The new update is here, and here is the most controversial choice in the update: Alright, so, lets recall that a few updates ago, both the droprate of golden teeths and stoppers were nerfed significantly to battle the effect of summon farmers, but the only real effect it had was raising the price. It didn’t discourage botters and it didnt discourage legitamate players from summon farming. So you guys decided that the only real answer is to deny semi idle farming completely. Even though I was working on 2 summon mules, and feel a little cheated, i actually support it as it will reward players that actually actively play the damn game, and reward their effort accordingly. But, the end result is that we are left with a post nerf droprate that was targeted at summon farmers, in a world where “summon and forget” is no longer a money making strategy. We’ll see these items inflate like hell, and all the players that stockpiled will use it to make money of whatever’s left for them to spare. Right now, the droprate is not efficient enough for anybody to actively farm it, and if the price will rise too much people wont be willing to buy. I suggest to at least revert the drop nerfs so that people will not stop doing zak because its a net loss bossfight and that people wont have to revert to weaker attacking potions in runs.
It is still day 1, lets continue to observe how the market reacts. And if a buff is needed, this will be considered. P.s. just curious: Scenario one: stoppers, Mithril and gold teeth price increase. People who put in the extra effort to farm them wins, zak helm and ht service sellers adjust prices accordingly. Scenario two: prices remain the same, summon farmers lose a little, assuming extra effort to loot, some summon farmers start to lose interest, foreseeable trend towards scenario one. Scenario three: buff drop rates. Prices as before, summon farmers lose a little, assuming effort to loot. Scenario four: people stop buying stoppers altogether, revert to scenario three to fix prices/ introduce other sources of stopper farm. Mithril and gold teeth remains the same as demand is not based on choice, mandatory for bosses, skillbooks price increase, ht and zak run price increase. Potentially Higher demand for apple, Apple price increase, more people doing apq, awesome. Wouldn’t this mean scenario one provides the best reward for those that put in effort to farm these 3 popular items? If you think about it, only the botters and end user of all these pots, etcs and services are those affected.
My 2 cents is that nerf of droprate will not work out at all in the long run. even if the HS drop is nerfed badly, summon farmers will just go to another map (lep/zombie/etc map that can farm) Reason is that it takes too little effort for the benefits in return, people will still do it. What can be done should be something along the lines of HS rewards via "doing something actively" Take for eg. implementing HS drop into GPQ (this helps to promote GPQ + guild interaction + rewarding too) Take for eg. or some bosses like (Zak) as it's harder to organise and kill / quest (cwkpq??) that are seldom done as people don't find it very rewarding. One good outcome for this is APQ is more active now. There are more people doing APQ since the apples are more rewarding now and it takes "real" time/effort to get the apples
I'm willing to wait it out for like a month and see how the market reacts. But I still believe that a move that tries to target botters shouldn't hurt the legit players to this sort of degree. But then again, idle farming is a stupid and expoiltable game mechanic, and I have little to no strong arguments against whiping it out other than a sunk cost fallacy. The only real worry is the possible pandora box that you guys have opened by causing this mass hysteria with a sudden announcment. Leaving the nerf implications aside, i just want to see the normal rates return because the nerf to the droprates was a careless attempt at fighting botting, and not a thought out plan to criple them like this nerf (be it, an effective but very crude solution). leaving those changes as is makes zaking less of a thing you can farm etcs for yourself, and more of a thing you MUST buy from a provider, which is where all those hackers and botters come in. There's a reason for why you never hear of people selling cwkpq crimson hearts, it's just accessable enough for any party to farm it actively themselves before the run. Why can't it be true for zak as well? Forcing an end game player to farm 30 etcs that rarely ever drop from a super weak mob in a bad map layout for an underwhelming bossfight is pretty unfair if you ask me. Solo farming those golden teeths can go on for HOURS. By making the drops more rare, you further alienate the normal players, and just let the botters capitalize on it, and gain money through the frustrations of the players that tried to do it alone and gave up.
You are under the assumption that the player base will remain the same. How would you like it if someone hacks into your account and take away your belongings? Would you feel less motivated to play? This is the exact same case for afk farmers. They've lost a big aspect of afk farming that was completely uncalled for and therefore will feel cheated and less motivated. Compensation is needed as a motivational factor and i see no other way than this. Edit: to simply put in another analogy, if you typed up a paper but lost it due to a power outage and it wasn't saved, how encouraged would you be to rewrite it? You also need to keep in mind that maple is a social game. When a group of friends quit, you tend to feel less motivated and so will more friends of yours and the effect goes on. By the time you hope to observe the changes, it might be already too late...
Wait, when was gold tooth drop rate ever nerfed since the onset of new source? There could have been an unintentional drop rate nerf at the onset of new source but the major difference between old and new source gold teeth farming was the severe spawn nerf of nearly half of the world maps in new source that included all 4 dead mine maps and discouraged gold teeth farming because there were and still are too little miner zombies to kill. In the past, I made 5 gold tooth farming afk mules. Only few weeks later, there was an update which fixed once broken drop rates of all the etc items. After this update, I actually farmed more gold tooth than before and felt the drop rate had increased (not sure if it was just placebo effect but I never felt a reduction in the drop rate). Heart stopper drop rate nerf from update #50 wasn't even a real nerf but more of a reversion because it was significantly higher than that of old source and supply was simply too overwhelming that the price went down from 500~800k to 250k at its golden era (Just like how AM nerf was a partial reversion back to that of old source). To date, we have 1/2 or 1/3 of old source population as many point out in their criticism. Why do we need to keep the supply of stoppers so high when we have even less people playing? Using gizer for boss fights in old source was a norm as one can observe from Plenty's ht video. Old-new source transition generation of players adapted from low to sudden high supply of stoppers. Why can't we adapt to lower supply now? It feels like many are simply refusing to let go of the convenience that made overall progression quicker and easier. Just like every other update and game changes, people will adapt to the new playstyle and suit themselves to the new conditions. I believe this decision is healthier for the server in long term as well. I was an active mage grinder before I had a taste of afk farming but I could never grind as consistently as I used to after falling into the lazy pit of afk farming. Current crazy inflation of stopper price is only due to named hardcore afk farmers, true salesmen whose brains spin faster than most of us, trying to make as much profit out of this situation before the rest of the players realize what's actually going on. Price will eventually settle when they run out of their piles of reserved stock. I estimate price to settle around 500k until new methods of att pot acquisition is introduced, which isn't anything to freak out about. I spent a lot of time making those mules but I don't feel like I got cheated because I feel that I was manipulating and taking advantage of this legal-botting system - while it lasted. This will actually motivate me to grind harder in order to afford att pots that I may no longer self-suffice in same quantity.
If the developer's mean in implementing this is to tackle the whole AFK farming scene I think it's better to just have multi-client narrowed down to 3 (cause the error message is needed to be fixed by opening up to 3 clients at once unless the enable of multi-client itself produced this error) if that's possible. Right now it also punishes people who are actively playing by using summons to maximize farming and yet they have to manually loot themselves which doesn't make sense. Yes, people with more computers / laptops will have an "advantage" but they're paying more electrical bill in exchange for virtue money too.
The heartstopper rate is high enough. I was farming there just now and got on average 1 per minute. I agree gold teeth are needlessly tedious at the moment. I think it'd be good to buff the spawn rate a bit, but not necessarily the drop rate. Definitely a fan of the nerf on afk farming
Couldn’t have worded it any better. I find it ironic (actually no, to be expected) that the familiar faces I see at voodoo who often exploit several maps are now trying to jack up the prices to once again exploit players who are frantic and unaware. The change is a nice addition tbh despite being one of those who farm there, alt tab farming is soooo easy and exploitable than what most ppl think, and if they can do it while doing end game contents like HT or just simply selling leech while constantly doing summon farm on at least 3+ char then the rich will just get richer. My recent thread had someone owning at least 13+ lep maps and I fail to see how that is healthy for the server when effort to make mules is so insignificant compared to the reward (like how most ppl justify making a mage/hs mule to sell leech) Just my thoughts witnessing some of the S>heartstopper smegas yesterday..
