RWT'rs and hackers don't contribute to the issue, other server/games deals with rwtrs/hackers aswell but still maintain their population and gameplay ) oh well the votes was for it and for us to get used or quit/go semi activ so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you! I see what you mean in that it does help the new player-base raise funds for high-level content, but I don't feel like this is the way to do it. Mage farming was (and still is) the superior method for income over bossing. There's already an incentive for farming in general, which is that it's stable and immediate income. Drops such as these boxes have just widened that gap even further. End-game content becomes less enticing during these events as players simply choose to go farming/leeching for mesos instead. I personally would be more open to other ways of making income that isn't just a direct buff to farming (maybe a new event questline, challenges, or buffs to pqs). Farmers will continue to be farmers and that's completely okay, but we should at least add content that puts all other methods more in-line for similar effort.
Thank you! I want to reiterate that I personally don't have anything against multi-mage farmers. I just feel that the end-game content we have now is far too unrewarding compared to farming. There's not really anything wrong with events benefitting farming as it is part of the game, but these events haven't been equally benefitting the other forms of income we have.
Cake Boss, Maple Tree Party Quest, and The Golden Mushroom Cake boss seems like it's in a good spot. It's rewarding, slightly engaging, and good for the community to come together. I would make no changes to this content. Maple tree party quest is well made, simple to complete, and rewarding. It's a great source of maple weapons and potions for newer players, while also getting veterans to join for maple leafs. I would make no changes to this content. The golden mushroom is usually what I look forward to the most during this event (as well as Halloween's mysterious white lady). This event definitely favors high mobility classes, in particular Night Lords, so it feels a bit weird when they also have a skill that grants +40% drop on top of their other benefits. I think it would be a bit more fair to other classes if the golden mushroom was a bit more even in terms of drops, removing the ability to taunt/steal or equalizing the droprate so that other classes receive the same rewards. After finding a few, I would still receive whispers asking what it drops - I don't think its a secret anymore that it can drop white scrolls, chaos scrolls, event scrolls, and 5k nx cards. I think it would help get more players involved if the event banner was a bit more direct with what it can drop. Glorious Maple Tree Seems like the concerns from last year were addressed. I noticed the tree continuously popping throughout the day, anyone wishing to participate had ample time and the frequency felt just right. I would make no changes to this content. Festive Agility Challenge I am awful at jump quests so I didn't participate in the agility challenge at all, so I have no feedback for this content. Anniversary Coin Update This one is interesting, I think there are good arguments you can make to support both sides. Full disclosure, I farmed nearly the entire event with multiple mages so I certainly am a bit biased here. I'm not sure how I feel about the boxes. On one hand it definitely felt too strong at at times, but on the other hand a lot of new players were able to make significant gains for their character due to a lucky cs/ws from a box. A good amount of entry to mid level gear rose in value, as well as HT books (and other low level books too) due to players being able to afford them. This increase in demand does translate to more profit for bossers, as well as an increase in HTP buyers which can really help when a run is dry. I think if I were to make any changes it would probably be to decrease the average payout from boxes. Adding in 100NX & 250NX cards to lower the NX payout is probably justified and lowering the CS/WS droprate should be considered. I personally like the randomness of receiving a high ticket item out of boxes, it makes it fun to participate in the event when you're not interested in exp
I thought the event was great overall, but I noticed something interesting in these feedback comments. It seems like many people felt the droprate of CS/WS from boxes was very high, yet the price of CS/WS barely dropped during the event. It went from maybe 525m to maybe 505m (referenced from https://royals.ms/forum/threads/white-scroll-chaos-scroll-price-observation-log.203684/) which is about a 4% drop in price. If there really was a significant increase in supply of CS/WS, shouldn't there be a much larger change in price? As a relatively casual player myself (I only do mid-game bosses up to Krex and Zak, and do not have any 4th job mages) I didn't make that much money from the event. I got two WS from boxes, which is about 1/3 of what I made from regular NX gacha in the same timeframe. So I'm not sure if I agree that the boxes drop too many CS/WS. My theory is that while everybody has boxes, not everybody gacha's. But all boxes get announcements. So I feel it's possible that though CS/WS from boxes was very visible, it might not actually be overtuned.
At this point, anni event was refined to a point that leaves very little need to apply changes. the only event that still feels left behind is the Festive Agility Challenge. While other content were adjusted with time, the jumpquest rewards remained the same this year as well. Even when i run it with good times without falling more than once or twice, the resulting rewards feel insulting and outdated. If an ironman like me can earn more coins from grind and bosses in the same amount of time it takes a JQ clear (which is only once a day), i can't imagine how much worse it is for normal players. Also, sunshine is no longer a reward anybody would want. maybe it should be replaced with a tree event ticket for 12 hours.
Sorry if it is a bit vague , Cake Boss Maple Tree Party Quest and The Golden Mushroom I don't think i've went on any of the cake boss this year The Maple Tree PQ , I didn't participate neither but people really seemed to enjoy it Glorious Maple Tree Was a nice upgrade from last year and was flexible for everyone as there was one ready to explode every 10mins or less I don't recall if there was a ranking feature for it for last year but if not then it was a good thing to add it aswell Festive Agility Challenge not the best at jump quests so I didn't participate in any of them Anniversary Coin Update I honestly liked the new boxes thing and the 1.25x(?) during the weekends along with the past few farming events , as someone who spends alot of times farming , who wouldn't? It actually made it fun to just collect boxes n open them after x amount But yeah I agree with the fact that some tends to just go on hiatus until next farming event as I personally felt less motivated to log or do anything ( that's my issue, not the game so don't get me wrong) I do understands your perspective tho. Was a fun event either way
I don't really have anything to add for Cake boss/Golden Mushroom/Festive Agility Challenge since my thoughts are already mentioned by multiple people. Glorious Maple Tree Like everyone else has said for Maple Tree, the turnout was quite nice and engaging. My only concern with this was with sunshines and their uses, other than just donating. Other than just donating it to the tree, there really was no use for them and personally, I felt that these were just overflowing until a few people decide to mass buy them for the sake of rankings. I just wish that there was a bit more value coming out of these sunshines rather than just donating them, but this point is up for debate, as it does provide more engagement to the community. Anniversary Coin Update Coming from someone who mass-farmed ridiculous hours on 6 mages, all I have to say is, what the actual heck are these ridiculous prizes and absurd ws/cs rates? The coin drop rate and the mystery boxes alone makes this event insanely OP to not farm and miss out on. Even if you get no ws/cs from a stack, you have this large amount of NX and decent pyrope weapons that you pulled to make up for it. In my opinion, these boxes alone makes this farming event even more broken than CNY and that is honestly not okay LOL. This definitely should have been toned down A LOT before coming out because like Rie said, many people would completely avoid doing other content together just so that they can solo farm, and can you blame them? Even after taking out ws/cs from the pool, the NX alone already serves as a huge incentive for people to prioritize farming over bossing. I was expecting a nerf to come for these box rates during the middle of the event which is why I was so adamant on farming degenerate hours, but I just found myself burnt out and not really wanting to look at the game because of how much I treated farming like a job to take advantage of these boxes. You can argue that these boxes gives rise to the player count, but is it really sustainable like Rie said? It's just a mass surge of people realizing how stupidly broken these boxes are and taking advantage of it until the event is over before going back in their hiatus caves. You can also argue that these boxes adjusted the economy, but I would have to disagree with that whole. A majority of people that buy ws/cs are people that hoard them to save taxes on bcoins (excluding RWTers, but that's a whole another topic to rant about in a different post). These boxes, in my eyes, are VERY VERY detrimental to the server's economy and just ages the server rapidly. While I did enjoy this event solely for the boxes, I really hope the same thing does not occur again next year. Speaking for my own personal gains, yes I would love to see these boxes again so that I could continue progressing fast, but speaking for the sake of the longevity of this server, please don't ever have these boxes be this OP again. All in all, it was still a very enjoyable event! Thanks @Rielle for opening this thread because feedback was very much needed.
I think a solution that would make everyone happy would be one that considers incentivizing other content as well. I agree now with others that boxes can be mostly a good thing, but we should also have something for those that participate in bossing or pqing. From memory, HT and CWK didn’t even get coin spawns, while auf (and others I don’t know) did. Even then, coin spawns wouldn't really have an impact on them anyways. The increase in book prices and availability of HTP buyers sadly did not fill the discrepancy enough. In my experience, it was too hard to find HT parties when I was available anyway. This rate of CS/WS just seems too high, and wasn't the only time I saw these streaks throughout the event. It became a constant flood of smegas that just gave me FOMO whenever I wasn't farming, myself. How often does this happen in gachapon? The way I see it, the server just isn't large enough for anything to lower cs/ws prices below 500m (at least not for long). When we were at peak covid and the server was over 2x the population it is now, we actually saw cs/ws prices drop significantly from 2x vote events. As population declined, these nx events did little to nothing at changing the economy. When the population is low enough, the wealthier community is more in control of the market and able to maintain it at a price at or above 500m. They won't let it go under 500m as they would just lose equity from their scroll stocks. To summarize, the prices of CS/WS are not very indicative of how many that were actually flooded into the game.
Will move this thread to accepted. We've taken note and will refer to it next year. A few notes: Coin mob spawning issues. HT not spawning coin mobs upon death was an oversight. It was included in the script, but there was a subtlety in the way HT dies and it wasn't fixed unfortunately. CWK bosses not spawning coin mobs... not sure if it was an oversight or not. I don't see a reason to have excluded them. I do not see their IDs in the version of the script I have access to. Box Rewards WS/CS rates from boxes are not as high as people are making them out to be. They could use a small nerf, but over the entire event I have not seen anyone come close to guessing the correct rate. I do agree, though, that the boxes are too lucrative and could use several adjustments should we implement them again. It might be best to not cater to the farming meta more than we already have (intentionally or not). However, there is only so much one can do about FOMO, and I think a big part of that has to do with today's mentality involving games, and less to do with the game design (not entirely independent of the design, of course). Since I do not multi mage farm, I farmed the event by bossing. I did Papulatus, Chao, and Ephenia on my Shadower and my Paladin. The weekend drop bonus did wonders for my income (more likely to get NX cards, more likely to get monster card -> more drop bonus), and I didn't really have to spend that much time per day (< 1 hour for all bosses). I felt perfectly motivated to do those daily bosses, and did not feel the burn out that one may feel from farming. Ultimately, I think there is a mentality issue, and the price you pay for wanting to make as much money as fast as possible, or 'optimally' upgrade your character (in this case, or in our server, this means farming events with multi mages) will be feelings of FOMO and burn out. I'm not disagreeing or discounting your sentiment entirely, though, as there are things we can do to avoid feeding this mentality. Festive Agility Challenge. The rewards are crap and should be improved. I don't see why they can't be similar in nature to something like Witch Tower. Maybe then it will feel rewarding. That's all that comes to mind.
