Forum Design a Chair 2022

Hello everyone! It's been a hot minute since we've hosted this contest, and we're glad to bring it back . We are ready to see everyone's pent up creativity over the last two years finally unleashed. Expectations are high, so bring your A game. But more importantly, have fun!

Rules

1. Entries must be submitted within the submission time. Any late entries will not be accepted. The event will run until September 25th, 2022, 04:00.
2. Participants are allowed to edit their submission posts, but are allowed a maximum of three final entries.
3. Only one entry per person can win.
4. To be eligible to win, all entries must be submitted in this thread.
5. Incomplete submissions, plagiarism, and inappropriate content are all within grounds for disqualification at the judges' discretion. Submissions must follow the Terms and Conditions.
6. The Staff's decisions will be final and binding.

Chair Requirements

1. Use a 250 x 250 px canvas with a transparent background to create images for your chair. All individual sprites must be saved and submitted as 250 x 250 px .png images with transparent backgrounds. The chair in its entirety (all frames layered) must be contained in a 250 x 250 px box. See below for an example that breaks this rule.
2. The submission of the chair frames should only include the chair itself, and not the character/platform. However, it is advised to also provide an example showing where the character should sit on the chair alongside your submission.
   
3. Your chair cannot be designed such that the character sits higher or lower than the ground.
   
4. You must specify if your chair should have a fixed orientation. If you don't, the chair will face the direction of the sitting character by default.
5. For animated chairs, the default delay is 100 ms, unless you specify differently. Frames can have a unique delay.
6. For animated chairs, there is a 20 frame limit. (This is an increase over an old 10 frame limit.)
7. Your chair design must fit in to the theme of MapleStory (No Pokemon, for example.)
8. Your chair design must be original and not a copy of pre-existing chairs in MapleStory.
9. You may include graphics from MapleStory to decorate or accompany your design.
10. Chairs can include two layers - please upload both layers as separate images.
11. The chair must be designed on the basis of the flat ground provided below.

Unfortunately, this chair violates Requirement 1. The height is too large (more than 250 pixels). All frames (animations, e.g.) and parts of the chair must fit within this 250 x 250 px box around the character like so.

Prizes
Each winner will have their chair on a character of their choice provided in the submission. There will be a total of ten unique winners.

• First place - Chair + 50,000 NX + 40 RP
• Second place - Chair + 35,000 NX + 30 RP
• Third place - Chair + 25,000 NX + 20 RP
• Fourth - Tenth place - Chair + 10,000 NX + 10 RP

Concept of my Chair
The original idea was based on living life as an NPC where your only job is to give players their quests and reward them upon completion.
The ripped bag represents the amount of mesos given to players after completing their task.
To NPCs, the value of Manon's tail and a blue snail shell really don't matter all that much as shown by the pile of quest items.
For added laziness, we have a baby mushroom assisting us in changing our status as well!

Concept of my Chair
I wanted to capture the aesthetic of Amoria by drawing a relaxing fountain underneath a beautiful gazebo surrounded by fully bloomed roses.
This chair was designed for partners who have transparent chairs.
This is a reuse of one of my previous entries, but with minor edits to the lineart and animations.

- For the most part, everything is hand drawn, including the animation.
- The imitation UI timing is slightly different so you should still be able to tell it's fake.
